Recalling his relationship with John Lennon, Sir Paul McCartney said he clings to the memory of John’s glasses slipping to the end of his nose as he told him: “I love you.”

“That’s really what I hold on to. That’s what I believe. The rest is showing off,” he said.

McCartney said Lennon talked a lot of crap that he did not intend. “John said so much crap that he later said he hadn’t meant. It’s bulls***. We were there. We all enjoyed it. I never really criticised John. I’m not that critical. It’s a question of personalities,” he told the Radio Times.

McCartney and Lennon’s historic songwriting collaboration as members of The Beatles appeared to erode once the band broke up in 1970.

He denied Lennon’s claim to journalists that McCartney sabotaged songs by not committing his full creative energy to them in the studio. Sir Paul said: “Oh, he was on drugs, wasn’t he? This is the trouble with history, with journalism. Whatever bad things John said about me, he would also slip his glasses down to the end of his nose and say, ‘I love you.’”

He recalled the chemistry of the band. “John’s was more abrasive than mine and that was good for his corner of the square that made up The Beatles. If we’d had two people like that – forget it – I don’t think it would have worked.”

How long one can take to improve one’s “an insufficient artistic level”? Well! Beatles have worked hard to improve from their insufficient artistic level to a reasonably acceptable level in a mere 43 years.
The Beatles planned to play in Israel at a concert in 1965 but the concert was cancelled because it was believed that the band had “an insufficient artistic level”.
Afterwards Israel expressed her embarrassment about the cancellation of the concert and tried to improve the situation. A letter was sent to the band from the Israel Embassy in London, last January, asking forgiveness for the “missed opportunity” to have the band that “shaped the minds of a generation, to come to Israel and perform before the young generation in Israel who admired you and continues to admire you.” The band was asked to consider their tour again.
McCartney has recently agreed to perform and has been booked for a huge outdoor concert in Tel Aviv on 25th September 2008.

John Lennon has inspired a new ice-cream flavour at Ben & Jerry’s.

‘Imagine Whirled Peace’ is a toffee, cookies and fudge flavour and has peace signs whirled through it.

At the Ben & Jerry’s site, they say “When Ben & Jerry’s wanted to talk about peace, we couldn’t think of a better person to exemplify the message than John Lennon. Through his art and lyrics he imagined a world without war and asked us all to ‘Give Peace a Chance’. We hope this whirly mixture of toffee cookies and fudge peace signs enlightens your bellies and souls and makes you ask what you can do to promote peace in your lives”.

But beware. That peace fudge might create war with your stomach. The ice cream comes with the warning “The Fudge Peace Sign Pieces Are Manufactured On Equipment That Also Processes Peanuts And Tree Nuts”.

Lennon’s signature appears on the carton, so we can only assume that he has approved of this marketing campaign from the grave.

A hard-working heavy metal rocker is in danger of losing her identity all because Yoko Ono wants to destroy another career for having the name Lennon. Lennon Murphy, a singer/songwriter whose band is called Lennon, has been sued by Yoko for “tarnishment” of her widow’s name and for “fraudulently” registering the name as a trademark. In court papers, Yoko is claiming that Murphy is intentionally exploiting the name, confusing people by using it and wants the trademark cancelled.

Murphy shot back on her MySpace page that Yoko and her lawyer were asked back in 2000 about using the name for her debut CD and they didn’t object. Murphy writes “If Yoko prevails, Lennon might never be able to tour or release records using the name Lennon.”

Lenny Kravitz wants to duet with Sir Paul McCartney. Well who wouldn’t?

The ‘American Woman’ singer, who owns a mixing desk from London’s Abbey Road Studios, famously used by The Beatles, wants the legendary musician to fly out to his Miami home to record a song with him.

Lenny said: “All the Beatles’ albums were recorded on that mixing desk and I got it when my first album ‘Let Love Rule’ came out in 1990, as I came into a bit of money. I’d seen a documentary in England made about it by one of the sound engineers and I knew I had to have it. It’s an incredible piece of gear. At the time I blew all of my money on it but if you offered me $10 million for it today I wouldn’t take it.

“When you see pictures of John Lennon sitting at the desk it’s just priceless. I’d love to bring Paul McCartney back to my place and make a record with him. How cool would that be?”

Kravitz’s new album ‘It’s Time For A Love Revolution’ is released next month.
