Common Talks Cousin’s Death
Common has broken his silence about his cousin’s tragic death last week and took the time to thank everyone for their support during the tough time. The rapper posted his statement on his blog, saying “Man, I want to thank each and every person who sent their love and condolences about my cousin, Ajile Turner. It has definitely been a tough time for me and my family, but as GOD always does he assures us that everything will be alright. I believe that you all’s support is just another way of assuring it. I thank you once again. God Bless.”

Common Accused of Plagiarism
Jul 20, 2009 Common
Rapper Common is being accused by a pair of songwriters of plagiarism. Andrew Marks and London McDaniels recently filed a lawsuit claiming that the rapper stole their song ‘When Will the Day Come’ in his tune ‘Take it EZ’. There’s an interesting twist though. Common gives the two writers some credit on the downloadable version of his song, with the tag saying “Contains samples from: ‘When Will the Day Come.’” But the problem is, the credit doesn’t exactly pay the rent. The two writers are now suing the rapper for unspecified damages. Common should have just given them credit from the very start.

Common was seen wearing his own design while he was out shopping earlier this past week at the Dolce & Gabbana store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California. The 36-year old actor and rapper wore his ‘I Used to Love Her’ shirt from his upcoming t-shirt line ‘Softwear by Microsoft’ which is slated to come out in Spring 2009. You just have to love shameless advertising. When you’re starting up a new business during this crappy economic period, you have to do everything you have to do to make it work. I wonder what his girlfriend, tennis player and part time designer Serena Williams, thought of his designs. Maybe they collaborated on some of them.

Rappers Delight
Feb 16, 2008 Blues, Busta Rhymes, Common, Concert Gig, Kanye West, Live Music, Rapper

Going to a concert is always a fun thing to do. It’s especially fun if artists have a little something planned too. Fans at the House of Blues in LA on Wednesday night got fun, more fun and even more fun.
Common was the one scheduled to take the stage but after a couple of songs, Kanye West came out to perform ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing’ and ‘Good Life’. If that wasn’t enough for you, Busta Rhymes also busted out on the stage and performed too. Essentially, that’s 3 shows for the price of one – how lucky can you get?

Common Debuts At Number One

Rapper Common has shot straight to the top of the U.S. albums chart with his new disc Finding Forever, holding off competition from rockers Korn’s Untitled. I cannot understand the logic that the youngsters in America follow, the rap music can easily be labeled as pure crap but instead of being at the bottom of the rung it is ruling the roost. What has happened to the lovers of rock and soulful music that warmed the hearts not many years ago. Now the lyrics have the n-word and the f-word in the song in every other line and then you see all these boys and girls swinging and dancing to these horrible songs. They dance as if they have pains in their hip joints and are using this dance form as a therapy just to get relief. Hopefully they don’t get used to the rap songs to much or in the church as well they will be praying in rap songs.
