New Video from Drake – Headlines

Drake has recently premiered the official music video for his new single “Headlines”. The track serves as the first official release off of his forthcoming sophomore studio album “Take Care”, which is due out in stores on October 24th. The song has managed to crack the top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and is staying strong within the top 30 on iTunes USA. With the video out, his upcoming scheduled promo and the great single, I have no doubt that it’ll be a new top 10 hit. As for the video, it follows the rapper spitting his verses throughout the different locations in his hometown of Toronto. It’s pretty sleek. Drake’s pals Y-Minus, Noah “40” Shebib, The Weeknd, Boi-1da and Kromatik make cameos in the video.

New from J Cole – Lost Ones

J Cole has a new song out called “Lost Ones”. The 26-year old rapper recently dropped his debut album “Cole World” and I think he is definitely one artist to keep an eye on. As for the song, it deals with some pretty serious issues as it tells the story of dealing with an unwanted pregnancy. Julie Pilat, Assistant Program Director and Music Director at KIIS said “It could be the most raw, emotional, and raw hip hop to hit the streets in a minute and is definitely a must have.” I can’t help but agree with her. What do you think?

Kelly Rowland is filming a three clip marathon

Kelly Rowland had a great week. The singer filmed last week no less than three videos: “Lay It On Me”, “Down for Whatever” and “Boo Thang”.
The filming marathon began for Kelly with the video for the song “Lay It On Me”, a special collaboration with Kanye West’s protégé, Big Sean. Shootings took place on September 7th and the video was directed by Frank Gatson and Sarah Chatfield.
The song, one with a very sexy and provocative sound received from the producers some shots at least as exciting and “naughty”. But it was no problem for Kelly and her golden bath suit, who has done great on set.
On September 8th they filmed the video for the song “Down for Whatever” extracted from the same album as “Lay It On Me”, namely “Here I Am”.
The third clip will be the one with Simmon, for the single “Boo Thang”.

Drake releases two new songs

On September 11th, Drake released on his blog two new songs: “Free Spirit” and “Club Paradise”. They will not be included on the album “Take care”.
The rapper put on his blog two free songs for his fans. “Free spirit” is a collaboration with Rick Ross and “Club Paradise” is named after a club in Toronto and produced by Noah “40″ Shebib.
“Release this song for my man Avery… it was his favorite song at the recordings,” said Drake.
“I like to be a free spirit. Some don’t like that, but that’s the way I am.” Drake said citing Princess Diana.
About the album “Take that”, Drake said: “I lean over as many points as I can when writing a song. I write a part and where many would stop, I keep going, thus seeking to make the song flow. So I like to always put myself to the test and get the best out of me.”

New Songs from Jason Derulo – Pick Up the Pieces/Breathing

Jason Derulo has under two weeks until he releases his sophomore album “Future History”, due out on September 27th, but the pop singer is continuing to offer new promo singles via iTunes to keep up the hype for his upcoming record. Jason dropped two new tracks from the album recently, “Pick Up the Pieces” and “Breathing”. The first is a nice mid tempo drums-driven tune with a catchy hook. It’s a decent album track. As for the latter, I love it! I thought it was going to be a ballad from the title but it’s actually a chill out house record. I love the lyrics, the vibe and the production. I never knew he had it in him to do that type of song. Check them out.

New from David Guetta and Jennifer Hudson – Night of Your Life

Jennifer Hudson takes a chance by stepping into the dance music realm with a new track called “Night of Your Life”, which is featured on David Guetta’s 2011 studio album “Nothing but the Beat”. This marks the R&B singer’s first attempt at a commercial and current music-style, and she delivered flawlessly. While I don’t see Jennifer recording a dance album any time soon, it’s refreshing to see her step out of her comfort zone. It’s a killer track and if I were David, I’d release this as a single. The beats are awesome and Jennifer’s vocals are fire. Some may say that it sounds like Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In the World)” but I see nothing wrong with it.

New Video from Lil Wayne – How to Love

Lil Wayne recently premiered the music video for “How to Love” exclusively via MTV Jams as “Jam of the Week”. With the song currently sitting at the #6 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100, this video premiere and the upcoming VMA performance, the rapper may be in the fight for the top spot very soon. As for the video, I did not expect it at all. It’s a strong and powerful visual that’s very touching. It’s about a woman who goes through a difficult life, from working as a stripper to prostitution to contracting HIV. It’s just awe-inspiring. I give mad props to whoever came up with the concept.

New Song from The Weeknd – The Zone

The Weeknd has a new song out called “The Zone”. The track, which features Canadian rapper/singer Drake, comes off of the R&B singer’s latest mix tape called “Thursday”. If you’re unaware, The Weeknd is the stage name of Toronto-based artist Abel Tesfaye. Drake has always been a big supporter of The Weeknd ever since hearing his music, even before coming into the scene in March 2011. It’s actually publicity created by Drake via Twitter that pushed The Weeknd’s initial popularity. As for the song, it has a chilling vibe that’s heightened more with The Weeknd’s vocals. The verse by Drake was a nice addition to the song. I like it but I understand that it may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

50 Cent and Lil Kim Perform in Australia

After 8 long years of waiting, we can now have the very first performance of 50 Cent and Lil Kim performing their 2003 hit single “Magic Stick”. The historic moment took place on Wednesday night during the WinterBeatz Festival in Perth, Australia. This reminds me of all the good memories from these two rappers. It made me think that they should consider recording another duet for either of their upcoming records. As for the live performance, I didn’t really care much about 50 but goose bumps came all over when Lil Kim took the stage. She totally killed it! Lil Kim still has it!
