50 Cent is getting into dance music
Mar 18, 2010 Album
And it’s not just for his own entertainment, no, 50 Cent is planning of taking his own music into the new and bold direction. It looks like touring Europe really did a number on him so he’s decided that he might want to expand his horizons a bit. This is what 50 Cent said on the matter: I won’t allow myself to be placed in a box where I can only do one style, or do one kind of music. They should expect the unexpected on this one. If they can understand how I enjoy different genres of music and different styles, for the people who have various tastes in music, they’ll really like it.” Yes, because there is something so utterly diverse and unique about dance music. 50 Cent’s diamonds must be selling really cheap these days.
Jill Scott and Maxwell on Tour
Mar 18, 2010 Concert, Concert Tour, Maxwell
Jill Scott and Maxwell are going on tour together in the US. Their concerts will kick off in Cleveland on May 21 and will be making stops in 20 cities with more dates to be announced for June. The R&B singers will be stopping in Detroit, Indianapolis, Chicago, St. Louis, Seattle, Oakland, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Miami, Washington DC, Philadelphia and New York. Both of them are incredible to see and hear live so if you’ve got the chance to catch them in concert, do so! I think they should even add more dates to their tour to give everyone a chance to catch them.

Whitney Houston Ignores Critics
Mar 4, 2010 Concert, Whitney Houston
After critics and concert goers have complained that Whitney Houston’s tour in Australia is an absolute disaster, the singer’s publicist released a statement saying “Whitney is in great health and having a terrific time on her tour and with her fans. Her fans were dancing and singing along with her and Whitney appreciates their support.” However, fans have been voicing their opinion on the internet and it sounds like they disagree saying “She barely finished any of her songs and talked more than she sang while trying to catch a breath, as well as stopping in the middle of her songs to get a towel, reapply makeup” and “If her voice is shot, and she knows it, how dare she get up on stage and pretend it’s not.”

Leona Lewis does not travel light
Feb 23, 2010 Leona Lewis
It seems that Leona Lewis is about to embark on her first ever world tour and she’s a bit edgy about it. Thankfully, she’s found the perfect way to get over herself: pack a lot of food for the trip. This is what Leona Lewis said on the matter: “The worst thing is missing home. Like anyone who has to travel for their work, you do get a bit homesick sometimes. So I travel with my PG Tips tea and my baked beans.” Well, certainly that is all any up and coming artist really needs: the baked beans. Leona Lewis is actually setting a ground-breaking example her and is once again proving how well Simon Cowell has taught her.

Drake Loves the Environment
Hip hop superstar Drake is going on a college tour beginning in April and will be promoting eco-friendly technology, teaming up with The Campus Connection Tour. During the tour, the rapper/singer will be using biodegradable materials both on his tour bus and backstage as well as making sure the dressing room accommodations and meals are all environmentally-conscious. That’s a pretty good idea. Maybe other artists will follow suit. It takes one influential person to inspire others. Let’s hope Drake’s message will reach a lot of other people who will follow suit. It’s for the greater good of people and our earth.
Timbaland on Tour
Jan 15, 2010 Concert, Timbaland
Timbaland recently announced some details about his upcoming North American tour for ‘Shock Value II’ and it’s bound to be hot! The show is being pitched as a “visual and sonic extravaganza” and also boosts the rapper/producer performing with a slew of surprise live guests. Considering the set list, expect guests like Drake, Keri Hilson, DOE, Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake. And in a cool twist of technology, other guests will appear via digital imagery projected onto a full-size screen. Some of those guests include the likes of Katy Perry and Brandy. It is going to be a hot show indeed!

Kid Cudi Kicked Off Tour
Dec 22, 2009 Concert, Concert Tour, Kid Cudi, Lady Gaga
If you have tickets to Lady Gaga’s The Monster Ball, you no longer have to worry about Kid Cudi’s fists flying at you as the rapper has suddenly been given the boot from the tour. Interscope Records confirmed that the rapper is no longer with the tour. However, they wouldn’t say if his removal was over the video that showed him punching a fan in the face while performing in Vancouver. I’m willing to bet that it’s the real reason for the boot. The fan that Kid Cudi hit said that he wouldn’t be pressing charges but I think being dropped from Lady Gaga’s tour is a lot worse than a lawsuit.

Rihanna Talks Estranged Father
Dec 4, 2009 Chris Brown, Concert, Famous People, Rihanna
Rihanna and her dad haven’t been in contact for about a year and the singer revealed that she’s tried to get in touch, only to get no response. When reports surfaced recently that the Barbadian babe’s dad has been making efforts for a reconciliation, Rihanna said “That sounds very strange to me, seeing as I’ve been the one trying to reconcile with him forever…He has my number.” The two had a falling out after her dad got drunk while on tour with her and created an even larger gap when he spoke out to the media during the whole Chris Brown fiasco back in February.

Alicia Keys speaks about new album
Dec 2, 2009 Alicia Keys, Soul Music
The singer recently shared whit everybody the amazing themes on her new album. Apparently, Alicia Keys’ latest release is about overcoming depression. This is what she said about it: “I found more freedom. Before, I thought I could only show the strong side of me. Now there’s a mixture of strong and delicate. A new sound, a new emotion. That’s a lot of who I am right now. In the past, I was locking myself in the studio because I thought it was the only way to create music. This was a more casual way to do it. The tour will take me all over the world for a year and I can’t wait to play these songs.” Yeah, depression really does deal with the delicate side of people, doesn’t it? Still, it’s great Alicia Keys gets a chance to tour, she’s probably been missing out on the traveling… and the idea of getting to see all of the “depressive” sights the world has to offer.

Michael Jackson’s Movie Gets Help from the Past
Nov 20, 2009 Michael Jackson, Movies
Michael Jackson fans might be upset when they find out that the much hyped ‘This is It’ film, documenting the late singer’s final tour rehearsals, seems to have gotten a bit of help from the past. According to new reports, music experts are saying that some of the sound bytes on the movie are actually from years before. Former BBC senior studio manager Andrew Rose claims “Throughout the film sudden changes in vocal timbre suggest the dropping in of older recordings which may have required significant digital manipulation to fit the new live backing.” The shocking part in all this is that officials at Sony Pictures admit to altering the film. It’s not like it’s going to hurt them now as the film has already grossed over $200 million.
Wu Tang Clan Entourage Arrested
Nov 14, 2009 Drugs
Two guys who sometimes perform with the Wu Tang Clan rap group have been arrested in Arkansas, on a tour bus that cops say was filled with marijuana smoke. Ronald Bean aka DJ Mathematics and Patrick Charles aka Streetlife were busted after a routine traffic stop. According to a police report, officers opened the bus door and “could immediately smell the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the interior of the bus … the bus was filled with smoke and the odor of marijuana.” Cops claim that there were “marijuana blunts and residue were laying in plain sight” and that there were 110 ecstasy tablets hidden inside a can and $8615 in cash. 8 men in total were arrested on suspicion of drug possession with intent to sell.

Chris Brown Album Pushed
Nov 12, 2009 Chris Brown, Concert
Despite his upcoming tour not being able to sell as many tickets as any of his camp would like, Chris Brown’s album ‘Graffiti’ is actually getting pushed for an earlier released. The R&B singer’s album is now going out on December 8th, a week before its original release date. The release is coming on the heels of his upcoming ‘Fan Appreciation Tour’ which kicks off on November 14 in Houston, Texas. Yeah, he should appreciate his fans that do go to see him in concert because it’s likely that there’s only just a few of them left. They should just leak his album altogether.

Chris Brown’s sales not so hot
Nov 5, 2009 Chris Brown, Concert, Tickets Sale
It seems that the rapper’s recently planned “small shows for the fans”, with up to 2500 seats available, mind you, aren’t really attracting many of those fans Chris Brown claims to have. It seems that all of his upcoming shows for which tickets have been selling since last week are not filling up at all, not even those that have only 1000 seats. Things aren’t looking too good for Chris Brown right now… maybe he should try some new stunt with somebody else, get his publicity up and running a bit, see if he can in any way boost his popularity. It’s a pity for all those wonderful tickets to go to waste…

Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty
Oct 26, 2009 Lil Wayne, Rapper
Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to attempted weapon possession last week and is expected to be sentenced to a year in jail. The rapper admitted to having a .40 calibre semi-automatic loaded gun on board his tour bus back in 2007. Sentencing isn’t until February so he remains free on bail until then. However, he’ll be busy tending to his other run-ins with the law as he has a trial scheduled in Arizona for felony drug possession and weapon charges from an arrest back in January 2008 at the US Border Patrol. He pleaded not guilty for that one. Either way, he will be getting some jail time in.

Musical Stars Do Hip Hop
Oct 13, 2009 Jay-Z, Kanye West
Cast members from the Tony Award winning musical ‘In the Heights’ Kyle Beltran, Karen Olivo and Lin-Manuel Miranda sang their own rendition of Jay-Z’s hit song ‘Run this Town’ featuring Rihanna and Kanye West. The video is a creative introduction for the first national tour cast of ‘In the Heights’ which kicks off on Tuesday, October 27 at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in Tampa, Florida. Thanks to the TV show ‘Glee’, musical stars doing covers of mainstream music seems to be a growing trend. I like their versions though and sometimes even better than I like the originals.

Chris Brown’s Appreciation Tour
Oct 12, 2009 Chris Brown, Concert, Concert Tour
Chris Brown is taking a break from his busy, court ordered hard labor schedule to go on a concert tour for whatever miniscule number remains of his fans. Why? The R&B singer recently posted on his Twitter saying “BOUT TO START A SMALL TOUR SOON.. 15 TO 20 DATES.. MY FAN APPRECIATION TOUR. just for yall.nothin bigger than 4,ooo seater.” He might as well also expect that there will only be 15 to 20 people attending each concert date and I’m not even counting the ones who will repeatedly be at the shows because they’re stalkers or groupies like that.

Jim Jones pleads guilty
The rapper has recently pleaded guilty to assaulting a friend of Ne-Yo at a Louis Vitton store in New York. Apparently Jim Jones made this bold move because he didn’t want to risk any tour prohibitions in the near future, after all, the man released his latest alum only a few months ago and there is promoting to be done, a true artist cannot waist time on trivial things such as judicial procedures… after all, it takes a long time to decide anything in the justice system and they never decide anything unless it is worth taking… a long time to decide.
Method Man Expresses Remorse
Sep 11, 2009 Concert Tour, Method Man
Method Man recently admitted to brutally shooting someone in the leg with a BB gun. But ironically, the incident has nothing to do with the lady who happens to be suing him for an alleged air gun attack back in 2008. In a video for VladTV.com, the rapper says that he accidentally “shot one of [his] people in the leg with a f***ing BB” while he was holding target practice on his tour bus a while back. He said that the BB broke through his friend’s skin and that there was “blood gushing out his damn leg.” Method Man claims that he felt really bad about the accident and that he is still apologizing to the guy up to now. I’m pretty sure that the lady who’s suing him is looking for more than just an apology.

Aerosmith forced to cancel summer tour after lead singer is hospitalised
Aug 18, 2009 Aerosmith, Concert Tour
Aerosmith have been forced to cancel their summer tour because of injuries sustained by frontman Steven Tyler.
The veteran rocker was hospitalised on 5 August, after tumbling off-stage during a show in South Dakota.
Tyler, 61, was left with a broken shoulder and needed 20 stitches to a head wound.
“Words can’t express the sadness I feel for having to cancel this tour,” guitarist Joe Perry said in a statement.
Perry thanked the band’s fans and insisted they hoped to “get the Aerosmith machine up and running again as soon as possible”.
Tyler injured himself after thunderstorms delayed the show in the city of Sturgis by more than an hour.
It was the fourth time in Tyler’s long career that the singer has fallen from the stage.

Lil Wayne is Sick
Jul 8, 2009 Concert Tour, Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne better have a good apology ready to give to Europe. The rapper and his reps released a statement last Thursday announcing that he will not be able to perform at the next seven scheduled European tour dates due to an illness. Apparently, he was forced to cancel due to doctor’s orders but he does promise to reschedule when possible. The statement reads “Lil Wayne extends an apology to his fans for the short notice of this postponement. But [he] looks forward to returning for the performances and visitation with his fans.” He better go back and do those shows or he might end up owing promoters some big money.
