Black Eyed Peas front man will.i.am will be heading to China later this year to perform in a special benefit concert in Beijing. According to the State Department, the event will benefit cultural and educational ties between the US and China, and hopefully open doors for more American students to study in China and vice versa. The rapper opened up about the opportunities he hopes the event affords for the younger generation, saying “In order to become responsible global citizens, young people need to experience the world around them. Kids from underserved communities rarely have the opportunity to study and travel abroad, and we want to change that. We must make sure that American students have the cultural awareness and skills necessary to succeed in a global economy.” I wish him a lot of success with this.

There have been some rumors going around that there’s some drama between Kanye West and Jay-Z and the tour in support of their collaborative album “Watch the Throne”. At first, word on the street was that the two rappers were fighting over creative differences on the tour’s design. Then, Jay-Z did an impromptu interview to deny the extent of the story. But now, the tour is being rescheduled. Instead of the September 22 kick off, the curtain will rise on October 29, citing high demand. I say these guys are masters of milking publicity. What do you think is the real deal?

Pitbull, Ne-Yo and Nayer delivered what I think is the best performance so far of their smash hit “Give Me Everything” at the 2011 Premios Juventud last week. The awards show recognizes Spanish-speaking personalities in music, acting, sports and other fields on entertainment. This year’s show took place at the Bank United Center in Miami. Their performance was just fire! I don’t know if it was the crowd or Miami’s energy or the Latino environment but the rapper and the two R&B singers gave it their all and put on an amazing show. The Afrojack-produced song is currently at #2 on Billboard’s Hot 100, only behind LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem”.

It would appear that the Black Eyed Peas front man doesn’t have as much of a way with words as his songwriter stance might have some believe. During a recent concert in France while performing with Stromae, will.i.am apparently had a little trouble remembering the lyrics to his own song “Don’t Stop the Party”. So he did what any decent singer would do and pulled out his iPhone in order to not disappoint his fans… any more than they might have already been, at least. The song may be relatively new, but still… doesn’t will.i.am engage in the practice of practicing? Or maybe he just meant to give a whole new dimension to the verse “kill you with my lyricals”.

Well, it wasn’t their entire fault, but they might have tried to step up a bit and get a solution going. It seems that a recent concert that the Black Eyed Peas had in Central Park was cancelled due to lightning after thousands of fans waited for hours on end through extreme heat and rain to see the band perform. The organization in charge of the even released the following statement: “The heat wasn’t going to stop them, the rain wasn’t going to stop them, but the lightning-it stopped them. It came down to safety for everyone.” Apparently the police got involved too so the Black Eyed Peas probably couldn’t have done too much about it. But still, they might have at least tried to offer some compensation… an autograph or a tap-dance or something.

Jennifer Hudson has been keeping busy these days. In fact, the singer/actress is so busy that she’s rescheduling her summer tour. Jennifer made the official announcement regarding her tour, saying “Hey guys! I just want to apologize to all who were looking forward to seeing me on tour this summer. Due to my upcoming projects, the tour has to be rescheduled. I would never cancel a chance to meet my fans! I love all of u n cant wait to see u! Jhud” Fortunately, Ticketmaster is contacting fans who already purchased tickets so I’d assume that everyone will get the refunds that they’re entitled.

This is probably going to make him drop his recent acting ambitions for a spell. It seems that Diddy’s high after-party rates and high-end conditions have been matched. Of course, Diddy’s after-party isn’t going to be taking place in New York, but in New Jersey and the rapper is going to make an impressive $75, 000 out of this party alone. It’s good to see that somebody finally managed to step up and give Diddy what he wanted. This means that the Diddy-Dirty Money will go on without any hindrance and Diddy is probably going to be a lot happier about it too.

The troubled singer is set to perform a show in Perth, Australia in a reasonably large venue. However, the tickets to Chris Brown’s show aren’t really selling as well as the concert’s producers had hoped which has apparently lead them to actually offer three for one deals to get things moving along a little faster. However, they are refusing to move Chris Brown’s show to a smaller venue. Apparently the organizer is counting on the fact that ticket sales have tripled after Chris Brown’s little “Good Morning America” incident. Apparently the singer’s promoters on pretty much counting on him to cause a little more scandal… what will Chris Brown do in this case? Will he sell-out or disappoint his promoters?
