New Video from Beyonce – Party

Beyonce’s highly anticipated music video for her new single “Party” has finally been premiered on BET’s 106th & Park show. The Kanye West-produced track is the latest offering from the R&B/pop singer’s platinum selling album “4”. For the video, Beyonce’s song features the official remix with J Cole. The Roc Nation rapper is also present in the backyard fiesta visual, alongside Kelly Rowland and Solange. I love it. It’s a very simple clip but it fits the song perfectly. I think it captured the flow and the vibe of the song and, as usual, Beyonce looks stunning. What do you think?

New Video from Chris Brown – Niggas in Paris

Chris Brown sports a werewolf mask and vampire fans in the “music video” for his recently released freestyle remix of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s latest single “Niggas in Paris”, where the R&B singer recruited the help of his “Kiss Kiss” collaborator T-Pain to do the auto tuned backup vocals. This re-recorded version of the “Watch the Throne” album track has been released by Chris as an early Halloween treat for his fans. And going with the Halloween spirit, Chris decided to pull out the 2-minute video with psychedelic lights, masks, fangs and a creepy orange sunset landscape. What do you think?

Kanye West Occupies Wall Street

Kanye West was spotted marching alongside other protestors at the Occupy Wall Street movement this past Monday in New York City. The 34-year old rapper brought along his buddy Russell Simmons to help him stand up for the cause. Many celebrities have gotten together to protest at Occupy Wall Street, which fights against financial greed and corruption. Stars such as Penn Badgley, Zoe Kravitz, Mark Ruffalo, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have all lent their voice to the cause. It’s nice to see people that carry great influence support such a cause. Here’s to hoping that someone will finally listen soon enough.

New Video from Big Sean – Marvin & Chardonnay

Big Sean has recently premiered the music video for “Marvin & Chardonnay”. The song is the second single from the rapper’s GOOD Music debut album “Finally Famous”, which is in stores now. With label boss Kanye West by his side, Big Sean spits verses against colorful backdrops and wearing flashy suits, all while mixed with scenes of ladies striking their best poses. I like the song but had to shake my head at it only peaking at #46 on the Billboard Hot 100. I guess that’s what happens when you don’t promote your song right, regardless of how cool it is. As for the video, I didn’t enjoy it at all. It looks cheap and boring. I can’t believe Hype Williams is behind this.

Lil Wayne Breaks Digital Sales Record

Congratulations are in order for Lil Wayne as the rapper broke the record for the iTunes store’s single-week album sales by selling over 300,000 downloads in the first four days of his latest album “Tha Carter IV”. Jay-Z and Kanye West actually just recently broke the record when their collaborative album “Watch the Throne” was released. It was a short-lived reign for those two. If that wasn’t enough of a success for Lil Wayne, the combined digital and physical sales of the album is expected to be around 850,000 copies. That is impressive! It’s hard to come up with those first week numbers in the music industry today.

New Video from Rihanna – Cheers

Rihanna has recently premiered the music video for her latest single “Cheers”. During her tour stop in Kensington Oval, Barbados on August 5, the 23-year old R&B singer filmed footage for this video. The visual features a lot of concert and backstage shots from her “Loud” tour, as well as a special appearance by Avril Lavigne. It’s a simple nod to Rihanna sampling the Canadian pop star’s hit “I’m With You” in the song. Also making brief appearances in the video are Cee-Lo Green, Kanye West and Jay-Z. In other Rihanna news, she just wrapped up the European leg of her tour and is prepping to kick it off in South America on September 17.

Kanye West and Jay-Z Perform at VMAs

In a surprise performance, Jay-Z and Kanye West took to the stage at the 2011 MTV VMAs at Nokia Theatre LA Live in Los Angeles this past Sunday to perform their song “Otis”. Do I even have to say how amazing this performance is? The mere fact that you have these two hip hop moguls collaborating and then seeing them perform live is just surreal. It’s like a clash of the titans but in a really good way. These two have really revived my interest in hip hop, which is funny since I’m really not their biggest fans when they’re on their own. But together, they are magic.

Kanye West fell on his back during a concert (video)

Kanye West found himself in an awkward situation during a recent concert in Norway.
While interpreting the song ‘All of the Lights’ to the enthusiastic audience, the artist suffered a nasty fall on his back. The moment was funny, of course, and it was recorded by video cameras. The incident has occurred on Tuesday, 9th of August. Kanye performed his choreography with energy, until his feet were intersected unfortunately and he landed heavily on his back.
Before the fall, Kanye just pitied the public for the tragedy that recently happened in Norway, promising that he will cheer them up as they deserve: ‘I feel great to be back on stage to sing. I came to make sure that you have fun after you have passed through those unfortunate things’.

Eminem Named King of Hip Hop

Following their crowning of Lady Gaga as the Queen of Pop, Rolling Stone magazine has now named Eminem as the King of Hip Hop. A lot of fans have taken to their Twitter accounts to express both their agreement and disappointment since. Based on numbers and a bunch of categories in which those numbers are calculated (sales, Grammys, followers, Billboard presence, airtime play, etc), the facts are the facts. Rolling Stone even has all of the charts and math drawn out, category by category, for anyone who refuses to believe it. Coming in second place to Eminem was Lil Wayne. Drake, Kanye West and Jay-Z rounded out the top 5. Interestingly enough, Nicki Minaj, the only woman on the Kings list, placed number 6. Congratulations to Eminem!

Lil Wayne and Drake Making an Album

After seeing Lil Wayne and Drake perform together at the BET Awards, I’m pretty excited after learning of this bit of news. Following the footsteps of Jay-Z and Kanye West, rappers Lil Wayne and Drake have decided to team up for their own collaborative album. Birdman spoke about the project, saying “That’s definitely going to get done. It’s older versus younger. I listened to a few songs [off Watch the Throne], and it feels like an older feel to me. I think with Drake and Wayne, they young, they young cats. You got 23 and 28. Then you got Jay-Z and them, who are older and really on their way out the game. Then you got Wayne and Drake and them, who are still youthful to the game. So it’s two different types of music all the way across the board...
