Ashanti Fakes It
Feb 28, 2008 Ashanti, FUN, Music Videos, Performance, Photography, Song

Ashanti took the most beautiful mugs shot I’ve ever seen when the R&B songstress, aka Inmate #03529480 struck it nasty. But if you think that she was arrested for DUI or drug possession then you’re wrong. Unlike most celebrities today, Ashanti is only faking it. The picture is actually from the new version of her ‘The Way that I Love You’ music video which is expected to drop on Wednesday. She goes to prove us wrong and that there are still some relatively good girls in the industry. You are not going to pop this girl for anything anytime soon.
Pete’s gunning for trouble
Jan 11, 2008 Drugs, Music Artists, Pete Doherty, Photography

Loopy Pete Doherty has reportedly shelled out over £1000 on an arsenal that includes a Samurai sword and antique guns.
Don’t panic; he is not expected to be planning a hold-up. The Babyshambles singer seems to be simply indulging his passion for anything old. He will probably hang the weapons up on the wall of his Wiltshire home; next to the tasteful “art” pieces done in his own blood.
Junkie Pete has become quite a home boy of late – even stopping halfway through the creation of another one of his “art” pieces to call the local radio station and request Beatles song ‘I’ll be back’
He told the DJ, “I am trying to do some painting and that.”
Let’s hope the “and that” doesn’t involve his usual pharmacy of drugs…
Drinking problem?
Jan 5, 2008 Bjork, Photography, Rumor
Icelandic singer Bjork downs a litre of vodka straight from the bottle every Friday night. Apparently she has been enjoying the beverage once a week since she was fifteen and insists that it is tradition in her homeland.
The eccentric mother-of-two says her drinking habits were inspired by her grandparents and claims it helps her to release her inhibitions. She said: “I watched my grandparents doing that and it’s been my pattern, just like it has been my family’s release for a thousand years. Alcohol is how people in Iceland lose themselves, switch their conscience off and run riot. It’s the same for me with my music – to me it stands for freedom.”
So next time someone comments on your drinking habits, claim ‘tradition’ and you’ll be fine.
Janet Jackson’s Official Release
Dec 27, 2007 Album Release, Album Review, Hit Songs, Janet Jackson, Photography, Pop Music, Records Sale, Review, Song

If the new promo picture that came out is any indication of the vibe that Janet Jackson’s new album is going to have, then that stuff is going to be shooting through the roof! Hot! Hot! Hot!
The lead single off of the album ‘Feedback’ is already getting massive airplay which has excited even more people about Janet’s comeback. And for those wondering just when we’ll get it, her new album ‘Discipline’ now has an official release date for February 26th. I can’t wait! I really hope that she would do a tour for this one. She needs to really go out there again.
Kanye West and his Ego
Dec 26, 2007 Kanye West, Music Artists, News, Performance, Photography

We’ve already established that Kanye West has a rather large ego on him. For those of you that aren’t aware, pick up the new issue of Spin and take note of the following quote:
“I’m a pop enigma. I live and breathe every element in life. I rock a bespoke suit and I go to Harold’s for fried chicken. It’s all these things at once, because, as a tastemaker, I find the best of everything. There’s certain things that black people are the best at and certain things that white people are the best at. Whatever we as black people are the best at, I’m a go get that. Like, on Christmas I don’t want any food that tastes white. And when I go to purchase a house, I don’t want my credit to look black.”
Rihanna’s Bad look is Good
Dec 18, 2007 Fashion, Music, Music Artists, Photography, Pop Music, R&B, Rihanna, Rumor, Singers

At her sold out Wembley gig last night, Rihanna proved she can hold her own against any of the strong female legends of pop as she rocked the stage in some very hot outfits.
The performance certainly drove away any ‘teen-pop’ image she may have been carrying. With awesome stage presence, powerhouse vocals and moves that would have Beyonce shaking in her boots; the fans went nuts.
I doubt the many changes of PVC bondage outfits harmed the effect either.
Bow Wow Gets Hospitalized
Dec 11, 2007 Bow Wow, Celebrity, Chris Brown, Concert Tour, Music, Music Artists, Performance, Photography, Rap Music, Record Label, Sean Kingston, Singers, Soulja Boy

Rapper Lil Bow Wow, oh wait, I meant Bow Wow. He’s not so little anymore. Anyway, the rapper was rushed to a Cincinnati hospital on Thursday night after he came from a performance there.
His record label issued a statement saying that the 20-year old rapper is suffering from ‘stress and exhaustion’. They also said that while his tour with Chris Brown, Sean Kingston and Soulja Boy prepares to take the stage in Chicago, he won’t be able to make it. The Sony rep does say that “He loves them and will be sure to come back to Chicago soon!”
Madonna Gives Candy
Dec 10, 2007 Album, Album Release, Album Review, Kanye West, Madonna, Music, Music Artists, New Single, Photography, Pop Music, Rumor, Singers

It’s been reported that Madonna’s next studio album, her last with new material under Warner Bros., will be released in April of 2008 and will carry the title ‘Licorice’. The disc reportedly features collaboration with Kanye West and Pharell amongst others. There’s no word whether a tour will follow but it doesn’t hurt to pray for it.
However, not long after news broke out, Madonna’s publicist Liz Rosenberg has denied reports that the Queen of Pop’s new album will be called ‘Licorice’ and that it’s coming out in April. Music industry insiders are not buzzing that the disc will be called ‘Give It To Me’.
Keyshia Cole is Late for Thanksgiving
Dec 3, 2007 FUN, Keyshia Cole, Music, Music Artists, Performance, Photography, R&B, Singers

Keyshia Cole is about a week late for Thanksgiving. And I think she has the roles confused. She’s supposed to eat the turkey and not be the turkey. Who the heck told her that it was okay for her to wear what looks like feather fluff? Her stylist needs to be fired!
The R&B singer looked like the stuffed bird that got away from the Thanksgiving dinner table when she was at the taping of BET’s 106 & Park on Wednesday. It’s like a cross of Bjork’s legendary swan dress and the Olsen twins wardrobe from a couple of years ago.
Birdman Gets Caged
Dec 3, 2007 Birdman, Music, Music Artists, Photography, Prison, Rapper, Rumor, Santana, Singers

16 people were arrested in Kingsport, Tennessee earlier this week facing drug and possible gun charges. Among them was rapper Birdman whose real name is Bryan ‘Baby’ Williams, one of the founders of Cash Money Records..Birdman was in an RV that was spotted by police as it made an improper lane change. When police approached the RV, the smell of marijuana came from the inside where they found around a pound of pot as well as 2-23 carbine assault rifle, 9mm handgun and magazine for .45-cal handgun. The rapper, his wife, brother and 13 other people were charged with possession of over ½ ounce of marijuana. All 16 people arrested were said to be employed in some way with Cash Money Records.
Whitney’s Comeback
Nov 26, 2007 Concert Tour, Hit Songs, Music, Music Artists, Music Videos, Performance, Photography, Pop Music, R&B, Whitney Houston

Everyone in the music know-how is aware that Whitney Houston is planning to make a comeback. Well now, it’s official. The pop/R&B diva is set to make her official return to being a performer at the Live & Loud music festival in Malaysia on the 1st of December.
Whitney is said to be performing an hour-long set of her classic hits and people are saying that she’s very excited about all of it. She was so excited in fact, that she just had to make a video about her comeback gig which has already made its way around the internet.
Alicia Keys is 4 for 4
Nov 23, 2007 Billboard Chart, Debut, Hip Hop, Music, Music Artists, Photography, R&B, Records Sale, Review, Singers, Soul Music

Out of four albums released over the span of her career, all four have debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts. Her most recent album was released last week, entitled As I Am.
A #1 debut is not her only Thanksgiving blessing this week, though. Keys has already sold 742,400 copies and is her highest performing debut yet. Her first album Songs in a Minor (2001) sold 235,800 copies while her sophomore album The Diary of Alicia Keys sold 618,300. Unplugged (2005) sold approximately 196,000 copies. This year, her closest competition was Josh Groban’s Neel, a Christmas themed album, which hit #2 with around 223,000 copies.
This recent increase in album sales has shown us that it is indeed beginning to look at a lot like Christmas. And a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised to find a copy of the R&B songster’s latest gift in their stockings!
Ne-Yo No!
Nov 21, 2007 Concert Tour, Music, Music Artists, Ne-Yo, Performance, Photography, R&B, R. Kelly, Review, Singers

Well it seems there is a little R&B artist rivalry going on. Just one week into R Kelly’s ‘Double Up’ tour, Ne-Yo has been relieved of his duties as opening act. Now the statement from his label would not elaborate, but if you ask the artist about the reasons behind this it’s a simple case of “I’m better than he is” school boy type chant.
What he will actually tell you is the reviews came back after the first week and raved more about Ne-Yo than they did about R Kelly, creating the theory our Mr Kelly doesn’t like being upstaged so has sacked the reason…What Kelly’s spokespeople will say is that the cause was due to “contractual agreements not being met”.
Children, children can we please play nice together? What do we believe folks? After all R Kelly is said to be the nicest guy in the R&B business, but no one ever said he might be a bit petty, maybe a little jealous of the younger, more successful artists. Or maybe, like his label insists, Kelly is confident enough in himself to happily share the stage with such talented acts as Ne-Yo; and maybe the latter truly just screwed up.
Jay-Z Still Got It
Nov 20, 2007 Album, Album Review, Billboard Chart, Jay-Z, Movies Music, Music, Music Artists, News, Performance, Photography, Rap Music, Records Sale, Singers, TRL, Top Music List

It’s always annoying when a rapper says that he’s retired then comes back only to retire again and then come back again. But in Jay-Z’s case, no one should care as long as he’s number 1.
The rapper may have flashed two fingers when he passed paparazzi on his way to TRL on Monday. But as of the middle of the week, he hit number 1. As it was projected by music insiders last week, his American Gangster-inspired album took the top spot on the Billboard charts and knocked the Eagles down a notch.
Congratulations to Jay-Z. This is his 10th #1 album!

Mika Name Battle Settled
Nov 14, 2007 Mika, Music, Music Artists, News, Photography, Pop Music, Reggae

British pop star Mika has been granted permission to perform in Brussels after a woman of the same name appealed to Belgian courts to ban him from entering the country. The relatively unknown reggae singer sued the British musician – real name Mica Penniman – in a bid to stop him from further “ruining” her chance at fame. If this other lady is really that good at what she does…her work should speak for itself rather than her worrying about somebody else with the same name. People who are big enough fans know who they are listening to/going to see in concert….I doubt if people are seriously confusing the two artists! She needs to get over it! If she wants to be as famous that Mika the singer then she should try doing it the hard way, that’s working hard to earn fame and money. This guy has probably worked his ass for days and nights together not just to be stopped by some sick ass lady to use his fame.
Sean Kingston – Album Review
Nov 7, 2007 Album Review, Dance, Music, Music Artists, MySpace, New Single, Performance, Photography, Pop Music, R&B, Reggae, Sean Kingston, Singers, Song, Tracklist

The 17-year-old MC known as Sean Kingston got put on the 21st-century way–through his myspace page. On his impressive self-titled debut full-length, Kingston blends elements of contemporary R&B, dancehall reggae, and radio-friendly pop over 14 tracks, all the while flowing with hungry, upstart energy.
The stand-out track and debut single, “Beautiful Girls,” quickly became the summer jam of 2007, with its infectious beats and clever sampling of Ben E. King’s classic “Stand By Me.” The rest of the album’s thump comes courtesy of West Coast producer J.R., and with a tracklist light on guest stars (Paula DeAnda, Vybz Kartel, and Kardinal Offishal), SEAN KINGSTON heralds the coming of an assured young artist brimming with potential.
Avril Wins Some and Loses Some
Nov 5, 2007 Avril Lavigne, Famous People, MTV, Music, Music Artists, News, Performance, Photography, Rock, Singers

While Nelly Furtado won her own award and should get an award for being fabulous with her red carpet look, I can’t say the same for Avril Lavigne. Honestly, I would never say it even if she looked like Charlize Theron. She looked like a wannabe prom queen from the 80s.
The 23-year old ‘Girlfriend’ singer picked up the award for Most Addictive Track at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2007 in Munich, Germany on Thursday. Avril accepted the award and said “This is amazing. I’d like to thank the fans for voting for me.”
It’s not that they wanted to. It just so happens that the song is so annoying and was stuck in their heads during the whole voting process.
Pete Doherty defends Amy Winehouse
Nov 5, 2007 Amy Winehouse, Award, Drugs, MTV, Music, Music Artists, News, Pete Doherty, Photography, Pop Music, Rock, Singers

Amy Winehouse gave one of her usual bombed-out performances at the MTV Europe Music Awards. She was even booed off the stage when she could barely say the word “Thanks” after receiving her Artists’ Choice award. However, the new drug-free Pete Doherty says that Amy is on “the straight and narrow,” Holy crap…I was going on and on about how freaking ugly she is (all the time when I see her pics on the internet and music news sites)…then I got a look at her husbands teeth! Sweet mother of Jesus! Can you imagine kissing that thing! It looks like he’s never brushed a day in his life. Bet it smell reals nice, jack! He wouldn’t be a bad looking guy though if he wasn’t so messed up on drugs and hadn’t messed up his body. Yipes; these 2 are obviously not good for each other. I bet there’s some serious mental & emotional abuse going on, in addition to the drug abuse. Hope she gets out of that situation alive.
