Beyonce shooting with Alicia Keys

The two singers apparently took a little trip to Rio in Brazil recently in order to shoot a video for Alicia Keys’ song, “Put it in a love song” which features a duet by the two world-class acts. This is what Alicia Keys said about being in Rio: “First look on top of the mountain of brasil off to an incredible start”. It’s good she’s so optimistic… also, it’s nice to see Beyonce working with other singers now. And in such exotic places… who knows, the places themselves might inspire Beyonce to take that long awaited and greatly postponed vacation.

Keyshia Cole is Engaged

It looks like Keyshia Cole wants to keep things on the traditional side. It was reported last month that the singer is expecting a baby with boyfriend, Cleveland Cavaliers player Daniel Gibson. The baby is due in March and it seems that the couple is ready to make it official as husband and wife with a baby on the way. The basketball player decided to propose to Keyshia during New Year’s Eve with the singer’s rep saying “I can confirm she is engaged and has an incredible ring.” Her rep adds that the engagement was “an absolute surprise. When he asked her to marry him, she was flabbergasted. He presented her with the ring and her mouth dropped in amazement. It’s too beautiful for words.”

New Jay-Z Video

Check out the new music video from Jay-Z and Mr. Hudson for ‘Young Forever’. Mr. Hudson was recently asked what recording the song was like and the singer said “It was really fun to do. We did it in a couple of hours – it’s just this big beat and I’m singing, like, stupidly high. I probably couldn’t do it now with my throat as it is, it’s proper up there on the 50th floor. Kanye certainly has picked me up and said, ‘This guy deserves to be playing in arenas,’ so I thought I might as well make a sound that will belong in those spaces.”

Jay-Z Celebrates Big 4-0

Jay-Z rented a mansion in the Dominican Republic resort Casa de Campo for his Scarface-themed 40th birthday and with a star-studded guest list, I’m pretty sure that it was a party to remember. The rapper’s guests included Kanye West, Diddy, Oprah, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Lil Wayne, Ne-Yo, Kate Hudson, A-rod, and MIA. All the guests showed up courtesy of two private jets to celebrate the big day where they sipped on vintage Dom Perignon and Cristal champagne. Everyone had to leave their phones at the door to ensure that no photographs would leak as well as saying a password for admittance.

Mariah Carey Covers Paper

Mariah Carey lent her famous face to Paper Magazine for their December/January issue. The 39-year old singer talked about the media’s harsh treatment of her 2001 breakdown, dressing provocatively at an early age and her relationship with husband Nick Cannon. Mariah said “All we do is have fun together. I don’t know what his eternal age is but maybe it’s more like 16.” I guess Mariah really is a cougar. It’s a good thing that 16 isn’t Nick’s actual age or she’s going to have more trouble coming her way than just media scrutiny. But for the most part, being with Nick seems to be doing her good.

Rihanna Talks New Video

Rihanna recently filmed a new music video for her song ‘Hard’. The 21-year old singer described the video as being “couture military”. The Barbadian beauty also told MTV about the project, saying “We got tanks, we got troops, helicopters, explosions, tight gear, lots of cute outfits, lots of bullets. Crazy!” She was right about the cute outfits. There are clips of Rihanna wearing a military helmet made to look like Mickey Mouse ears! I wonder when the video will be premiering. I can’t wait to see how it comes out. She’s obviously going for something a little harsher than what we’re used to seeing from her.

The band stopped by the Yahoo studios to perform an acoustic set featuring songs off the new record Black Gives Way To Blue. The band rocked through amazing acoustic renditions of their new hit single “Check My Brain”, “Black Gives Way To Blue”, and “Your Decision”. Alicia Keys Album Pushed Back

Alicia Keys recently took to her Twitter to announce that her upcoming album ‘The Element of Freedom’ is being delayed. The singer tweeted “Luv having the freedom to create beautiful music, so I’m pushing the album back to DEC 15th. So many more amazing songs!!! Pls RT.” Who is she trying to kid? Getting an album pushed back doesn’t exactly scream good news to any music fan or artist for that matter. I guess we will get some hastily put together music two weeks later because we all know what getting pushed back really means – it’s code for your album absolutely sucks!

Lady Gaga and Beyonce Team Up

Beyonce and Lady Gaga teamed up to shoot the video for Video phone together! According to an insider who spoke to Life & Style “On Oct. 7, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé were working on the video together at a studio in NYC. Everything on the set was being kept very hush-hush, and security was extremely tight.” I wonder how this managed to stay off the radar. The insider goes on to say that the singers and fashion icons showed off their individual styles for the video, saying “Beyonce wears a feathered dress. And of course Lady Gaga wears something wild. The fashion is sick and insane.”

Michael Jackson’s Guitar Goddess Orianthi Readies Debut Album

Introducing Orianthi, the guitar phenomenon who is featured prominently in the upcoming Michael Jackson concert documentary, This Is It. Already a renowned musician, Orianthi has been playing guitar since the age of eleven and was discovered by legend Carlos Santana. After playing with artists like Carrie Underwood, ZZ Top, and Prince, she received a MySpace message from Michael Jackson’s musical director asking her to audition for his comeback tour. Following a test run with the King of Pop himself, she was selected as his lead guitarist for his O2 arena dates in London – a crowning acheivement for the 24 year old from Adelaide, Australia.

Now Orianthi is preparing to release her solo debut album, Believe, on October 27th. In addition to her talent at guitar, Orianthi has a gorgeous voice and even sang at Michael Jackson’s Staples Center memorial service. Even before starting rehearsals for his tour though, she was hard at work writing and recording the album with her band. Believe is full of anthemic rock tracks with a sound reminiscent of Paramore or Evanescence, but entirely Orianthi thanks to her signature shreds and thunderous hooks. Her first single, “According to You” is a catchy tale of an ungrateful boyfriend, featuring a killer guitar solo.

To hear the story in her own words, watch Orianthi in this segment from Australia’s Today show. Visit Orianthi.com for updates on this rising star, and be sure to check her out in This Is It out on October 28th.

Jermaine Jackson is Desperate

Jermaine Jackson is doing everything he can to bring big names to the seemingly doomed Michael Jackson tribute concert that he’s planning in Vienna, Austria later this month. The late singer’s brother doesn’t even care what they’re claim to fame is, so it shouldn’t e a surprise that he wants Chris Brown to perform at the upcoming tribute. However, as of now, Chris and Mary J. Blige have denied that they are going to be part of the show. Jermaine has also begged the likes of Akon, Stevie Wonder, R Kelly, Maroon 5 and Sister Sledge to be part of the concert for the King of Pop. Good luck with that line up.

Tickets for Michael Jackson’s memorial service snapped up by ticket touts

Tickets for Michael Jackson’s memorial service have been snapped up by ticket touts who plan to make money out of the tragic event.

Jacko passed away aged 50 in LA on June 25 after he reportedly suffered a heart attack.

The memorial is being held at the Staples Center in LA, and tickets for the event were posted online for fans but quickly sold out.

British fan Julian Nelson, 27, was unable to get one of the exclusive tickets and, talking about the touts, he said: “It’s totally out of order and against the spirit of the whole event.

He added: “I was gutted not to get a ticket.

“But it’s worse knowing others did and all they care about is making a quick buck. The touts should be ashamed.

“You just don’t get lower than tryng to make money off a person’s death.”

New Beyonce Video

Beyonce Knowles recently released another black and white music video for her song ‘Broken-Hearted Girl’. The track was originally supposed to be the sixth single from her ‘I Am… Sasha Fierce’ album but it was replaced by ‘Sweet Dreams’ instead. The video will also be released on the DVD ‘Above and Beyonce: Dance Mixes’ which dropped in stores last week and sold exclusively at Wal-Mart. I wonder why they shelved this song instead when they already have a video for it. And how many songs is she planning to release from that album? It’s getting way too old. It’s not like she’s Rihanna who we can’t get tired off.

Green Day Premieres Video for New Single “21 Guns”

Green Day has just premiered the video for their new single, “21 Guns,” exclusively on MySpace Music. The video was helmed by noted director Marc Webb, who has lensed clips for such artists as My Chemical Romance, Weezer, and All-American Rejects, and is making his feature film directorial debut in July with (500) Days of Summer.

“21 Guns” is the second single from the band’s latest album 21st Century Breakdown, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, as well as on the Rock, Active Rock, and Alternative charts, fueled by the Alternative radio No. 1 single “Know Your Enemy.” 21st Century Breakdown, which Rolling Stone has called “a rock opera in which the rock always comes first,” also topped the charts in 24 countries including the UK, Canada, and Japan.

Over the past month, Green Day has continued to work with MySpace Music for the promotion of 21st Century Breakdown. During the week of the album’s release, they played an exclusive concert in New York City which was filmed for the site’s premiere online concert program, The List. The performance can now be seen on The List’s official MySpace profile.

This year’s show will take place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 9th, and air the next day, Monday, August 10th, on FOX at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can vote for Green Day at http://www.teenchoiceawards.com/.

Green Day, which is singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool, are preparing to launch their first proper tour of the United States and Canada in more than three years. The tour runs from July 3rd through August 25th. Please visit http://www.greenday.com/ for more details.

Suge Knight Can’t Be Black Balled

If Suge Knight wants his record company to be called Blackball Records, he can name it Blackball Records. That’s if someone else doesn’t have the name already. The original owners of Black Ball Records, note the slight difference in spelling, have fired off a cease and desist letter to the music mogul, politely pointing out his copyright infringement. Black Ball claims that Suge has been using the name since 2008 and that both sides have tried to reach a settlement to no avail. Suge’s camp says they filed for copyright in 2006 but dropped it earlier this year. The original Black Ball Records people say they’ve had it since 2002.
