New Video from Drake – Headlines

Drake has recently premiered the official music video for his new single “Headlines”. The track serves as the first official release off of his forthcoming sophomore studio album “Take Care”, which is due out in stores on October 24th. The song has managed to crack the top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and is staying strong within the top 30 on iTunes USA. With the video out, his upcoming scheduled promo and the great single, I have no doubt that it’ll be a new top 10 hit. As for the video, it follows the rapper spitting his verses throughout the different locations in his hometown of Toronto. It’s pretty sleek. Drake’s pals Y-Minus, Noah “40” Shebib, The Weeknd, Boi-1da and Kromatik make cameos in the video.

Drake releases two new songs

On September 11th, Drake released on his blog two new songs: “Free Spirit” and “Club Paradise”. They will not be included on the album “Take care”.
The rapper put on his blog two free songs for his fans. “Free spirit” is a collaboration with Rick Ross and “Club Paradise” is named after a club in Toronto and produced by Noah “40″ Shebib.
“Release this song for my man Avery… it was his favorite song at the recordings,” said Drake.
“I like to be a free spirit. Some don’t like that, but that’s the way I am.” Drake said citing Princess Diana.
About the album “Take that”, Drake said: “I lean over as many points as I can when writing a song. I write a part and where many would stop, I keep going, thus seeking to make the song flow...

Drake Drops Freebies

Drake took to his Twitter account this past weekend to announce that he was releasing some free music for his fans that day. The Canadian singer/rapper dropped three new tracks called “Club Paradise”, which was produced by Noah “40” Shebib; “Free Spirit”, which features Rick Ross; and “Round of Applause”, a remix to a Waka Flocka original. Personally, “Club Paradise” is my favorite. Word has it that none of these tracks will be on Drake’s upcoming album “Take Care”, due out on October 24th. But if you like them, you can head over to his OVO blog at octobersveryown.blogspot.com to download them.

New Song from The Weeknd – The Zone

The Weeknd has a new song out called “The Zone”. The track, which features Canadian rapper/singer Drake, comes off of the R&B singer’s latest mix tape called “Thursday”. If you’re unaware, The Weeknd is the stage name of Toronto-based artist Abel Tesfaye. Drake has always been a big supporter of The Weeknd ever since hearing his music, even before coming into the scene in March 2011. It’s actually publicity created by Drake via Twitter that pushed The Weeknd’s initial popularity. As for the song, it has a chilling vibe that’s heightened more with The Weeknd’s vocals. The verse by Drake was a nice addition to the song. I like it but I understand that it may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Eminem Named King of Hip Hop

Following their crowning of Lady Gaga as the Queen of Pop, Rolling Stone magazine has now named Eminem as the King of Hip Hop. A lot of fans have taken to their Twitter accounts to express both their agreement and disappointment since. Based on numbers and a bunch of categories in which those numbers are calculated (sales, Grammys, followers, Billboard presence, airtime play, etc), the facts are the facts. Rolling Stone even has all of the charts and math drawn out, category by category, for anyone who refuses to believe it. Coming in second place to Eminem was Lil Wayne. Drake, Kanye West and Jay-Z rounded out the top 5. Interestingly enough, Nicki Minaj, the only woman on the Kings list, placed number 6. Congratulations to Eminem!

Nicki Minaj Gives Drake a Lap Dance

Nicki Minaj once referred to Drake as “my brother, my husband, my friend” and their close relationship can often be witnessed whenever they’re seen together. That was very much on display during the Femme Fatale tour stop in Toronto when the female rapper brought out the Canadian hip hop artist to perform an energetic rendition of their collaboration “Moment 4 Life”. Just a few minutes later, Nicki got frisky and did a Britney Spears when she gave Drake a lap dance to remember. How about we forget the whole “brother” part of their relationship and just have them couple up?

Lil Wayne and Drake Making an Album

After seeing Lil Wayne and Drake perform together at the BET Awards, I’m pretty excited after learning of this bit of news. Following the footsteps of Jay-Z and Kanye West, rappers Lil Wayne and Drake have decided to team up for their own collaborative album. Birdman spoke about the project, saying “That’s definitely going to get done. It’s older versus younger. I listened to a few songs [off Watch the Throne], and it feels like an older feel to me. I think with Drake and Wayne, they young, they young cats. You got 23 and 28. Then you got Jay-Z and them, who are older and really on their way out the game. Then you got Wayne and Drake and them, who are still youthful to the game. So it’s two different types of music all the way across the board...

Chris Brown Releases Mix Tape

Chris Brown is definitely a man of his word. The R&B singer has released his new mix tape “Boy in Detention” today. It’s Chris’ first full hip hop work and I am loving every second of it. The 21-track free mix tape features collaborations with the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Tyga, Big KRIT, Swizz Beatz and Justin Bieber’s rapper alter-ego. The mix tape also includes Chris’ remix of Drake’s “Marvin’s Room” and Big Sean’s “My Last”. Chris could have easily made money off of these but they’re free. Now that is a great gift to the fans! Now I can’t wait for his “Fortune” album to come out and see what he has in store.

New Song from Drake – Headlines

Drake has a new song out called “Headlines”. The track, which was produced by Matthew Samuels and Noah Shebib, will serve as the official lead single from the hip hop singer’s sophomore album called “Take Care”, which hits stores on October 24th. Drake is back just one year after releasing his debut opus “Thank Me Later” which went platinum in the US. I love “Headlines”. The song has a simple production but Drake’s rap verses are definitely fire. This is another epic from Drake and I’m sure it will be a big hit for him. Check it out and see what I mean.

New Video from DJ Khaled – It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over

DJ Khaled teams up with the queen of hip hop and R&B Mary J Blige, and rappers Fabolous and Jadakiss in “It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over”. The song is the official third single from the DJ/record producer’s debut album “We The Best Forever”, which is in stores now. The album didn’t get a good start when the Lil Wayne-assisted first single “Welcome to My Hood” tanked on the charts. He managed to score a top 10 hit in the US with “I’m on One” featuring Drake. However, I just think that this third single is a bad choice to put out. The song is average and doesn’t really stand out for me. In any case, check out the video for it. If only the song is as easily likeable as the video.
