Will.i.am’s formula for success
Mar 10, 2010 Black Eyed Peas, Will.I.Am
The singer from the Black Eyed Peas recently shared his views on success with all of us mere mortals. In will.i.am’s opinion, you can only be successful if you give to charity. This is what he said on the matter: “It’s one thing to make it – and you’ve got your own apartment, or house, or car – and you keep it for you. That’s not making it. Making it is spreading it.” Apparently will.i.am is a big fan of charity and thinks its important to share one’s wealth and success. Strange, no mention about all of those stolen songs for his band, but then again, if he can put a few kids through college just by stealing a bit of music, who’s to question will.i.am’s ways?

Snoop Dogg Does Comedy
Mar 10, 2010 Snoop Dogg
Rapper Snoop Dogg is teaming up with comedian Mike Epps in a comedy stage show called ‘Imagine That!’ portraying former nightclub performers in jail who are trying to break out. Mike said “This is an incredible opportunity to combine our similar, but different worlds of entertainment together on stage for the first time.” Snoop added “We’ve worked together in the past on some projects and knew that our audiences would love to see us bring Hip-Hop music and Hip-Hop comedy together on stage.” The tour begins on April 27 at Harrah’s Rincon Casino in San Diego. Will you watch it?

D’Angelo tries to hook up with the wrong person
Mar 9, 2010 Hip Hop
The singer was apparently arrested recently after he made the very unpleasant mistake of soliciting a forty-dollar carrot wax from an undercover policewoman. After arresting D’Angelo, she searched his car too and found twelve thousand dollars in it. It looks like he wasn’t too short on money. Maybe if he had offered a better price he wouldn’t even have been in this situation. But as it turns out, D’Angelo might very well end up doing carrot waxes himself and for much, much less.

J-Kwon has been found
Mar 6, 2010 Hip Hop
Or rather, he has given out his location so to speak. Apparently the rapper has been missing for some time and people have started to get worried, but only recently J-Kwon contacted his label, Gracie Entertainment, to let them know he’s all hunky-dory. J-Kwon apparently didn’t want to share any official words so the label’s CEO just reported the following: “I am very happy to let everyone know that I personally spoke with J-Kwon today, and he is okay. He’d like to send a sincere apology to his friends and everyone who showed concern this week. He was taking some time to himself as he sometimes does, not realizing that people would start to worry after a while.” Yeah, but what’s friends and family worrying compared to losing the record deal, eh? It’s good that J-Kwon decided to contact the label to let them know he’s still a safe investment, a wise move.

Juvenile’s grass is greener on the other side
Mar 1, 2010 Juvenile
Or so he’s going to have to believe for a time. It seems that yet another rapper has been arrested for possession… not guns this time, but pot. Rapper Juvenile was recently booked by the New Orleans police after they discovered some marijuana on him. Juvenile admitted to having the stuff in possession. Maybe the judge will go easy on him for that, but it does look like Juvenile is going to be sent away for a while… away to a grey place from which the grass will always look greener on the other side simply because it really is.
Akon gives up his radio show
The singer was supposed to do a two-hour show every Saturday night for a London radio station but after just one broadcast it seems Akon saw fit to leave his newfound profession. This is what a spokesperson at the station said about Akon’s sudden change of heart: “Due to Akon’s commitments, including working on a brand new album, we won’t be broadcasting a regular show on 95.8 Capital FM for the time being. Our conversations about future shows are ongoing as we explore other opportunities that may work for both of us.” Working on a new album is definitely tops and a very long and hard job at that. And Akon’s fans cannot be kept waiting, now can they? It’s not like they might’ve enjoyed hearing him live on the radio as opposed to some digital recording of him.
The Dream gets future offspring a car
Feb 25, 2010 Christina Milian
Now this is excellent family planning right here. Rapper The Dream who is expecting his first child with his wife Christina Milian and he’s already bought his future child a car. This is what The Dream said about being a parent: “The baby will be here Sunday, no later than Sunday! The baby already has a car, I got a house just for the baby – Christina can’t get in the baby’s car. I’m giving all my attention that I usually give to Christina to the baby, all the flowers I usually give Christina, I’m giving them to the baby.” Disregarding the fact that cars might be obsolete by the time The Dream’s kid actually gets a license, is the man out of his mind? One might think The Dream is going to completely ignore his wife after the child is born. It’s all part of the family planning, isn’t it?

Drake Loves the Environment
Hip hop superstar Drake is going on a college tour beginning in April and will be promoting eco-friendly technology, teaming up with The Campus Connection Tour. During the tour, the rapper/singer will be using biodegradable materials both on his tour bus and backstage as well as making sure the dressing room accommodations and meals are all environmentally-conscious. That’s a pretty good idea. Maybe other artists will follow suit. It takes one influential person to inspire others. Let’s hope Drake’s message will reach a lot of other people who will follow suit. It’s for the greater good of people and our earth.
R. Kelly wants a piece too
Jan 29, 2010 R. Kelly
Of all the people who would gnaw and claw at the Michael Jackson estate in order to get a piece of it, you wouldn’t expect R. Kelly to be among them. But it seems that this is the case as the singer’s representatives are claiming that Michael Jackson never did pay for his usage of “Ignition” during his show “Michael Jackson’s Private Home Movies” so it’s time for the estate to pay up for that debt. In truth, the amount R. Kelly’s representatives are claiming to be owed could actually be named insignificant since it’s a paltry three thousand dollars, but then again, you never know which one will be the drop that fills the glass. Maybe R. Kelly’s small pinch might just make the big colossus come crashing down.

Diddy’s gift for his son
Jan 25, 2010 Diddy
It must be really cool to have a mega-rap star as a father. This is probably how Justin, Diddy’s son, feels after recently getting to be sixteen. As if the party he had wasn’t enough, Diddy went ahead and bought his son a Maybach sports car that cost 360 000 dollars. Just what the world needs, another sixteen-year old, barely with his learner’s permit in hand, cruising the streets in a high-speed car. Diddy really showed some kick-ass father-ship with this one. Justin probably loves his dad all the more after this recent purchase and of course everybody got to see that he got it on MTV. What more could the kid want?

Ja Rule gun possession case still stands
Jan 24, 2010 Ja Rule
Another rapper with another .40 handgun that’s going to be tried for it, but it seems Ja Rule tried to have the case dropped by claiming that the police had no cause to search his car the day they found the gun. His judge didn’t buy it of course, but he did give Ja Rule a break. Apparently the rapper also admitted that he had some weed in his pocket and that is not going to be used against him in his trial. Isn’t there a bit of incongruence here? They’re going to have a trial about a gun that was found accidentally, but they’re not going to hold it against him that he had drugs on him. Is marijuana suddenly legal for Ja Rule?

Chris Brown surfaces once more
Jan 23, 2010 Chris Brown
The infamous singer with the very, very nasty reputation of a “violent man” was recently seen at Jean-Paul Gautlier’s “pro-fighter” fashion show, and he even posed with the designer who had make-up and fake blood on. Now that’s a really befitting pose for Chris Brown, isn’t it? They should have a t-shirt made of that, or better yet, get Madame Tousaud’s to make a real-life copy of Rihanna, with all of the “effects” of course and Chris Brown could pose with that. A picture like that would probably turn a lot of heads… perhaps not with the best intentions, but that’s just a minor detail.

Snoop Dogg is a role model
Jan 22, 2010 Snoop Dogg
And it seems that the rapper isn’t just any role model for any old run down, poor kid, no, Snoop Dogg is a role model for big people, like Tom Cruise whom the rapper thinks whishes to be in his shoes. This is what Snoop Dogg said on the matter: “When I started to star in films I used to say, ‘I dream of becoming the black version of Tom Cruise.’ Today I think it’s the other way round, ‘Tom Cruise could dream of becoming the white version of Snoop Dogg.’” Right, well, who wouldn’t give anything to be any type of version of Snoop Dogg? Just imagine… you could be like one of Santa’s helpers, but with way more benefits.

will.i.am is loosing it
Jan 21, 2010 Black Eyed Peas, Will.I.Am
The Black Eyed Peas singer is apparently losing touch with his professional nature. It seems will.i.am was really steamed-up in the backstage of the Peoples Choice Awards that when his assistant didn’t have his drink ready immediately he hit the roof. It is a good thing for will.i.am though that he didn’t hit his assistant… after all, nobody can go too far with a broken reputation these days. But it was the assistant’s fault too, though… it can get very dehydrating to perform a show. will.i.am deserves more careful attention than just that… after all, he is a star with special star needs.

Jay-Z will be performing at the BRITs
Jan 19, 2010 BRIT, Brit Awards, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga
Never a dull day in paradise, it seems. No matter how successful his career, Jay-Z seems to always be able to get an extra gig in there somewhere. Next up: the BRIT awards where Jay-Z will also be performing alongside Lady GaGa and many others. Of course the rapper isn’t just going there to sing simply because he likes to boggie… no, Jay-Z is going to the BRITs because he too is nominated for two awards. How come he doesn’t leave some for the little guys, too? What rapper can make a decent career for himself anymore if Jay-Z is over there hogging all of the glory?

Wyclef Jean calls for evacuation of Haiti capital
Jan 19, 2010 Wyclef Jean
The struggle continues and Wyclef Jean keeps more or less true to his word of doing everything he can for his home country of Haiti. It seems the singer believes the nation’s capital, Port-au-Prince, needs to be evacuated immediately, however the way he goes about it might suggest that Wyclef Jean is a bit out of his league. This is what he said on the matter: “We need to migrate at least 2 million people. I give you my word, if I tell them to go, they will go. But they need somewhere to go to.” Well, well, looks like the people of Haiti have a new local god, don’t they? Isn’t Wyclef Jean taking his influence a tad too far this time?

Diddy’s childhood heroes
Jan 18, 2010 Diddy
At the recent BET Honor Awards the famous rapper shared with everyone the identity of his true childhood heroes. It seems that while a child Diddy had great respect and fascination with the men who handled the garbage. He said that he enjoyed watching their “synchronized art and work ethic”. So what cartoon did Diddy grow up in? Because only there did garbage men actually have a “synchronized art” while working… mainly because they were probably singing. Perhaps Diddy was at some point one of those children who gets confused about what reality and TV and which is which.

Wyclef Jean’s charitable actions
Jan 18, 2010 Wyclef Jean
Seeing as how the President or the Army aren’t really doing too much, Wyclef Jean decided to start his own charity fund so that he can aid his native country of Haiti in its time of need. However, it seems that the way his charity is handling the funds is not quite in the best interests of its goals. Wyclef Jean apparently took some nifty sums out of its accounts for musical reasons such as charity concerts, purchasing airtime and whatnot. It looks like Wyclef Jean isn’t really getting to his own point of doing something real about the situation over there… why spend money on shows when you could spend it on medical supplies or hired labor for repairing all the damages. But then again, how would Wyclef Jean get to perform a bit for the people if he’s stuck doing numbers with medical suppliers and constructors? Something doesn’t quite click there, does it?

Ray J does not bat for the opposite team
Jan 13, 2010 Ray J, Young Buck
After one of the former contestants of “For the love of Ray J”, Monica Danger, revealed to everyone on the radio that Ray J is gay and involved with rapper Young Buck, the singer was quick to state the opposite. This is what Ray J said on the matter: “I still got love for Danger, that’s one of my peoples. But I didn’t return her calls for the last 2-3 weeks. So she threatened to say ‘I’m going to tell people you’re gay!’ She went along and actually did it! I’m not gay but I got love for gay people because I work with gay people… girls and dudes. I’m comfortable with my sexuality.” Well, there you have it… incontestable proof that Ray J plays for the home team. Still, why would a former would-be girlfriend do something like this just for the attention? Maybe she wasn’t too happy that Ray J called her bluff.

Wyclef Jean to the rescue
Jan 13, 2010 Barack Obama, Wyclef Jean
Following the great natural disaster that has just struck Haiti, Wyclef Jean who is apparently native from the island nation has vowed to assist in any way possible. This is what Wyclef Jean said on the matter: “Over two million people in Port-au-Prince tonight face catastrophe alone. We must act now. President Obama has already said that the US stands ‘ready to assist’ the Haitian people. The US Military is the only group trained and prepared to offer that assistance immediately. They must do so as soon as possible. The international community must also rise to the occasion and help the Haitian people in every way possible.” A noble endeavor on Wyclef Jean’s behalf there is no doubt about that. But still where is his support? So far, president Barrack Obama and the US Army are doing all the work… or at least they are going to.
