Beyonce and Kings of Leon Collaboration
Feb 8, 2010 Beyonce, Grammy Award, Kings of Leon
After winning six Grammy awards last week, Beyonce reportedly approached rock band Kings of Leon and suggested that they collaborate on a track. A source said “Beyonce looked stunning and was chatting to virtually every major star on hand. She kissed Kings of Leon on their cheeks and congratulated them on winning an award for ‘Use Somebody’. They were chatting for ages. She knows how huge they are in the UK and loves their album. She was scouting for people to collaborate with and has been talking about doing something different with a rock band. Kings of Leon would be perfect.”

Rolling Stone Member Busted
Dec 7, 2009 Rolling Stones
Rolling Stones band member Ron Wood was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting his 21-year old girlfriend. The 62-year old rock star was taken by police and held overnight in jail until he made bail the next morning. If you do the math, he and his girlfriend has a 41 year age difference. Geeze, he could pass as the girl’s freaking grandfather already! I’m surprised that he didn’t break a hip. Let’s get real people, the dude belongs in the Jurassic era. I just hope that his girlfriend is ok. Maybe we’ll get more details if the girl decides to file a lawsuit or something.

U2 Concert to Stream Live on YouTube
Oct 23, 2009 Concert, Live, U2, Video, YouTube
U2 have confirmed via video blog that their sold-out concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in California, Sunday 25th October 2009 will be streamed free, in full and live on YouTube. It’s the first time a show of this size will be streamed live.
The Rose Bowl show is the penultimate U2 show this year – with more to come in 2010 – and already is set to host the venue’s biggest ever audience of over 96, 000 fans. The 360˚ Tour, which has been critically acclaimed and “re-invents rock’n’roll”*, will now boast unique access for fans worldwide – as fans in territories yet to be visited by the tour, or not at all, will be able to enjoy the whole show online. Managed in partnership with Live Nation, this sell-out tour has broken attendance records in most venues it has visited – its success due in part to increased capacity coupled with a lower ticket price and great sight lines afforded by the stunning in-the-round stage set. Visit U2.com or youtube.com/u2official for details of how to join in this ground-breaking on-line event.
U2 manager Paul McGuinness said – “The band has wanted to do something like this for a long time. As we’re filming the LA show, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend the party beyond the stadium. Fans often travel long distances to come to see U2 – this time U2 can go to them, globally.”
YouTube will be streaming live across five continents. The show will be available in the usual You Tube way, as video-on-demand, following two full replays – after the live stream – on both U2.com and You Tube.
“YouTube is thrilled to be able to provide our global audience with a live streaming performance from one of the world’s greatest bands” – Chris Maxcy, Director of YouTube Partner Development. “We are always looking for new ways to connect fans around the world with their favourite artists, and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that.”
Alice in Chains talk with Metallica about new album
Oct 16, 2009 Album, Alice in Chains, Metallica, Song, Video
Today, and for the next 3 weeks, AOL’s Noisecreep.com will be releasing an exclusive and/or unheard audio clip from the amazing FMQB Metallica/Alice in Chains interview, “Inside Alice In Chains: Black Gives Way To Blue.” This week’s clip features Metallica talking to Alice in Chains about their collaboration with Elton John on the song “Black Gives Way To Blue.” “It’s a really intense song, and a really open-hearted song to Layne and the experience that we went through,” Cantrell says to Hetfield and Ulrich about the title track. “Facing up to all of that stuff, and owning all the good, and owning all the bad, and moving forward together. It was a lot of big steps…things were pretty black for us. It’s pretty literal to that, and things are starting to get a little lighter.” Keep checking back in the coming weeks for parts 2 and 3 of this classic interview.

NERD Gets New Member
It’s no longer strictly testosterone for the hip hop band NERD as Pharrell and the gang are balancing out the sausages by adding a female member. Their new lady singer is Rhea, who will make her debut on the group’s fourth album ‘Instant Gratification’ which will come out in 2010. Why did they feel the need to add to the group? Pharell thinks that the addition of a girl will allow them to “go in so many more directions, because we have the vocal support.” Do you want to know how Rhea auditioned to be a member? Get this – she sang ‘His Eye is on the Sparrow’ via SKYPE!

Black Eyed Peas Sets Record
Oct 9, 2009 Black Eyed Peas, Mariah Carey
According to Newsweek, ‘I Gotta Feeling’ from the Black Eyed Peas’ album ‘The END’, has spent 14 weeks at number 1, trying Mariah Carey’s record for the longest running number 1 hit of the decade. Wow! For a song that I can’t that much into and I could describe as mediocre at best, especially for a band like them, that’s a pretty long time. I think it’s great for them though, so congratulations! I just wish they could bust out an even bigger hit that’s much more deserving of the spot and even be able to surpass that record. But that’s just me.

“Over You” (3 stars) — delivers “shiny heartbreak that splits the difference between *NSYNC and Maroon 5 – all riffing synths… and tunefulness.”
Entertainment Weekly
Honor Society are “crafty pop rock dudes” with songs that “shimmer with freeze-dried funk licks…”
People Magazine
“…fans will likely swoon over …” whose “strongest tracks include the power ballads ‘Where Are You Now’ and ‘Goodnight My Love’ both showcasing Bruno’s emotive tenor. ‘My Own Way’ is an infectious pop-rocker.”

Last Original Sugababe Leaves
Sep 25, 2009 Music Bands, Sugababes
After a lot of cat fights within the band, Keisha Buchanan is no longer a member of Sugababes and has decided to pursue a solo career. The announcement was made on their official website which said “The current line-up of the Sugababes has disbanded. Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah will continue as the Sugababes and will be joined by new member Jade Ewen. They release their album ‘Sweet 7’ on November 23rd through Island Records. Keisha Buchanan will continue to record for Island Records as a solo artist.” Keisha was the last of the original line up to have left the band. I wonder what went down with the other girls to have her kicked out. It’s obvious that the problem wasn’t with the label as she’s still with them as a solo artist.

Aerosmith forced to cancel summer tour after lead singer is hospitalised
Aug 18, 2009 Aerosmith, Concert Tour
Aerosmith have been forced to cancel their summer tour because of injuries sustained by frontman Steven Tyler.
The veteran rocker was hospitalised on 5 August, after tumbling off-stage during a show in South Dakota.
Tyler, 61, was left with a broken shoulder and needed 20 stitches to a head wound.
“Words can’t express the sadness I feel for having to cancel this tour,” guitarist Joe Perry said in a statement.
Perry thanked the band’s fans and insisted they hoped to “get the Aerosmith machine up and running again as soon as possible”.
Tyler injured himself after thunderstorms delayed the show in the city of Sturgis by more than an hour.
It was the fourth time in Tyler’s long career that the singer has fallen from the stage.

No Green Day at Wal-Mart
May 26, 2009 CD, Green Day, Rock
If you are yet to avail of Green Day’s new album ‘21st Century Breakdown’, go get your copy now. But don’t expect to get it at the low prices of Wal-Mart. The band refuses to let the superstore distribute the album because they were asked to provide a censored version. Front man Billie Joe Armstrong said in an interview “They want artists to censor their records in order to be carried in there. We just said no. We’ve never done it before. You feel like you’re in 1953 or something.” Guitarist Mike Dirnt added “As the biggest record store in the America, they should probably have an obligation to sell people the correct art.” Wal-Mart has a policy to not stock any CD with a parental advisory sticker. It seems foolish to lose business over something that could and should be moderated. It’s not that hard to ask for ID before selling a kid something considered “adult content”.

New Rise Against Video
May 22, 2009 Music, Music Artists, Music Bands, Rise Against, Video
New Video from Rise Against for Hero of War now Premiering on Myspace!
The following is a message from the band:
We’ve just completed our new video for the song “Hero Of War” off of our record, Appeal To Reason. “Hero Of War” is the story of one soldier, not all soldiers, as he battles not just the war around him, but the war that rages within. Inspired by true events, we were given the choice to either document the tribulations of these times as they unfold around us, or ignore them. To ignore these problems, in our opinion, is letting down the brave men and women who risk everything. “Hero Of War” is our attempt to lift the stigma that surrounds everything from the skyrocketing suicide rate of troops, torture, internal sexual abuse, an under-funded VA, and the growing number of military personnel fighting Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as they return home. We hope this song and this video help the simmering dialogue about these problems evolve into a rolling boil.
-Rise Against
“The notion that a radical is one who hates his country is naive and usually idiotic. He is, more likely, one who loves his country more than the rest of us, and is thus more disturbed than the rest of us when he sees it debauched. He is not a bad citizen turning to crime; he is a good citizen driven to despair.”- H.L. Mencken
