Music mogul Simon Cowell has told former X Factor contestant Frankie Cocozza he’s ‘blown a wonderful opportunity’. The 18-year-old from Brighton was recently kicked off the show and a statement said he had broken a ‘golden rule’ of the competition and would no longer be competing. Several reports claimed his exit was due to Cocozza taking drugs although nothing has yet been confirmed. Cowell told UK newspaper The Sun: “Frankie’s blown a wonderful opportunity. It’s very sad, but he has no one to blame but himself.”Read More

Idris Elba has compared Jay-Z to Stringer Bell, the drug-dealing character he played on cult TV series, The Wire. The Luther actor says that when he met the rapper he was immediately reminded of the role that made him a star in the US. “There’s a way Jay-Z looks you dead in your eye and doesn’t look away that reminded me of Stringer,” Elba, 39, tells Essence magazine. The irony of the comparison is not lost on the Hackney-born actor who is aware of the rapper’s past career as a drug dealer. Born Shawn Corey Carter, Jay-Z started selling crack cocaine in his Brooklyn neighbourhood when he was just 13. The 41-year-old has been open about his criminal past. Elba met Jay-Z at the premiere of Obsessed, the 2009 film he starred in opposite the rapper’s wife, Beyonce.Read More
Apart from some small video/TV gigs over the past couple of years, there’s really not much of Snoop Dogg’s acting career to speak of since the movie “Soul Plane”. If you’re going through withdrawals from snoop as an actor, you’ll be pleased to know that the rapper has officially been hired to stars in “The Legend of Fillmore Sim”, a biopic about the blues singer/guitarist/former pimp. Co-producer Alan Ames said “This film will span decades, from Slim’s emergence as a musician, to his fascination with the fast life, through his years of incarceration and his redemption.” It sounds like an interesting project.Read More
In case you’ve been living under a rock, TI was recently released early from prison and transported to a halfway house. But in a matter of days, the rapper was sent back into the pokey for allegedly misleading officers about the method of transportation he chose for travelling. However, photos have recently surfaced showing TI being walked to the bus by a prison guard, making those reports utter crap. Then there were reports that he was sent back because there were VH1 producers for his reality TV show in the bus when he wasn’t supposed to conduct business while in transit. Those people reportedly tried to testify otherwise but they kept being ignored...Read More
TI just got out of prison but he just couldn’t wait to start shooting a new reality TV show for VH1. Apparently, it’s about the rapper readjusting to life as a free man after being locked up for nearly a year. The show, which has yet to be given a title, promises that viewers will get an up close and personal look as TI is “reunited with his wife and kids and thrust back into society at this crucial juncture in his life.” How much could have changed in a year that he has to go to a process of readjustment? I would have understood the premise of the whole show better if he was locked up for 15 years.Read More
At the rate he’s going, Soulja Boy might file for bankruptcy as early as his 22nd birthday. It’s been reported that the 21-year old rapper is planning to throw himself a $300,000 birthday party and just bought himself a G5 jet, worth $35 million, as a birthday present to himself. That’s just the beginning. Soulja Boy is reportedly dropping an additional $20 million to pimp it out with 12 custom Italian leather seats, flat screen TVs, 4 liquor bars, travertine tiled floor and Brazilian hardwood cabinets. He’s also getting the lavatory replaced with a giant luxurious bathroom and giving the jet a custom paint job to include his logo...Read More
Tinie Tempah recently took the stage of Hoppus on Music on Fuse TV to deliver live performances of his US platinum-selling hit “Written in the Stars” and his new single “Till I’m Gone”. As usual, the British rapper killed it. If “Written in the Stars” managed to reach the top 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, I’m sure the Wiz Khalifa-assisted “Till I’m Gone” can become Tinie’s first top 10 hit in the US. I’ve been jamming to the song ever since I saw the music video. The song has been on radio adds since late last month so I’m happy that Tinie finally decided to promote it on TV. I hope he keeps up the hard work and ends up in the top 10 on the Hot 100. I really think he deserves it.

The next performance was perhaps the biggest disappointment of last night’s American Idol finale, at least for me. First of all, I don’t find any reason as to why Lil Jon had to start off the performance. Secondly because it was the now two-member TLC that took the stage, with Left Eye having passed away years ago. But what was most disappointing was the fact that it was obvious that T-Boz and Chili were lip synching through their performance of “No Scrubs” and “Waterfalls”. They looked amazing though and the female contestants all seemed thrilled to share the stage with the iconic R&B group.

Ever wonder why Snoop Dogg turned down an offer to be a judge on the US X Factor? Well, it wasn’t because he couldn’t stand to be around Simon Cowell’s unbearably loveable presence… or not entirely because of it. Snoop Dogg explained it himself: “The ‘American Idol’ and ‘X Factor’ shows, they’re great shows. But I think I need to make a show like that, that’s directed straight to the hood. To the artists that don’t get the attention, that don’t have the money to make themselves this raw talent and ability. I’m looking for a deal from one of you TV networks to give Snoop Dogg his own hood TV show where I can find America’s hottest hood artists. Holla at me...Read More
