Nicki Minaj at the VMAs

Nicki Minaj made her first live TV performance onstage during the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards this past Sunday in Los Angeles. The 25-year old rapper performed her single ‘Your Love’ and ‘Check it Out’ with Black Eyed Peas’ front man will.i.am. During the actual awards ceremony, Nicki joined pop singer Katy Perry onstage and were referred to as “boobilicious” and “bootylicious” by host Chelsea Handler. They presented Eminem with Best Male Video for ‘Not Afraid’. The rapper wasn’t in the house though as he had to fly to New York immediately after his performance with Rihanna to perform with Jay-Z in concert.

Lady Gaga Scores Another Hit

Lady Gaga just earned herself another Top 20 song on the Billboard Hot 100 last week. The singer’s latest single ‘Paparazzi’ just jumped 26 spots to the number 18 spot and made the song her fourth US Top 20 hit. Congratulations to her! I can’t believe she’s already achieved that goal so early in her career. You can bet that she’s going to have even more up her sleeve down the road. I also bet that the sudden jump came from the mass hysteria after her 2009 MTV VMA performance. Let me be honest with you, I am still slightly disturbed by it.

Singer Janet Jackson is planning a massive tribute to her late brother Michael Jackson at the VMAs

Singer Janet Jackson is planning a massive tribute to her late brother Michael Jackson at the VMAs.

Janet is going to make a one-time tribute to the King of Pop at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 13.

Janet, 43, and around 20 back-up dancers have been constantly rehearsing to make their performance truly spectacular.

Jackson has been working with some of the world’s top choreographers, including Frank Gatson and Travis Payne to honour Michael.

One dancer told TMZ.com: “There won’t be a dry eye in the house at the end of the number.”

New Jay-Z Video

There’s a new trailer that recently came out for the video of Rihanna, Kanye West and Jay-Z’s new song ‘Run This Town’. Jay-Z said “The song is about evolution and the progress. You start out as a new artist and you make your way into the game. You climb that mountain and you get to the top and you put your flag down. This is us putting our flag down. This is Roc Nation. Pledge your allegiance. You’ve got to put your flag at the top of the mountain and say we run this town.” The trio of singers and rappers will perform the song on NBC’s The Jay Leno Show on September 14. It’s also being said that they will also perform a day before the show at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

Kanye on Lockdown

Kanye West debuted the song ‘Love Lockdown’ at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and has recently dropped the studio version of the song. The rapper is reportedly releasing another album before the end of the year. I’m not sure if the song is going to be a single or not but it’s going to be interesting to see how radio is going to respond to his song. It’s a great song but it’s an artist’s song – a prestige piece. It’s a risky move but you have to give kudos to Kanye for having balls. He has the whole world listening and this is the message he wants people to listen to.

Rihanna’s VMAs Get Disturbed

rihanna-vma.jpg

Rihanna performed ‘Disturbia’ at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards which were held at Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles last weekend. English comedian Russell Brand hosted the event with Britney Spears opening up the show. Rihanna was one of the people who stood up to give Britney a standing ovation during the opening. If you remember last year’s VMAs, Rihanna was seen laughing at the recovering starlet over her disaster of a performance. Honestly, I think Rihanna got robbed out of some of the awards that Britney got. But maybe they gave it to her for all her efforts to get better. Plus, it’s a great way of rebuilding a relationship with Britney. Rihanna didn’t seem to mind anyway.

Kanye West Closes VMAs

kanye.jpg

It’s a little bit sad and greatly hypocritical that some people just forget their words and let go of their pride. If you remember, Kanye West was rather upset and insulted at last year’s MTV VMAs because he didn’t win the number of awards he thought he deserved. He was also annoyed that his performance was limited to a small stage. He vowed to never return to another VMA after that. Apparently, his word is only as good as the money they can throw at him as Kanye was at the 25th VMAs this past Sunday. Talk about being a sellout.

50 Cent Picks Yet Another Fight

50 Cent Picks Yet Another Fight

50 Cent has picked a new feud with rap rival Lil’ Wayne – just because the Louisiana hitmaker is a terrible songwriter. The tough-talking rapper lost out to Wayne – real name Dwayne Carter – in a recent MTV poll, which credited the Shooter singer as hip-hop’s most important name. When is this guy going to learn to behave at least if not always then at least sometimes, I hope he can manage to behave that much or am I asking for too much. First he lost to Kanye West in the battle of album releases and as a consequence he did not make his tour to Europe. Kanye is not too good either after saying that he is not going to attend MTV bashes after not received any awards at the MTV VMAs. Now 50 Cent is such a waste and a person without work that he can keep finding ways to get into some lame fight so that he is written about in the blogs. Once there should be someone who tells him on his face that he is all things that he tells other are.

Kid on Pam and Tommy

blog2-kid-rock.jpg

As much as he tries to say that he’s glad he got out of the relationship, it’s still pretty obvious that Kid Rock is still bitter about her break up with Pamela Anderson. Why? No one knows.

The Detroit rapper recently went on ‘Larry King Live’ on Friday night to promote his new album but this is Larry King we’re talking about. His inquiring Jurassic mind made sure that Kid spilled the beans about all the drama.

Kid then proceeded to talk about his fight with Tommy Lee at the VMAs, why his marriage with Pam fell apart and his thoughts about Pam’s new man.
