Lloyd Banks Arrested
Jan 13, 2010 Rapper
Rapper Lloyd Banks was arrested on suspicion of assault in Canada over the weekend for allegedly attacking club promoter Chris Hines. The rapper came late to his gig at Club NV and only performed one song before he walked off of the stage. Chris, who had booked the show, refused to pay Lloyd which prompted an unfair fight as the rapper was accompanied by his three man entourage who were also brought up on charges. Chris was admitted to a hospital for multiple contusions and head trauma. Can no one keep their hands to themselves anymore? Violence is an inexcusable act!

Busta Rhymes’ assault money
Dec 4, 2009 Busta Rhymes, Concert
The rapper recently had to pay 75 thousand dollars to a certain Alex Reid who claims he was hit by a bottle thrown by Busta Rhymes. Apparently this whole thing happened because Alex Reid wasn’t at a show to see Busta Rhymes, but another rapper and this sparked a bit of animosity between the two… especially from Busta Rhymes’ behalf. Well, this is one way to try and make fans… and probably lose the respect of the fan base in general. But hey, just wait until we’re a tribal society again… then Busta Rhymes is going to have a very big fan base.

Miami DJ Commits Murder
Oct 15, 2009 Drugs, Music Artists
DJ Seasunz, whose real name is Juan Carlos Portieles, was arrested for the murder of his 18-year old girlfriend, Jaclyn Torrealba. The girl was last seen at Club Space at 2AM on Sunday and there had been no sign of her since then. By Sunday night, the popular Miami DJ turned himself in to police where he led authorities to a gray Toyota Camry with the body of his girlfriend inside. Portieles has a troubled history with the law – he’s been arrested three times, one for assault and twice for drugs. Torrealba was 12 years his junior but it’s no surprise as he’s been known to playing to a younger crowd and promoting all-ages nights at several clubs.

Wrigley Completely Done with Chris Brown
Sep 11, 2009 Chris Brown, Rihanna
Wrigley is formally terminating their relationship with Chris Brown. The chewing gum company had previously suspended their campaign with the R&B singer in February after the assault on Rihanna, saying they “believe Mr. Brown should be afforded the same due process as any citizen.” But after pleading guilty to felony assault last month, Wrigley has given Chris the permanent boot. The singer may have dodged doing hard time in jail but losing endorsements would seem to be a harder hit as he fails to earn money. He should really start thinking of other fallback careers by now. I doubt that he’s going to last any longer.

Chris Brown Doesn’t Remember Hitting Rihanna
Sep 3, 2009 Chris Brown, Rihanna
Chris Brown opened up to CNN’s Larry King in an exclusive interview. It was the singer’s first television interview since he was arrested for the assault on Rihanna. The 20-year old R&B singer admitted that he was still in love with the Barbadian beauty and that he will be affected if she decides to date other men. He was shown a photo of Rihanna’s bruised face and he said “When I look at it now, it’s just like, wow, like, I can’t — I can’t believe that — that actually happened.” Chris also said that he’s now focused on moving forward, saying “I just need to prove to people I can be a role model. That’s not who I am as a person, and that’s not who I promise I want to be. I made a mistake and I — and it was just something I have to live up and own.”

Jay-Z’s Bodyguard Gets Charged
Aug 27, 2009 Jay-Z, Music Artists, Music Videos, Rapper
Jay-Z’s bodyguard was charged with a crime for last weekend’s tripod-tossing fight with a local TV reporter in Croatia. Law enforcement sources say that the rapper’s bodyguard has been charged with destroying personal property and assault, based on a complaint filed by the reporter who got into a scuffle with Jay and Beyonce’s entourage that night. Video of the incident actually surfaced on the internet showing the whole confrontation, including the part where the reporter throws his camera sticks at Jay-Z’s bodyguard and the bodyguard threw the tripod into the sea. Police are trying to track down the hired muscle for questioning regarding the incident.

Foxy Brown in Trouble with IRS
Jul 24, 2009 Foxy Brown
It seems that legal drama follows Foxy Brown wherever she goes. The sassy rapper has been slapped with a lawsuit from the IRS for failing to pay over $600,000 in back taxes. According to legal documents, Foxy failed to make tax payments from the years 2003 to 2006. The IRS has already brought the case to a New York court in order to collect the money they are owed from the rapper. If you remember, Foxy served 8 out of a 12 month sentence at Rikers early last year which stemmed from assault charges. You have to wonder where she’s going to get that much money fast.

Reporter Wanted for Posting Videos of Rihanna Case
Jul 10, 2009 Chris Brown, Rihanna, Video
Legal documents were recently filed asking a judge to hold a reporter in the Chris Brown case in contempt of court. According to the documents, Russell Alan Wetanson runs a website that posted a video of interviews in the hallway outside the courtroom where the singer pled guilty to felony assault. Court rules prohibit that kind of taping. Wetanson, who also happens to be a lawyer, was notified by the public information officer of the court regarding the violation and the videos have since been removed from his website. However, a contempt hearing could now be set which makes it a possibility for Wetanson to be sent to jail. Why couldn’t they do that to Chris instead?

Chris Brown Cops a Plea
Jun 29, 2009 Chris Brown, Rihanna, Singer
Chris Brown is nothing but an epic coward as a plea bargain has been accepted in the assault case against the douche bag of a singer. The plea deal will require him to spend 180 days in a labor domestic violence program and get five years probation for felony assault. If he violates the probation in any way, he’ll get four years in prison. Rihanna appeared in court but did not have to testify as the plea deal was already made. The judge also asked her if she wanted to have a restraining order in place but she opted not to. Both the court and Rihanna are too lenient.

Foxy Brown Gets Dismissed
May 5, 2009 Foxy Brown, Rapper
Foxy Brown is off the hook as the lawsuit that was filed in 2007 against the rapper claiming that she beat down her neighbor with a Blackberry has been dismissed. Even though Foxy pled guilty to the charges of the cell phone assault, the lawsuit was dropped by Justice Robert Miller in a Brooklyn Supreme Court after finding out that Foxy had never been served with the proper legal papers. How the heck did that slip through the cracks and was only found out now? It’s pretty obvious that Foxy got lucky here. Let’s just hope that she doesn’t do it again.

Progress Made in Chris Brown Assault Case
Apr 30, 2009 Chris Brown, R&B, Rihanna
According to a source, there’s some progress being made in the plea deal that Chris Brown has made in the Rihanna assault case. Exactly what that progress is remains unknown though. Chris is up against two felony charges following the violent February incident involving his now ex-girlfriend. Bargaining resumed yesterday and both parties tried to settle on a date for the R&B singer’s preliminary hearing. According to the source, however, though progress has been made, a solution is not “imminent” and “barring a last minute breakthrough”, it is unlikely that a deal will be announced anytime soon. I guess we’re going to have to wait for that hearing.
