Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon say they want to star in a comedy together.
The Precious actress and her TV presenter husband revealed they want to work together on a new film.
“That would be amazing – I think it would have to be a comedy, though,” Cannon said.
“She cracks me up – she’s the funniest person in the world. The jokes we have at home are the next level.”
Carey said her role as a downtrodden social worker in Precious has allowed her to relax about her body image.
“It freed me in a lot of ways,” Carey said.
“I’m not as uptight now.
“It was Lee Daniels’ vision to take away the whole image thing and just really do the part.
“I’m just honoured to be part of the film – I think it’s an amazing, amazing piece of work.”

Antonio ‘LA’ Reid, the CEO of Island Def Jam, recently bailed on an appearance, claiming that his son was in the hospital. However, sources are saying that the medical emergency may have been BS and that due to disappointing sales from Rihanna and Mariah Carey’s latest albums, LA is feeling the pressure and may be on his way out. A source said “There was speculation among other music executives that this was not entirely the truth. Reid didn’t want to answer questions about his future with Island Def Jam. The move left organizers panicked with no speaker with just hours to go. Vevo CEO Rio Caraeff agreed to stand in.” Is LA trying to head out after a couple of flops?

Mariah Carey Covers Paper

Mariah Carey lent her famous face to Paper Magazine for their December/January issue. The 39-year old singer talked about the media’s harsh treatment of her 2001 breakdown, dressing provocatively at an early age and her relationship with husband Nick Cannon. Mariah said “All we do is have fun together. I don’t know what his eternal age is but maybe it’s more like 16.” I guess Mariah really is a cougar. It’s a good thing that 16 isn’t Nick’s actual age or she’s going to have more trouble coming her way than just media scrutiny. But for the most part, being with Nick seems to be doing her good.

Mariah Re-Releases Album

The first time around, Mariah Carey’s new album ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ didn’t even make a ripple in the music world and ended up at only the #3 spot in sales. Let’s see if round two can give the singer different results. A re-release of the album is already in the works and will include remixes to every song on the original record. Producer Tricky Stewart says it will be easy and fun to do and that he has big plans for the singer’s cover of Foreigner. Let’s hope that helps. There’s no word on when the remix album will be released though.

Black Eyed Peas Sets Record

According to Newsweek, ‘I Gotta Feeling’ from the Black Eyed Peas’ album ‘The END’, has spent 14 weeks at number 1, trying Mariah Carey’s record for the longest running number 1 hit of the decade. Wow! For a song that I can’t that much into and I could describe as mediocre at best, especially for a band like them, that’s a pretty long time. I think it’s great for them though, so congratulations! I just wish they could bust out an even bigger hit that’s much more deserving of the spot and even be able to surpass that record. But that’s just me.

Mariah Carey’s maternal desires must be going on over drive. During a recent interview with In Touch Weekly, the singer and her hubby Nick Cannon opened up about her career, love life and her desire to be a mother. When asked if they wanted kids, Mariah said definitely and Nick added “Yes, of course. It’s at the forefront of our minds. We’re very close. But we want to enjoy our first year together. We didn’t have a stable environment. The first year we were in LA in a hotel and then we were like, ‘Let’s get a house’.” The couple can’t decide whether they’re going to raise the kids in New York or LA but they do know that they’d like to have 2 kids.

During an interview with the French radio program ‘Le 6-9’ last week, the host asked if Mariah Carey’s ‘Obsessed’ is a dig towards rapper Eminem. The singer replied with “I don’t even know who that is. I wrote the song and I’m very happy with it. And I’m happy with my new album. So I don’t know if somebody wants to write their little songs. I haven’t heard them on the radio, I don’t know what’s going on with that. They don’t seem to play them here in America. I’m not sure so I don’t know.” Wow. I think that’s pretty much a sign that this feud of theirs will never die.

Mariah Carey Postponed Again

It was recently reported that Mariah Carey has cancelled on a number of events and scheduled appearances. It turns out that the cancellations were due to her new music album ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ getting pushed back again. The singer’s camp recently confirmed the delay on her website in a statement saying “Mariah is putting the finishing touches on her newest album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, and we have shifted all of our TV and promo appearances to coincide with the new release date of September 29th. We can’t wait for the fans to hear the new album!!” I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets postponed again.

Mariah Carey was noticeably choked up when she performed the Jackson 5 hit ‘I’ll Be There’ at the Michael Jackson public memorial service which was held at the Staples Center in LA this past Tuesday. She posted an explanation on her Twitter about her performance saying “Just recovering from the day. Still filled w/sadness as we listen to KJLH in LA (Stevie Wonder’s radio station) paying tribute to MJ. Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me. I could barely keep myself from crying. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me. One thing I know is, we will never really have to say goodbye to MJ. His legacy lives on through his music and the millions of people. He inspired with his timeless music. He will be forever in our hearts.”

Sean Diddy Combs among stars posting on Twitter about Jackos memorial

Celebrities took to Twitter to relive their experiences of Michael Jackson’s memorial – with some stars even tweeting from inside the event, which was held at the Staples Centre venue in LA.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs tweeted from inside the ceremony: “I’m at the memorial. RIP Michael Jackson.”
He later added: “Just left funeral. Very sad! RIP MJ!”
Mariah Carey’s husband, Nick Cannon, also wrote his tweet from inside, saying: “A day of mourning. Here in the Staples Centre, God is absolutely present.”
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian wrote: “Kourtney, Khloe, my mum and I just left the memorial. Everyone had such amazing memories of MJ. We all cried and laughed and remembered!
“Michael’s children were so brave to stand there on stage and speak to the world about their father.”
Other celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Kevin Jonas, and Kelly Osbourne wrote about being moved by the memorial as they watched it on TV. Pamela Anderson said: “I’m starting with the woman in the mirror. Bless you Michael. You made the world a better place. Rest in Peace. P x.”

In a recent interview, Eminem surprised everyone by showing that he actually has a conscience, saying that he actually feels bad about the situation with Nick Cannon. The rapper explains that only after he heard the song he wrote about Mariah Carey did he realized that the lyrics were harsh. Eminem said that he did not expect the reaction from Nick saying “I had no idea Nick Cannon was going to start wildin’ out on me.” Eminem adds that he respects Nick for coming to the defense of his wife and wished them both the best. Who knew that the rapper had a soul?

The singer will be attending the famous film festival where her new movie, “Precious”, will be shown and she desperately wants her staff to be part of it. So desperately in fact, that she has paid for the extra tickets out of her own pocket. A source said the following about Mariah Carey’s benevolent act: “Mariah’s really close with her team and couldn’t bear the thought of a couple of people not being able to come, so she paid for it out of her pocket. That’s virtually unheard of in the celebrity world.” Well, we get to hear of it now. Still, it is times like this when it probably pays off to be on Mariah Carey’s staff… after all, it’s the least they can get for putting up with her all of the time.

Nick Cannon got hold of Eminem’s leaked new album and he offered a scattered review of the tracks on his blog. Everything was going nice and mediocre until Eminem took a dig at Nick’s wife Mariah Carey. Nick debated with himself if he should challenge Eminem to a rap off but decides against it. He then arrives at the conclusion that Eminem insulted a black woman saying “this so-called man has just disrespected and slanderized one of the world’s most significantly influential artists, one of the most notable BLACK females of our time, the incredibly cherished, globally loved and world-embraced woman of color, Mariah Carey!” I doubt Nick even knew what he was talking about at the end of that blog.

Barack Obama’s Inaugural Ball will have Mariah Carey singing

Beside singer Beyonce Mariah Carey too will be there for the Inaugural Ball of the new US President Barack Obama and the hitmaker singer will sing Hero when the President-elect is sworn in as America’s 44th leader on Tuesday.
She says, “It’s fitting for him. It’s appropriate.” I think this is a big honor anyone and to be able to sing a song right in front of the President of the United States of American is one thing you will never forget for your entire life time.
I am sure Mariah too knows how big a day this is in her life and she would be contacting people involved in the recording of this Inaugural Ball and telling them hey make sure you have an extra copy of event where I come in and sing.
And may be if the chap delivers her the copy at her home she would have a nice present for him back stage during one of her concerts allowing him a sneak peak.

No Pregnancy for Mariah Carey

There’s been lots of talk about Mariah Carey being pregnant. It all stemmed from seeing her covering up her tummy several times in public and her appearance on Ellen when she not so subtley only pretended to drink champagne. However, all the rumors have been unconfirmed and denied by the actions of the diva herself while on holiday. Mariah wasspotted at Nikki Beach in St. Barth last week drinking red wine and eating raw oysters, which are both not good for pregnant women. If she is pregnant, we can only pray now that the kid will be ok. But I doubt that Mariah or Nick Cannon is that stupid to do anything that could harm a baby.

Some people are saying that both divas will get beat for biggest sales of the year by rapper Lil Wayne. It turns out that his album was helped out by all the internet leaks of his songs. Industry experts are saying that it’s the most effective free publicity. Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter III’ came out on Tuesday so exact numbers are yet to come in but his label estimates that the album will sell around 850,000 to 950,000 on its first week. If that is the case, he’s a shoe-in.
Madonna Gets Knocked Off

Madonna was on top of the charts last week but this week, Mariah Carey has knocked her back down. The numbers are in and the Queen of Pop’s ‘Hard Candy’ has dropped from the top spot debut to #5 in the US album charts in a mere week whereas Mariah’s ‘E=MC2’, in its 4th week of release, is I #4 this week. Madonna’s first week sales were at 280,000 and week 2 brought in 81,000 units. Mariah’s sales for week 1 alone was at 463,000. Mariah is on her second single already though so Madonna better be coming out with hers very soon if she wants to win this diva battle.
Mariah Carey pulls Dubai concert

Mariah Carey has cancelled a concert in Dubai.
The newlywed singer was due to perform in Dubai Festival City resort next Thursday (15.05.08) but has now pulled out of the show. She last performed in the Middle East country in 2004, after a rumoured concert in 2003 failed to take place.
‘Glamorous’ singer Fergie was due to perform in the resort the following day (16.05.08) as part of the ‘Divas in Dubai’ event, but her concert has also been postponed.
A spokesperson for the event said: “Mariah and Fergie are disappointed that they won’t be able to perform. They had scheduled this one special event in their calendars and were looking forward to performing for the Dubai fans.”
A statement issued by promoters said the event was cancelled due to “the extremely compressed time frame along with unforeseen logistical complications.”
Mariah has recently returned from honeymoon in Barbados with new husband Nick Cannon. The concert was scheduled to be her first performance since getting married last week.

Mariah Carey’s new single off of her new album dropped on Tuesday and I am sad to say that it was very disappointing. A lot of people were really looking forward to it but it just didn’t live up to expectations. The song isn’t really bad. It’s actually worse. It’s just average. And we all know that mediocrity kills in the music industry. ‘Touch My Body’ is a very generic mid-tempo song. There was just nothing special about it. Better luck next time Mariah. You’re not going to get the same success for this album like what you got from ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’.
