Snoop Dogg Gets Acting Gig

Apart from some small video/TV gigs over the past couple of years, there’s really not much of Snoop Dogg’s acting career to speak of since the movie “Soul Plane”. If you’re going through withdrawals from snoop as an actor, you’ll be pleased to know that the rapper has officially been hired to stars in “The Legend of Fillmore Sim”, a biopic about the blues singer/guitarist/former pimp. Co-producer Alan Ames said “This film will span decades, from Slim’s emergence as a musician, to his fascination with the fast life, through his years of incarceration and his redemption.” It sounds like an interesting project.

Snoop Dogg has a dictionary in the works

It looks like the rapper has big plans on improving the English language with his own very unique contributions. This is what Snoop Dogg answered when he was asked if he would like to release his own phrase book: ”Oh that’s dope. I like that. A Doggtionary, where I break down my words, give you a definition and put it in a sentence with a noun, an adverb and an adjective. You might have one there.” It’s a good thing that Snoop Dogg had this idea when he did. It came none too soon since the English language really is in dire need of an explanation to all of the hip-hop terms that have been infiltrating themselves in it for so long now.

Snoop Dogg wants Jay-Z on his show

As it may already be well known, the rapper has recently pitched an idea for his own talent show for television and he seems to have quite a reasonable amount of faith in his project since he’s already looking for judges. Once source even revealed who Snoop Dogg is considering as his first candidate: ”He wants to bring in an old-school legend, and he wants to get Jay-Z.” So, first on Snoop Dogg’s list is Jay-Z, but who is this old school legend that he wants to bring on the show? Is Snoop Dogg going to find a very talented necromancer and resurrect 2Pac? One can only dare to hope.

Snoop Dogg is no longer on probation

It seems that Christmas has come early for Snoop Dogg this year as his sixty months of probation were ended early recently. The rapper was convicted to that probation time and eight hundred hours of community services back in 2007 for allegedly possessing a gun and marijuana, but now a judge has ruled that the probation be dropped to only forty-nine months. So now Snoop Dogg can go about his business and debauchery freely, without having to constantly try to refrain himself from going out of his probation terms. Happy, happy days are going to be coming Snoop Dogg’s way from now on.

Snoop Dogg will have his own TV show

Ever wonder why Snoop Dogg turned down an offer to be a judge on the US X Factor? Well, it wasn’t because he couldn’t stand to be around Simon Cowell’s unbearably loveable presence… or not entirely because of it. Snoop Dogg explained it himself: “The ‘American Idol’ and ‘X Factor’ shows, they’re great shows. But I think I need to make a show like that, that’s directed straight to the hood. To the artists that don’t get the attention, that don’t have the money to make themselves this raw talent and ability. I’m looking for a deal from one of you TV networks to give Snoop Dogg his own hood TV show where I can find America’s hottest hood artists. Holla at me...

Snoop Dogg’s unlikely collaborator

It looks like the rapper is ready to take his career to new heights. And to that end it Snoop Dogg has found himself the perfect collaborator to reach this end: the one, the only Charlie Sheen. Actually, this is the actor’s idea and he’s not only enlisting the help of Snoop Dogg but also of producer Robert Patterson in recording a never-before heard track. This is what Charlie Sheen wrote on his twitter on the matter: “Warlock meets his makers-music makers that is @SnoopDogg @robpatterson666 get ready to rock the Sheenius within!” It’s probably going to be fun to see what Snoop Dogg and Charlie Sheen are going to whip up together… who knows, it might actually turn into a hit.

As a further tribute to Nate Dogg, who passed away at the tragically young age of 41 earlier this month, good friend and fellow rapper Snoop Dogg has set up a trust fund for Nate’s family “for expenses of services and the financial security of Nate’s children. 100% of all donations will be given to Nate Dogg’s family.” Snoop is accepting donations to the Nate Dogg Memorial Fund via PayPal, postal mail on in person. That’s very sweet of him. I’m sure the family and friends that Nate has left behind sincerely appreciate it. Will you be making a donation for Nate Dogg’s family?

Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg Collaborate for Soundtrack

Wiz Khalifa is not only collaborating with Snoop Dogg on a weed-related movie called “High School”, in which the younger rapper stars, but they are also collaborating on a full length album for it. Wiz told Rolling Stone magazine “[The soundtrack is] basically like me and Snoop’s album. It’s me and him going back and forth on songs the whole time, so it’s a big deal.” As for what the movie is about, Wiz said “It’s about pot, of course. But it’s about mine and his relationship. A spin-off of us being cool in the industry, smoking a lot of weed, being around a lot of weed. We’re going to try to have fun with it and also try to enlighten people at the same time, not just get everybody high.” I’m not sure about the movie but the soundtrack could be worth checking out...

New Video from Dr. Dre – Kush

10 years after his last album, Dr. Dre is finally back as the music video for Dr. Dre’s new single “Kush” has recently premiered. The Snoop Dogg and Akon-assisted track serves as the official lead single from the rap legend’s upcoming album “Detox” which is due out in early 2011. “Kush” currently sits at #58 on the Billboard Hot 100 which is respectable considering that it hasn’t had any promotion. As for the video, it was directed by Joseph Kahn and he delivered an amazing clip for all of us. Now that the music video is out, I wonder if the song can climb higher on the charts.
