Michael Jackson’s Movie Gets Help from the Past
Nov 20, 2009 Michael Jackson, Movies
Michael Jackson fans might be upset when they find out that the much hyped ‘This is It’ film, documenting the late singer’s final tour rehearsals, seems to have gotten a bit of help from the past. According to new reports, music experts are saying that some of the sound bytes on the movie are actually from years before. Former BBC senior studio manager Andrew Rose claims “Throughout the film sudden changes in vocal timbre suggest the dropping in of older recordings which may have required significant digital manipulation to fit the new live backing.” The shocking part in all this is that officials at Sony Pictures admit to altering the film. It’s not like it’s going to hurt them now as the film has already grossed over $200 million.

Warner Bros. has commissioned Malcolm Spellman to write a feature based on the classic TV Dance show ‘Soul Train’. The film will be set in the 1980s and Don Cornelius, the host and producer of the original show that spanned 35 years, will also serve as one of the producers of the film. Spellman said “All of the hip-hop street dances you see today were born during that time period and were first seen on that show, and I remember doing all of them when I was a kid.” He also talked about being able to work with Don, saying “Writing with Don involved is quite an experience. He’s still the godfather of cool.”

Willow Smith does a star turn – as her dad
Jul 16, 2009 Hollywood, Movies
Will Smith couldn’t have said it better himself. The Hollywood action star’s eight-year-old daughter Willow, a budding actress, has shown an early talent for mimicking her dear old dad.
She revealed the skill when talking about the advice Will gave her as she started out on her latest acting foray, a role for television.
“He’s giving me advice like ‘Willow, stay in the moment! You have this, you got it down. Just stay in the moment. OK, now go out there and kill it,’” she said in an interview, taking off her father’s voice.
Willow is set to play a younger version of True Jackson in True Jackson VP, a television story about a teen fashion entrepreneur. Keke Palmer will play the part of an older True.
“I like TV because they laugh and then I laugh and then I do it again. It’s a big happy family,” Willow said.
She also said she really wants to “do this again because it’s really, really easy to work and have fun at the same time”.
Willow appeared with child acting sensation Abigail Breslin in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl and with her father in I Am Legend.
Nickelodeon’s True Jackson VP will air on July 25.

Michelle Obama ‘more excited’ by Harry Potter film set than meeting the Queen
Jul 16, 2009 Barack Obama, Movies
Harry Potter star Emma Watson has revealed American First Lady Michelle Obama said coming to the set of the film was "more exciting" than meeting the Queen.
Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia visited the set of the final film – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which the cast are currently shooting.
Watson, 19, told BBC Radio One: "Michelle Obama came to set recently with her children, which was amazing. Harry Potter is so universally adored but the day I really realised that was when she came to set.
"She said it was more exciting than meeting the Queen, which is insane! The children were obviously big fans, they were really inquisitive and asked loads of questions."
Watson, who stars as brainy witch Hermione Granger, recently had to film a kissing scene with co-star Rupert Grint, 20, and she admitted the pair of them were nervous: "It’s awkward for both of us because we are like siblings, we’ve grown up together."

Jamie Foxx to star as Mike Tyson in biopic
Jun 15, 2009 Jamie Foxx, Mike Tyson, Movies
Jamie Foxx has confirmed he’s set to play former boxing champion Mike Tyson in a biopic.
The Ray actor told late-night talk show host Conan O’Brien that a movie about the controversial sportsman’s life is in the pipeline.
Foxx, 41, told O’Brien: “It’s absolutely true, we’re trying to work it out. We’re really looking into it. I think it will be a great story.”
The actor then launched into his famous impersonation of Tyson, which left the audience in stitches.
“I’ve known him for a while,” said Foxx, of the ex-heavyweight champion. “When I first started doing stand-up I was doing a joke about Mike Tyson in LA and he was actually in the audience. I thought ‘uh-oh’ and started getting a little gas. Afterwards we became good friends.”

Beyonce suffered through ‘bruises, blood and exhaustion’ filming new movie
Beyonce has revealed she had to laugh through the pain while filming the brutal scenes for new movie Obsessed.
The 27-year-old singer stars in the flick with Heroes star Ali Larter, and the pair are involved in a fight.
She said: “The fight was so much fun, being able to let out all my aggression. But it was difficult, very physical and draining, too. We were bruised and they did close-ups of me punching a wall and banging my head against it. We had to laugh to keep from crying, but it was worth the bruises, blood and exhaustion.”
In the film Beyonce plays a woman whose husband is stalked by a co-worker and the pair end up having a huge fight.

Eminem Does Rain Man
Mar 27, 2009 Eminem, Movies, Music Videos

It looks like Eminem is paying some homage to the film ‘Rain Man’ in his upcoming music video for his brand new single ‘We Made You’. In the Academy award winning film, Tom Cruise exploits Dustin Hoffman’s autistic genius to win big in Las Vegas. Dressed in gray suits with white ties, Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent recreate a similar-looking scene in ‘Rain Man’. The video will air on April 7th. I hope the gimmick proves to be a success for him. He needs to make up for all the time that he’s been gone. Eminem won’t get much if he delivers short.

Jennifer Hudson Cancels
Dec 17, 2008 Jennifer Hudson, Movies, Music Videos

I guess it was still too early as Jennifer Hudson has pulled out of plans to film a new music video this week. The Oscar winner, who is still grieving, is not yet ready to get back to her work routine after the tragic slaying of three of her beloved family members. A source said “The video was set up before the tragedy and she felt like she should finish what she started, but she’s realized that she’s not ready to go back to work. It’s too early.” Send some positive energy and thoughts her way and hope that it helps. If justice can be served soon, then she can fully move on.

Rihanna Makes a Storm

Rihanna is certainly known for her music abilities but is she ready to show off her acting chops? Sure, she had a cameo on the direct to DVD film ‘Bring it On 3’ but she just played herself for about 5 minutes. With ‘Gossip Girl’ creator Josh Schwartz about to create a younger version with its newest ‘X-Men’ installment, MTV believes that the 20-year old Barbadian beauty could follow in Halle Berry’s footsteps and be the next Storm. Rihanna is definitely that far off from Halle in terms of beauty and sexiness. I’ll definitely catch the movie if Rihanna plays Storm.

Rihanna and Chris at MTV Movie Awards
Jun 2, 2008 Chris Brown, MTV, Movies, Movies Music, Rihanna
While they haven’t publicly announced that they’re dating, R&B royal couple Rihanna and Chris Brown threw matching peace signs while sitting in the audience at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards which was held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California on Sunday. Were they together on a date? Through the course of the show, Rihanna was seen affectionately touching her boy toy’s head. They are so cute! They should really just admit that they’re together already. If they’re already showing so many public displays of affection, I just don’t get why they still don’t want to admit to anything.
No More Rap for Bow Wow
May 26, 2008 Bow Wow, Movies, Rapper
Another musician is hanging up his coat on music in hopes of starting a serious career in acting. According to the Hollywood Reporter, rapper Bow Wow will be joining the cast of Entourage in season 5. He says that he’s going to focus on acting full time because he wants to be like Will Smith saying “After 16 years in the music industry and six successful albums, I’ve decided to shift my energy to something else I’m passionate about, acting. I’m going to try to be the next Will Smith.” Here’s to hoping that he’s not going to emulate Will to the highest level and turn into a Scientologist too.
50 Cent Does Movies

Rapper 50 Cent is reportedly in talks to star in an upcoming indie movie called ‘Spectacular Regret’. The movie’s plot interconnects the lives of four Los Angeles natives who are struggling to overcome past events. Gee, sounds a lot like ‘Crash’ doesn’t it? Anyway, the rapper is in negotiations to play a death row inmate who becomes a media sensation while facing imminent execution. What is with all these rappers wanting to become actors? Just because a couple of them found success because they actually have talent doesn’t mean everyone should have a go at it! Stick to your day jobs!
Beyonce Obsessed

Much like Justin Timberlake, Beyonce Knowles is focusing on her movie career right now. Variety is reporting that the former Destiny’s Child member has signed up for a new movie called ‘Obsessed’. The 26-year old singer turned actress will play the knockout wife of an asset manager to be played by Idris Elba from ‘The Wire’. ‘Heroes’ hottie Ali Larter will play a temp office worker who begins stalking Elba’s character. Steve Shill will take the director’s helm for the movie. Beyonce will start production for the movie this summer. Also, she’s producing and co-starring as Etta James in Cadillac Records.
Beyonce – Irreplaceable
Nov 7, 2007 Album Review, Beyonce, Movies, Music, Music Artists, Music Videos, New Single, News, Pop Music, R&B, Singers, Song

“Deja Vu” suffered from being a bit too familiar and a frenetic accompanying video that turned off more than a few fans. “Ring the Alarm,” tricked out with sirens and a video of Beyonce conjuring memories of Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, failed to maintain attention for more than a few listens. However, “Irreplaceable” could change all that.
“Irreplaceable” was co-written by Ne-Yo and produced by StarGate, one of the most potent hitmaking teams of the year. They have collaborated on Ne-Yo’s own “So Sick” and Rihanna’s “Unfaithful,” to name just a pair of successful hits. “Irreplaceable,” with its instantly memorable melody and irresisible “to the left” hook should follow in those songs’ footsteps.
An element that makes “Irreplaceable” resonate deeper after hearing it multiple times is that the subject matter of female strength and independence is at the core of the entire B’Day enterprise. This song will remind many listeners of concepts central to Terry McMillan’s Waiting to Exhale which remains a cultural touchstone 14 years after its release. Look for “Irreplaceable” to help Beyonce regain her pop momentum just in time for her end of the year starring role in the film version of Dreamgirls.
Eve Launches Her Film Production Company

Rapper/actress Eve is launching her own film production company later this year – so she can retire from the entertainment industry financially secure Eva and Eve sounds quite similar, well that not the only thing that similar they both want to be rich and successful as quickly as possible, may over night if it could happen. But folks let me tell there’s nothing wrong if she wishes for a secure future, we all want it, a future that’s full of joys and happiness, a future were we do not have to think twice on the kind of vacation expenditure we can afford or what we like to splurge on a Rolex watch, some great golf accessories and hence forth, I am of the view that if at 28 she think a production company would give her the ammunition to forge ahead and zoom her onto a big bank balance the babes go for it, no risk no gain. If the risk pays off then you are one in a million and if not then no need to sulk, not everyone’s a genius born to become some Einstein.
Producers Want Unknown as Notorious B.I.G.
Aug 12, 2007 Famous People, Movies, Music, Music Artists, News, Rap Music

Producers putting together the biopic on late rapper Notorious B.I.G. are seeking an unknown actor to fill the role. A series of open auditions will be held in currently undisclosed locations. Filming is scheduled to begin this fall. Biggie’s mother and two managers will be selecting the right man for the part. His mother insists she will know the right actor when she sees him. Biggie who’s real name was Christopher Wallace, had been shot to death in March 1997 outside of a party in L.A. It’s always a good idea to find an unknown actor when trying to portray one who had previously been well known. To fill in the role with an actor that everyone knows will just take away from the story being told. Millions of rap fans have been waiting for this biopic and I’m sure the producers are doing all they can to make it the best possible.

Isaiah Inspires Stevie
Jul 25, 2007 Movies, Music, Music Artists, Rumor, TV Show
Inspiration and Isaiah Washington can hardly be put in the same sentence together. Unless of course Isaiah inspires you to spit in his face. But things are starting to look up for the homophobic former cast member of Grey’s Anatomy.
First, he scored himself a part on one of the hottest new shows in the Fall, ‘Bionic Woman’, a developmental deal with NBC and he’s got Stevie Wonder singing songs in his praises. Whoa! What?
Isaiah was a guest on Stevie’s radio show on KJLH in Los Angeles on Thursday when Stevie and his crew suddenly broke into a tune about Isaiah. It started of as a mere chant but then Stevie added his flare and it is on! It’s kinda hard to be mad at that.
Afroman Working on His First Film
Jul 11, 2007 Album, Famous People, Movies, Music, Song

After performing for a dozen years, Afroman got his first hit in 2001 with the marijuana anthem “Because I Got High.”
The novelty song appealed both to supporters of marijuana and those who were against its use, Afroman told The Associated Press in a recent telephone interview from his home in Hattiesburg.
“It was just a song that everybody could relate to,” he said.
The record was on a local label, getting some airplay for several years, said Sean Ross, vice president of music and programming at Edison Media Research, which surveys the radio industry. It found its way to mainstream radio after Afroman was signed to Universal Records.
“The right song finds its way and `Because I Got High’ was proof of that,” Ross said.
The song was featured in Kevin Smith’s movie “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” and on the soundtrack of “Disturbia,” starring Shia LaBeouf.
It has become a popular cell phone ring tone in recent years.
“I was just telling a story … kind of like a slap your knee around the campfire having a good time,” said Afroman, 32, whose real name is Joseph Foreman. “I was just having fun. It is a stew. It’s like a gumbo.”
Foreman said he’s working on his first film, a spoof of 1995’s “Waiting to Exhale.”
