Soulja Boy Gets an Ego
Mar 5, 2010 Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Rapper, Soulja Boy
I think Soulja Boy is starting to get full of himself. The rapper is in the middle of putting some tracks together for his next album called ‘The DeAndre Way’. He has been fortunate enough to be able to get the help of some big name artists like Jay-Z, Eminem and Kanye West. According to Soulja Boy, Kanye gave him some pretty big compliments, saying “When I was in the studio, I played him a couple of joints, and then he just said, ‘Damn, he’s really starting to go hard.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, you feel me?’ … Out of all the artists to get the go-ahead or the co-sign from, it was Kanye.” I don’t buy it.

Beyonce can be a part-time babysitter
Mar 3, 2010 Beyonce, Beyonce Knowles, Jay-Z
Or child spoiler… depending on how you look at it. It seems that Beyonce really loves to look after her nephew, Daniel, the son of her sister Solange. Apparently both Beyonce and Jay-Z enjoy the company of the five year-old, as Solange relates: “Beyonce’s very hands-on. I’ve had two weekends where I’ve been able to hand him over, and it’s been very nerve-racking for me, but she does a great job. They actually request him more than I’m willing to give him. But the bedtimes we got to work on. Sometimes I’ll call expecting him to be asleep, but he’s still up!” Well the child has so many wonderful stories to hear from uncle Jay-Z, now doesn’t he? How could his mom expect him to go to sleep early when there is so much to be learned?
50 Cent Challenges Jay-Z
I wonder if 50 Cent is sad because nobody cares what he’s up to and he wants attention. He already complained about how Chace Crawford was prettier than him last week and now the rapper is bashing Jay-Z. 50 said “Jay-Z’s not smart enough to be afraid of me. We’re big rivals. If it ever came to an actual altercation he’d know what it’s like to be afraid.” I guess he didn’t realize just how stupid he sounded when he said that. As if Jay-Z would back off from that challenge. Maybe 50 is jealous. That’s the only explanation that can be given.

Usher is Next Michael Jackson
Feb 5, 2010 Jay-Z, Michael Jackson, Usher
No one could ever fill the shoes of Michael Jackson as the King of Pop in my eyes but Jay-Z seems to think differently. The rapper has already made his nomination for the late singer’s successor – Usher. Jay-Z claims that the R&B crooner has the potential to be the next global superstar, based off the tribute that he did to Michael during the Grammys. The rapper said “I thought the Michael Jackson tribute was fantastic and I thought Usher was doing a magnificent job. I think he’s one of the guys that’s in line to, you know, fill those huge shoes. I don’t wanna put that pressure on him, but I think he’s one of the guys that’s in line to do that.” I couldn’t agree less!

Beyonce Talks Family
Beyonce is featured on the February 2010 cover of Allure magazine which hits stands on January 26. The 28-year old singer shared her plans on starting a family with her rapper hubby Jay-Z. Beyonce said “I definitely want to have a child, but I know from my nephew [Juelz] it’s a lot. I hope that those things will just happen naturally. I still haven’t had time to relax.” That’s right! She first needs to find the time to actually settle down in one place without working to even try to start a family of her own. I bet she and Jay-Z will have some cute kids though.

Jay-Z and U2 working together
The two musical giants seem to have combined their forces in order to do a charity event to raise money for Haiti. The Edge from U2 revealed the following about this new master plan to help the victims of the terrible disaster that befell Haiti: “Bono got a call from a producer, Swizz. He and Jay-Z wanted to do something for Haiti. So Bono came up with a phrase on the phone and last night we were here, we wrote a song, finished, recorded, and sent it back to them. So, that might be the next thing you hear from us.” How come Jay-Z and Bono don’t just take the production money and go hand in hand to Haiti, donate it for whatever it is needed and start helping out? No, they have to put on a show… after all, this Swizz fellow has to make a living too somehow, doesn’t he?
Jay-Z will be performing at the BRITs
Jan 19, 2010 BRIT, Brit Awards, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga
Never a dull day in paradise, it seems. No matter how successful his career, Jay-Z seems to always be able to get an extra gig in there somewhere. Next up: the BRIT awards where Jay-Z will also be performing alongside Lady GaGa and many others. Of course the rapper isn’t just going there to sing simply because he likes to boggie… no, Jay-Z is going to the BRITs because he too is nominated for two awards. How come he doesn’t leave some for the little guys, too? What rapper can make a decent career for himself anymore if Jay-Z is over there hogging all of the glory?

Beyonce and Jay-Z are in the big bucks
It comes as no real surprise that Forbes’ top earning Hollywood couples gave the first place to Beyonce and Jay-Z who apparently had combined earnings of 122 million dollars between June 2008 and June 2009. They were far ahead of the second place couple Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart who had a combined about of only 69 million. At least we all know where Beyonce gets her interestingly high sums. It also shows why she probably has such high rates when performing… especially at private parties. After all, customers do like to retain their anonymity when employing a two million-dollar a night star like Beyonce.

Jay-Z is going to help Cheryl Cole
Jan 8, 2010 Jay-Z
Jay-Z is bored… he is definitely bored. But, being the successful businessman that he is, he never lets go of an opportunity to turn boredom into something productive. So Jay-Z has decided to help Cheryl Cole out with her career in the US. This is what he said on the matter: “I keep a close eye on the music industry throughout the world and I know how hot Cheryl is in the UK. The US market is the toughest one to break into, but once you do it is by far the most lucrative. I think Cheryl has that talent to do it. There is nobody in the US like her right now and I would be very interested in helping her break the US market this year.” Really, it takes talent to break into the US market? And here I was under the impression it took the right connections and a bit of manual labor… how wrong to think so!

New Jay-Z Video
Dec 25, 2009 Jay-Z, Kanye West, Music, Music Artists, Music Videos
Check out the new music video from Jay-Z and Mr. Hudson for ‘Young Forever’. Mr. Hudson was recently asked what recording the song was like and the singer said “It was really fun to do. We did it in a couple of hours – it’s just this big beat and I’m singing, like, stupidly high. I probably couldn’t do it now with my throat as it is, it’s proper up there on the 50th floor. Kanye certainly has picked me up and said, ‘This guy deserves to be playing in arenas,’ so I thought I might as well make a sound that will belong in those spaces.”

Jay-Z Celebrates Big 4-0
Dec 14, 2009 Alicia Keys, Diddy, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Music
Jay-Z rented a mansion in the Dominican Republic resort Casa de Campo for his Scarface-themed 40th birthday and with a star-studded guest list, I’m pretty sure that it was a party to remember. The rapper’s guests included Kanye West, Diddy, Oprah, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Lil Wayne, Ne-Yo, Kate Hudson, A-rod, and MIA. All the guests showed up courtesy of two private jets to celebrate the big day where they sipped on vintage Dom Perignon and Cristal champagne. Everyone had to leave their phones at the door to ensure that no photographs would leak as well as saying a password for admittance.

50 Cent is not impressed with Jay-Z
It seems that after a failed collaboration attempt, 50 Cent felt the need to blow off a bit of steam and decided to share the fact that he doesn’t really care that much for Jay-Z. This is what 50 Cent said about his fellow rapper: “What I did was Freeway went out and found his publishing deal, and we started the album, and Jay did ‘Big Spender’ and I did ‘Take You to the Top’, and when it came time to put the record out, he didn’t want to shoot his video, so I’m like, ‘Why am I going to shoot mine? I’m not shooting it. It’s on your label. He has a king complex, he thinks he’s fucking Jesus, you know what I mean? This J-Hova shit.” Aw, isn’t that cute? Jay-Z didn’t think 50 Cent’s diamonds were shiny enough and now 50 Cent is all upset about it.

Fight at Jay-Z’s Club
Dec 3, 2009 Jay-Z, Rapper, Video
Jay-Z is one of the owners of the 40/40 Club in Atlantic City and some serious craziness went down outside the club recently. A vicious fight broke out between the security team and two men at the club and it was all caught on tape! Tyrell Durant and Leonard Clark, the patrons involved in the fight, say that they were sprayed with a fire extinguisher in addition to being assaulted. Durant also claims that the security guards took his watch and money. The incident is still being investigated but with the video showing exactly what happened, there’s really not much else to investigate. I wonder what the rapper has to say about this one.

Rihanna Celebrates Album Release
Dec 1, 2009 Diddy, Fabolous, Jay-Z, Rihanna
Rihanna released her latest album ‘Rated R’ last week and the celebration for it was definitely a night packed with stars as celebrities attended a party to celebrate with the Barbadian babe. Guests included the likes of Jay-Z, Diddy, Fabolous and many others. But all eyes were definitely on the singer as she was looking gorgeous! As for her album, Rihanna said “This album is an expression of all those feelings that I went through in the last eight months, just different emotions. All of it isn’t angry, all of it isn’t dark and sad, ’cause I didn’t go through that the whole time. That was part of it. It was really a roller-coaster, and you get that when you’re listening to the album.”

Jay-Z Refuses Pictures with Models
Beyonce seems to have her hubby Jay-Z wrapped around her little finger. While attending the Victoria’s Secret after party at M2 last week, the rapper refused to walk the red carpet and take any photos with all the hot models out of respect for his singer wife. According to a source, Victoria’s Secret practically begged Jay-Z to take pictures with the lingerie models but the rapper would not budge. Beyonce must crack that whip hard. I’m pretty sure Jay-Z has become a laughing stock. If people weren’t scared of what he’s capable of doing to them, I’m certain they would have laughed in his face.

Jay-Z gets the charts
Nov 20, 2009 Beyonce, Billboard Chart, Jay-Z
The rapper has finally did it! For the first time in his career, Jay-Z got a number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with his song “Empire State of Mind”. Congratulations are in order, especially considering this is a man who spends his time occupied with his various businesses and helping other artists launch their careers. Jay-Z proved that all you need is a heap load of money and influence and you can turn the musical sphere all the way around… you couldn’t do that with talent. Jay-Z is probably in for one hell of a party and Beyonce must be so happy for him… even though she herself might have been vying for the achievement.

Rihanna Performs Live
Nov 13, 2009 Concert, Jay-Z, Rihanna
Rihanna’s comeback seems to be in full swing as the singer made a surprise appearance at Jay-Z’s concert at UCLA last Sunday. The performance marks the first time in a very long time that the Barbadian singer sang live. And mind you, she sounded absolutely amazing. Rihanna took the stage just in time for her collaboration with the rapper on ‘Run This Town’. Rihanna also had a solo performance of her new song ‘Hard’. That should get her comeback going. I just think that she still needs to up the ante regarding her new music because her singles are mediocre at best.

New Jay-Z and Alicia Keys Video
Nov 5, 2009 Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Music Videos, Video
The music video for Jay-Z’s ‘Empire State of Mind’ featuring Alicia Keys recently premiered. The video was shot in New York City’s Harlem, Times Square and around Ground Zero on October 1. The song, which is an ode to the rapper’s and singer’s native New York City, features a sampling of ‘Love on a Two-Way Street’ by The Moments. The video was directed by Hype Williams. Just the names of the two entertainers and the directors are enough proof to say that the video is hot but watching the video itself is an even greater experience. I absolutely love it!
