Beyonce serenaded an Australian girl with leukaemia on stage in Sydney.
The bejewelled singer knelt to sing a lush version of Halo for the girl, Chelsea, before embracing her. Chelsea wiped tears from her eyes.
She appeared on morning television after the Acer Arena concert with her mother and broke out a few bars on request. The fair child has been partly balded by her treatment. But her eyes were made up with eyeliner to show a striking freckled face framed by wisps of hair.
A video of the heartfelt tribute that included the chorus “I Pray You Won’t Fade Away” surfaced on YouTube.
Chelsea’s age was not given but she appeared to be about nine. The performance left many in the audience in tears.
Rapper Jay-Z is set to play a one off gig at the Roundhouse London.
The hip-hop star is going to perform the eagerly anticipated solo concert at London’s famous Roundhouse venue in Camden.
The 39-year-old will play on September 17 for a small crowd of 3,500.
The singer will perform some of his new tracks from his new album The Blueprint 3 at the gig.
A spokesperson from the promoters of the gig, Live Nation, said: “It will be an intimate show and there may well be some special guests.”
Jay-Z, who is married to singer Beyonce, will also play a charity concert in New York’s Madison Square Gardens on September 11 in remembrance of all the victims of 9/11.
The spokesman added: “The London show is just a few days after the 9/11 anniversary and the special concert he is holding at Madison Square Gardens. The anniversary is obviously something that is very close to his heart as a New Yorker.”
Congratulations are in order for rapper Pitbull as the Miami native was recently honored with a key to the city. The Cuban-American, whose real name is Armando Perez, is truly honored, saying “I can’t help but keep staring at it, because it’s something I’ve worked so hard for. I’m very passionate about Miami.” Miami Commissioner Thomas Regalado, who presented the key to the rapper, says “Pitbull not only lives in Miami, but he’s been traveling the country and the world sharing a positive message of Miami. So, we should honor not only the dignitaries that visit, but those individuals who make a positive impact on the city.” I never knew that drunk driving allegations and punching someone in the face during a concert were such images of positivity.
50 Cent and his reps have pissed off a German promotional company. And now, they are all facing a lawsuit. The German company, Major Movez, claims that the William Morris Endeavor agency charged them $125,000 to negotiate a concert as a good faith gesture. If the concert were not to happen, the money would be returned to them, with no deductions. However, the concert did not take place and the money wasn’t returned. Now, the option that’s left is to go to court and have all the issues aired out. I wonder if this will turn out into an all out war like the rapper’s recent court battle with his ex-girlfriend.
The rapper who will be participating at the famous Glastonbury festival this year was recently asked about his concert essentials. To this question, Dizzee Rascal replied with the following: “First aid kit. Condoms – stay safe man. And a bucket – leave them toilets alone.” Very practical of him… well, sort of. The question is, what happens with the contents of the bucket once it is full? Does it go in those nasty toilets in order to add to the pool of excrement there? Or does Dizzee Rascal maybe use it as fertilizer on nearby fields in order to alleviate the food shortage that seems to be plaguing humanity since… well, forever.
The rapper was released from the hospital last Friday following a collapse he had during an outdoor concert in Florida. It seems that Tone Loc collapsed due to overheating, but flight delays were also invoked as being one of the reasons of his collapse by his manager. Right, Tone Loc is probably going to sue some airline company for that one… and maybe even do a little skit on global warming for the sake of the world’s impending doom… and a little more publicity. But still, you have to notice how this global warming thing is starting to become a sort of filtering system for all of the creatures under the sky. I wonder how heat-resistant most rappers generally are?
We all know that KanyeWest is a cocky and self-centered bastard but he really does care about giving back. Especially if it means that he can give back in memory of his mother, the late Dr. Donda West. The Kanye West Foundation, which was founded back in 2007 by his mom, will now host its 2nd ‘Stay in School’ Benefit Concert next month in Chicago. The intention is to help bring awareness and prevent kids from dropping out from school. Kanye will lend his support by performing at the event which will take place on June 11th at the historic Chicago Theatre.
The famous pop star’s tour seems to again be under the question mark since new info has recently surfaced that may prevent Michael Jackson from performing his long awaited tour. It seems that his manager has signed a contract that prevents Michael Jackson from performing for eighteen months. This contract was signed with AllGood Entertainment whose CEO had this to say: “We have a non-compete clause. Prior to our show, Michael cannot perform anywhere in the world.” Well now… this is indeed a predicament. Of course, an obvious solution would be for Michael Jackson to hold his show on the Moon… after all, there has been all talk and no action about colonizing outer space. It’s time to get serious about it!
The Associated Students of the University of Arizona shelled out a whopping $1.4 million to put on a concert at the Arizona stadium recently featuring Jay-Z and Kelly Clarkson, thinking that they would get their money back and lots of profits. They were wrong! The ‘Last Smash Platinum Bash’ only earned $503,502, putting the ASUA in almost $1 million of debt. The organization, which paid Jay-Z a cool $750,000 to perform, were forced to empty their savings as well as accepting the aid of the Arizona University bookstore to help them eliminate their debt sooner. ASUA president Tommy Bruce chalked it up to the poor economy and the failure in advertising.
Rihanna hit the recording studio last week to lay down some track for her upcoming album. On Saturday night, the Barbadian babe made a surprise appearance at NERD’s concert in Kansas City. She was seen getting into the groove and even dancing on stage. It actually makes me think that she might be working with the group for her upcoming album. That would definitely be hot. It looks like she has really moved on from the darker days of her life. The only thing that can only make that thought better is if Chris Brown gets sent to jail for a long time.
Last Friday rapper Soulja Boy was book by the entertainment department of Minnesota University to perform at their collage for the student but when he arrived there he was shocked and stunned to see peace protesters who did not allow him to perform citing that an artist who raps ‘degrading’ lyrics should not be at their campus.
Soulja Boy has reportedly paid a sum of $25,000 to perform a sellout show at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) but student Arielle Schnur organized a peaceful demonstration which made Soulja Boy leave the venue.
Soulja Boy wrote on his Twitter.com blog, “WTF I’m in Minnesota (sic) its a group of maf–kaz prtoesting (sic) my show. This s–t on all the news.” While Arielle Schnur made her thoughts clear by saying, “This isn’t OK for this to happen. To bring in an artist that degrades half the student body as sex objects and the other half as sexual assault perpetrators; that form of degradation is not acceptable.”
Wow-wo man like this girl is different and I’d really like to appreciate that she has done, we all kind off say that such things must stop but she actually did it. He is a disgusting & an example of a true Rapper!
T-Pain has allegedly canceled a concert in Guyana due to “credible death and kidnapping threats” toward the rapper. That’s so scary! Authorities are currently looking into the threats and trying to confirm the identity of the person behind them. Who would want to kidnap T-Pain? And for what reason? Does he have a lot of enemies from the country? Did he violate some sort of law or something? It just doesn’t make sense to me. And boo for whoever is making those threats. He just denied some fans of seeing the rapper in action. I bet it would have been a good show too.
T.I. showed some skin and stripped to his briefs during a gig at Jet Nightclub in Las Vegas this past Monday. This was the rapper’s last west coast performance before he has to head to prison next month as part of a plea deal for felony weapons charges. He was looking mighty fine! But honey, you need to bulk up a bit if you’re going to be heading to jail soon. Otherwise, you might get your butt kicked really badly while there – or not if you manage to get yourself the star treatment. Either way, I think he needs to head to the gym ASAP.
Despite strong resentment from the opposition parties in Malaysia the central government has gone ahead and given a concert to be staged by singer Rihanna the go ahead. The concert slated to be held on February 13th shall happen as per schedule.
This was confirmed by the Malaysian minister for art, culture and heritage Mr. Datuk Seri Mohd. that the concert will be held at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
That really some news for the singer cos’ if I am correct then this show was supposed to be held late last year when she was on a world tour and she had successful shows in Australia and other south east Asian countries too were very receptive to her music but Malaysia opposed her holding a concert.
That because she refused to wear traditional clothes and the government thought it would be a bad influence on the young generation. And now in a few months her dresses would suddenly not be a bad influence. Completely double standards for the connivance of the government and event organizers.
They say that third time’s the charm but such is not the case for Lil Wayne fans in upstate New York. For the third time, the rapper has cancelled his Rochester, New York show. He was supposed to take the stage on Wednesday. Back in October of last year, he said he didn’t want to do the gig at Rochester’s Blue Cross arena because of a so-called inferior sound system. Then he just didn’t show up for the re-scheduled show in December. Lil Wayne did not release a statement as to explain why he didn’t show up for the most recent re-scheduled show. I’m pretty sure he’s never going to get another gig offer in Rochester after this.
Five people were injured recently in an early morning shootout after a Denver rap concert. Like that hasn’t happened before. The incident took place just outside the Vinyl nightclub in downtown Denver, after rapper E-40 finished his performance. According to the Denver Post, there is one person in critical condition with the other four got treated and released from the scene. It seems that the venue is a magnet for trouble. Two years ago, Denver Bronces cornerback Darrent Williams was killed in a drive-by shooting across the street from Vinyl. So I guess, there’s really no connection to E-40. He should hope the same.
Jay-Z and Coldplay are coming together to bring us a concert. However, if you want to see that pairing, you’re going to have to wait until the fall of 2009. According to new reports, Jay-Z will be rocking out with Coldplay as their special guest on three new UK stadium shows. The shows will take place some time in September. Ticket prices are said to start at 40 pounds or $60. If you remember, Jay-Z has been having trouble with getting gigs in the UK because of his asking price. I guess this collaboration can be treated as a two for one deal.
It looks like Janet Jackson is about to try her luck in Japan. Miss Nasty’s mystery illness has forced her to scrap 7 US Tour dates which supposedly count not be rescheduled due to conflicts. A new report has emerged though saying that she’s taking her show on the road to Japan. Janet is apparently set to do her first tour of Japan in 7 years in February 2009. She’ll do four dates in the country between February 14th and 22nd. Janet was having lots of difficulty selling tickets and filling arenas in America. Maybe she’s hoping to have better luck in Japan.
Alicia Keys wore high-waist jeans with suspenders for her performance yesterday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. For the sake of being recognized as being fashionable and looking different these guys wearing anything and for me she is looking absurd.
A pair of jeans is always the coolest thing that one can use to dress up and low waist jeans is something that everyone used to showoff one’s waist line below the naval. Highwaisted jeans are for old ladies.
Never was a fan of high-waist jeans – no matter how attractive you are. And I’m sure there are hundreds if not thousands who think that she looks sloppy and really like grandma. Who ever is her stylist and especially the person who takes care of her wardrobe must immediately get himself/herself updated on the current fashion scenario.
Maybe Alicia needs to send that person to New York, Paris, London and Milan so that he can get acquainted with things like fashion sensibilities.
Extremists always ruin things for everyone else. Rihanna ended up canceling a concert in Jakarta, Indonesia last Friday over security concerns. The Barbadian babe heard a travel advisory warning people that there may be violence in the country after the recent executions of three Islamic militants convicted in the 2002 Bali bombings and decided not to move forwarded with the tour stop. The executed men had called on followers to carry out revenge attacks if their deaths went ahead. Indonesian show organizers said that they hoped that Rihanna would consider coming back to Jakarta in January. If the violence stops, maybe she can consider that.
