Supermodel Miranda Kerr has revealed her 11-month-old son loves hip-hop music. Kerr, who had her first baby Flynn with actor husband Orlando Bloom in January, encourages her son to listen to music and dance along. “He loves hip-hop,” she told US talk show host Chelsea Lately. “When I had him in my stomach, I’d play music and sometimes I’d put on hip-hop and dance around. So now, I put hip-hop on and he shakes his head – pretty funny.” The 28-year-old also revealed more details about her childbirth, saying Bloom wanted her to have an epidural but she was adamant about giving birth naturally. “I was so determined to have a natural childbirth. Now I can much more easily handle a paper cut,” she joked.Read More

T-Pain has recently premiered the music video for his new single “5 O’Clock” via VEVO. The track comes off of the hip hop artist’s upcoming fourth album “rEVOLVEr”. The song recently hit US radios and is performing quite nicely. I think it has the potential to be the hit T-Pain has been looking for. It’s a laidback auto-tune mid-tempo song which features verses from Wiz Khalifa and samples an extract from Lily Allen’s “Who’d Have Known” for the chorus. As for the video, it’s okay. T-Pain and Wiz Khalifa went to Amsterdam and are seen walking through the city at night and visiting the infamous Red Light District. I was hoping for a cameo from Lily though.

J Cole has a new song out called “Lost Ones”. The 26-year old rapper recently dropped his debut album “Cole World” and I think he is definitely one artist to keep an eye on. As for the song, it deals with some pretty serious issues as it tells the story of dealing with an unwanted pregnancy. Julie Pilat, Assistant Program Director and Music Director at KIIS said “It could be the most raw, emotional, and raw hip hop to hit the streets in a minute and is definitely a must have.” I can’t help but agree with her. What do you think?

Timbaland recently released the music video for his song “Pass at Me”. The song, which features rapper Pitbull, is a new dance number from the 39-year old producer and songwriter. Timbaland recently spoke about the song, saying that he was inspired by Lou Bega’s track “Mambo No. 5”. He described the song as “It’s not sterile. A lot of dance music out there is too clean – this one is [all about] bass hits and it makes you move!” As for the video, it’s that regular hip hop and dance video where you see a lot of hot girls shaking their thing, yachts, mansions, beaches and pools.

50 Cent is apparently facing a lawsuit for employing known violent criminal Dwayne McKenzie. The lawsuit was spurred from an incident at the rapper’s mansion, where Dwayne invited over some women for a party and then made “graphic and vulgar sexual requests” to partygoer Vasti Ortiz. When she didn’t go along and tried to leave, she claims that Dwayne forced another woman at the party to beat her. According to the lawsuit, Vasti believes that 50 Cent should have known about Dwayne’s violent history, and as a result shouldn’t have hired the man and should be held responsible for the incident. Seeing as this all went down at the hip hop artist’s mansion, I can see where he can be held accountable.Read More
Growing up around and being one of the rappers to make rap music about issues that matter, Ice T is disappointed with the direction that most hip hop artists are taking their music. In a recent interview, the veteran rapper said “I want to see some little motherf**kers get together like a Public Enemy and give these fools a wake up call like, ‘F**k this jewelry and cars bulls**t,’ and bring it back to Armageddon! Don’t get it twisted – the people that are making music now, I’m not mad at them. People think I’m mad at pop music [but] I’m not. I’m just saying the conscious music is lacking. There’s no roots… Where are those kids that are gonna come out and really push the envelope? N.W.A did F**k tha Police, we were going hard, we were getting arrested...Read More
A new song called “Trumpet Lights” from Chris Brown has recently leaked online. The track was produced by Swizz Beatz, who has been a frequent collaborator with the R&B singer. The song is an explosive eclectic record with loads of horns, auto-tune and some hip hop swag from Chris. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea now that I think about it but the song still sounds pretty unfinished so there’s still room for improvement so I’m reserving final judgment until then. In any case, it all points out that “Trumpet Lights” comes from the recording sessions of Chris’ upcoming album “Fortune”. All we have to do now is wait to see if it will make the final cut.

In a surprise performance, Jay-Z and Kanye West took to the stage at the 2011 MTV VMAs at Nokia Theatre LA Live in Los Angeles this past Sunday to perform their song “Otis”. Do I even have to say how amazing this performance is? The mere fact that you have these two hip hop moguls collaborating and then seeing them perform live is just surreal. It’s like a clash of the titans but in a really good way. These two have really revived my interest in hip hop, which is funny since I’m really not their biggest fans when they’re on their own. But together, they are magic.

The hip hop duo Bad Meets Evil, comprised of rappers Eminem and Royce da 5’9, has premiered the music video for their latest single “Lighters” via VEVO. The Bruno Mars-assisted track is pretty hot on the charts right now, staying within the Top 10 on US iTunes and has peaked at #5 on Billboard’s Hot 100. As for the video, I liked it. It’s pretty basic and nothing to be all excited about. I loved the ending with all the lights in the air though. But honestly, this was underwhelming considering the beautiful message of this song. It definitely could have been better.

Following their crowning of Lady Gaga as the Queen of Pop, Rolling Stone magazine has now named Eminem as the King of Hip Hop. A lot of fans have taken to their Twitter accounts to express both their agreement and disappointment since. Based on numbers and a bunch of categories in which those numbers are calculated (sales, Grammys, followers, Billboard presence, airtime play, etc), the facts are the facts. Rolling Stone even has all of the charts and math drawn out, category by category, for anyone who refuses to believe it. Coming in second place to Eminem was Lil Wayne. Drake, Kanye West and Jay-Z rounded out the top 5. Interestingly enough, Nicki Minaj, the only woman on the Kings list, placed number 6. Congratulations to Eminem!Read More
