Kanye West recently kicked off his new ‘Glow in the Dark’ tour and the first review is in! He not only took it to another level, he took it all the way to outer space. Actually, the Seattle Times reviewer says that “He not only took the concert experience to a new level, he took it to a new planet.” Okay. I’m officially jealous of whoever has caught the show and of whoever is holding tickets to see a show. I want to see it too! Is anyone holding on to an extra ticket and looking for a date? I’m free!

Times are getting tough for some of the music industry’s once hottest rappers. DMX has hit the college campus tour. The rapper performed at Indiana University last Wednesday night. Tickets were purchased for $25 through Lambda Chi Alpha. The concert was supposed to begin at 8:30PM but didn’t start until an hour later because DMX arrived late. Unfortunately for concertgoers, the concert shut down after just 3 songs because the organization told the University that the noise would be over by 9:30PM. When music was heard past that, police arrived to shut down the scene. That’s when things got bad. Profanities were yelled, students got maced – it just got really rowdy.

Much like the rest of the world, Buffalo, New York could care less about Avril Lavigne. Ticket sales for Avril’s current tour are so bad already and it gets worse by the day. Tickets for her upcoming show in Buffalo are selling so poorly that concert promoter Live Nation has had to cut down the prices drastically. You can now buy a whopping four tickets for just under $100 just to see Avril in her poorly reviewed show. I say just save your money and donate it to charity. But then again, with the way things are going, Avril can be considered charity already.

The Jonas Brothers — Kevin, 20, Joe, 18, and Nick, 15 — work it out at the Disney premiere of Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert held at the El Capitan Theatre on Thursday in Hollywood.
The Jo Bros toured with Miley Cyrus on the blockbuster Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus arena tour. And tickets are very hard to come by!
According to TV Guide, “Tickets went on sale Dec. 1, but the buzz is heating up as opening night draws closer. Miley’s flick, which highlights her performances from her recent 54-date tour, accounted for 30 percent of Thursday’s sales at Fandango.com. The site’s CEO said that the teen phenom’s film has been ‘the best-selling concert movie in Fandango’s history.’”

Just because it took them 13 years to deliver a studio sequel to their 1994 live album Hell Freezes Over, don’t say that it took the Eagles a long time to cash in on their reunion. They started cashing in almost immediately, driving up ticket prices into the stratosphere as they played gigs on a semi-regular basis well into the new millennium.
Fans were satisfied by the oldies and the band kept raking in the dough, so they could take their time making a new album. And did they ever take their time — the gap between 2007’s Long Road Out of Eden, their first album since 1979’s The Long Run, was nearly as long as that between their 1980 breakup and 1994 reunion. Far from indulging in a saturation campaign for this long-awaited record, the Eagles released the double-disc Long Road Out of Eden with surgical precision, indulging in few interviews and bypassing conventional retail outlets in favor of an exclusive release with Wal-Mart, who were not only the biggest retailer in America but where a good chunk of the band’s contemporary audience — equal parts aging classic rockers and country listeners — shopped

Radiohead’s experiment of letting the fans download their new album for free has proven to be a success when their website topped the chart of music websites. Now, some of the music industry’s biggest names are following in their footsteps.
Jamiroquai and Oasis are not contracted to a record label much like Radiohead. They are also rumored to be considering on following Radiohead’s actions. Oasis has already announced that their next single will be available for download for a mere 99 pence. The Charlatans are also offering their next album for free if they visit the site of radio station XFM. Madness is considering giving away its next album for free as well.
With rapidly declining CD sales and increasing download sales but still the same wide fanbase, the performers who choose to give away their music are expected to make money from sales of concert tickets and other merchandise.

The Queen of pop is planning another world tour next year to celebrate turning 50. Madonna, who turns 50 next August, will call the tour “Madonna at 50.” I would never pay that much money for tickets to see her. I think it’s messed up that she charges that much. Plus the fact that she does stuff just to piss people off bugs me. I don’t care that she was on a cross for part of her performance I care that she did it just to cause shit and piss people off. I can’t stand this lady anymore. I saw her in Hartford Ct. Why to pricey no air condition she was not that good she spent 1/2 the time changing cloths maybe showering it was so hot. And her back up dancers did alot of stuff I paid to see her not them. Plus she was preaching. I would see Justin Timberlake Again he rocked the HOLE time….

Led Zeppelin’s announcement of a one-off reunion show has caused the concert’s official website to crash - as millions of fans across the world rush to register their names for the ticket ballot. This is an incredible event that I bet no-one even imagined could happen. I thought that Led Zep was History! But these guys have an uncanny knack of dong the unthinkable when you think they are done with for good and the least expected. Anyways, what a nice thing to do for a friend or loved one. That’s absolutely Cool! Well done Guys You show what compassion means by actions. And what a great action. I have some words for these sites owners too, may be they just didn’t expect such a great response from the fans but still they should have had arrangements in place for such an event. I haven’t heard of a site break down in years, means like what could have been so drastic that the site stopped functioning.

Pearl Jam will play a private show for fan club members in Chicago on August 2, three days before its headlining stint at the city’s Lollapalooza festival, the rock group said on Tuesday.
Tickets for the show at the Vic Theatre will go on sale on Thursday, priced at $150 per pair (plus applicable fees). The Vic’s capacity is about 1,400 people, according to the venue’s web site.
Lollapalooza is Pearl Jam’s only U.S. appearance planned for 2007. Apart from a three-week European tour last month, the group has been laying low this year. The Seattle quintet spent much of 2006 on the road in support of a new self-titled album, its first studio release in almost four years.

The former American Idol star was forced to cancel her forthcoming UK tour due to poor ticket sales.
The singer had a number of dates scheduled across her homeland, but all of the shows have now been called off and refunds issued from the various sellers.
After the cancel of her tour the singer made a statement on official website. She told her fans: ”I can’t tell you how much I’ve been looking forward to getting out there to perform for y’all. In the craziness of the music business, performing is what I look forward to doing the most, so it really is disappointing for me to have to tell you that I won’t be coming out to tour this summer. The fact is that touring is just too much too soon.”
Clarkson said that her next tour in the UK would be scheduled as soon as possible after the singer prepares for the release of her new album “My December”.
“I promise you that we’re going to get back out there as soon as is humanly possible to give you a show that will be even better. Thanks for all of your love and continued support.”
Michael Rapino, chief executive of concert promoters LiveNation, told the Reuters news agency that sales had not been as successful as hoped.
He told reporters: ”Ticket sales have not been what we anticipated and we came to the realisation that we had bit off more than we could chew.”
Clarkson won the first series of American Idol and his released two highly successful pop albums in the US.

Barbara Streisand recently canceled her concert in Rome. It was scheduled for next month but it did meet many fans that complained of very high ticket prices. Organizers claimed the move had nothing to do with this. The official statement made by promoter Michael Cohl was:
“We met with unexpected production delays. We deeply apologize to the fans in Rome”
Ticket prices will be refunded and fans will be allowed to book a ticket at another European venue included in the tour. We have to think about one thing here. The prices were very high as they varied from around $200 to $1,200. The show was supposed to happen at the Flaminio Stadium, which has 24,000 seats. Another thing to be taken into account was that the average sales price for a ticket in Barbara’s last tour (2006) was $298 and it still did sell like crazy.

The Chemical Brothers just announced their sixth studio album release. It will be held on the 18th of June and the material will be called “We are The Night”. As expected, there will also be a single release earlier, on the 4th of the same month, for a track featured on the album called “Do It Again”.
In other news, the Chemical Brothers will hold a show at Chalk Farm’s Roundhouse on May 31 and will headline the Other Stage in Glastonbury on June 24. The band is well renowned for their shows and fans are expected to quickly buy all the tickets can be offered. It certainly became a good move for a club to book them and I must say that they do know how to raise a crowd off their chairs.

Willie Nelson today pled guilty to misdemeanor marijuana possession. What this means is that he will not have to face jail time for the offense. Instead he will pay a fine of $1024 to a Louisiana court and have six months’ probation. Are we at all surprised? I know I’m not. This is Willie Nelson we’re talking about. Marijuana possession is a requirement of his career path, and they should pre-print the tickets citing him for it.
During his short time in Louisiana, fans gathered outside the courthouse for autographs. Nelson was a gentleman as always and signed pieces of paper and such, shaking hands with the small crowd. I guess toking doesn’t affect his manners.

Lilly Allen isn’t making any friends in America right now. On the heels of her recent remarks about how “backward” Americans are, Lilly has come up against sagging interest in her less than stellar debut album Alright, Still. She’s a British pop star with huge aspirations and an even huger thirst. Yeah, she said that stuff about Americans, but she didn’t mean it because she was drunk. Uh-huh. This is me believing her. Insert sarcastic rolling of the eyes. Partly in response to her comments, partly in response to her lack of talent, Lilly has been refunding tickets all along her American tour. Lilly recently wrote on her MySpace page, “I am tired, but more than that I don’t think I have been giving my best performances recently.” Yep she’s tired of it, tired enough to pack it in and go home. She looks tired, doesn’t she? Maybe it’s all the booze. Good riddance, I say. Go on home and whine about how America hates you. Maybe it will inspire some good music for a change.
