New Video from Beyonce – Party

Beyonce’s highly anticipated music video for her new single “Party” has finally been premiered on BET’s 106th & Park show. The Kanye West-produced track is the latest offering from the R&B/pop singer’s platinum selling album “4”. For the video, Beyonce’s song features the official remix with J Cole. The Roc Nation rapper is also present in the backyard fiesta visual, alongside Kelly Rowland and Solange. I love it. It’s a very simple clip but it fits the song perfectly. I think it captured the flow and the vibe of the song and, as usual, Beyonce looks stunning. What do you think?

Beyonce Gets 5 Soul Train Nods

Beyonce has been nominated in five categories at this year’s Soul Train Awards. The 30-year old R&B/pop singer is up for Record of the Year for “Best Thing I Never Had”, Best Dance Performance for “Run the World (Girls)”, Album of the Year for “4”, and Best Female R&B/Soul Artist. Congratulations Beyonce and good luck! The 2011 Soul Train Awards tapes on November 17 in Atlanta and will air on Centric and BET on November 27. I wonder if she’ll be able to rake them all up. If not, what do you think she’ll be taking home? I’m sure she’ll take at least one.

New Video from Rihanna – We Found Love

Rihanna has recently premiered the music video for her song “We Found Love”. The video was filmed in Belfast, Northern Ireland and follows the passionate and wild love story of the Barbadian R&B/pop singer and her video boyfriend, played by boxer-turned-model Dudley O’Shaughnessy. I wasn’t expecting this type of visual at all. I love a video with a great story and this one definitely had it. I think this is Rihanna’s best video to date. It’s powerful and realistic. I love the shock visuals and overall concept. Bravo to everyone who had a hand in making this video the way it is.

Jason Derulo and Leona Lewis on X Factor Programs

Jason Derulo and Leona Lewis both took their turns gracing the X Factor stage, just in different countries. Jason went to X Factor Australia where the R&B/pop singer performed his latest singles “It Girl” and “Don’t Wanna Go Home”. Vocals aside, I say he killed it. As for Leona, the British pop star went to X Factor Germany to perform her 2008 single “Run”. No, it’s not an old video, it really is a recent performance. She did a flawless job but I just don’t get why she decided to perform a 3-year old song. She’s just not giving her Aviici collaboration a chance!

New Video from Chris Brown – Niggas in Paris

Chris Brown sports a werewolf mask and vampire fans in the “music video” for his recently released freestyle remix of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s latest single “Niggas in Paris”, where the R&B singer recruited the help of his “Kiss Kiss” collaborator T-Pain to do the auto tuned backup vocals. This re-recorded version of the “Watch the Throne” album track has been released by Chris as an early Halloween treat for his fans. And going with the Halloween spirit, Chris decided to pull out the 2-minute video with psychedelic lights, masks, fangs and a creepy orange sunset landscape. What do you think?

Beyonce Covers Harper’s Bazaar

Beyonce is featured on the cover of the November 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, which hits newsstands on October 25. The 30-year old R&B singer spoke about pregnancy and motherhood with the magazine, saying “It was important to me that I gave myself time to focus on becoming the woman I want to be, building my empire, my relationship, and my self-worth, before I became a mother. Now God has blessed us with the ultimate.” Beyonce also talked about her relationship with hubby Jay-Z, saying “We have been together since I was 20 years old. We took our time and developed an unbreakable friendship before we got married. I admire his ability to inspire others. To me, Jay represents the American dream. Jay’s music has helped define our generation...

Snoop Dogg Gets Acting Gig

Apart from some small video/TV gigs over the past couple of years, there’s really not much of Snoop Dogg’s acting career to speak of since the movie “Soul Plane”. If you’re going through withdrawals from snoop as an actor, you’ll be pleased to know that the rapper has officially been hired to stars in “The Legend of Fillmore Sim”, a biopic about the blues singer/guitarist/former pimp. Co-producer Alan Ames said “This film will span decades, from Slim’s emergence as a musician, to his fascination with the fast life, through his years of incarceration and his redemption.” It sounds like an interesting project.

New Songs from Jason Derulo – Pick Up the Pieces/Breathing

Jason Derulo has under two weeks until he releases his sophomore album “Future History”, due out on September 27th, but the pop singer is continuing to offer new promo singles via iTunes to keep up the hype for his upcoming record. Jason dropped two new tracks from the album recently, “Pick Up the Pieces” and “Breathing”. The first is a nice mid tempo drums-driven tune with a catchy hook. It’s a decent album track. As for the latter, I love it! I thought it was going to be a ballad from the title but it’s actually a chill out house record. I love the lyrics, the vibe and the production. I never knew he had it in him to do that type of song. Check them out.

Drake Drops Freebies

Drake took to his Twitter account this past weekend to announce that he was releasing some free music for his fans that day. The Canadian singer/rapper dropped three new tracks called “Club Paradise”, which was produced by Noah “40” Shebib; “Free Spirit”, which features Rick Ross; and “Round of Applause”, a remix to a Waka Flocka original. Personally, “Club Paradise” is my favorite. Word has it that none of these tracks will be on Drake’s upcoming album “Take Care”, due out on October 24th. But if you like them, you can head over to his OVO blog at octobersveryown.blogspot.com to download them.

New Song from Chris Brown – Trumpet Lights

A new song called “Trumpet Lights” from Chris Brown has recently leaked online. The track was produced by Swizz Beatz, who has been a frequent collaborator with the R&B singer. The song is an explosive eclectic record with loads of horns, auto-tune and some hip hop swag from Chris. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea now that I think about it but the song still sounds pretty unfinished so there’s still room for improvement so I’m reserving final judgment until then. In any case, it all points out that “Trumpet Lights” comes from the recording sessions of Chris’ upcoming album “Fortune”. All we have to do now is wait to see if it will make the final cut.
