Michael Jackson’s Last Rehearsal to Become Album

Reports are saying that Michael Jackson’s final rehearsal the night before his death may be released as a posthumous album. The rehearsal, which included a spectacular display of dancers, musicians and aerial performers for the late King of Pop’s London O2 residency, was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and was recorded in HD on several different cameras with the sound digitally recorded as well. While the singer had missed several of the scheduled rehearsals before, he made it to the final one the night before he died. AEG Live could lose millions over the cancelled shows but the release of Michael’s final evening could compensate for the loss as fans rush to get some memorabilia.

Green Day Premieres Video for New Single “21 Guns”

Green Day has just premiered the video for their new single, “21 Guns,” exclusively on MySpace Music. The video was helmed by noted director Marc Webb, who has lensed clips for such artists as My Chemical Romance, Weezer, and All-American Rejects, and is making his feature film directorial debut in July with (500) Days of Summer.

“21 Guns” is the second single from the band’s latest album 21st Century Breakdown, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, as well as on the Rock, Active Rock, and Alternative charts, fueled by the Alternative radio No. 1 single “Know Your Enemy.” 21st Century Breakdown, which Rolling Stone has called “a rock opera in which the rock always comes first,” also topped the charts in 24 countries including the UK, Canada, and Japan.

Over the past month, Green Day has continued to work with MySpace Music for the promotion of 21st Century Breakdown. During the week of the album’s release, they played an exclusive concert in New York City which was filmed for the site’s premiere online concert program, The List. The performance can now be seen on The List’s official MySpace profile.

This year’s show will take place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 9th, and air the next day, Monday, August 10th, on FOX at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can vote for Green Day at http://www.teenchoiceawards.com/.

Black Eyed Peas First #1 Album And Highest Sales Week Ever

Black Eyed Peas ‘The E.N.D.’ Lands At #1 On The Billboard 200 Chart

Black Eyed Peas’ “The E.N.D.” bows at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 304,000 — the hip-pop act’s best sales week ever. It’s also the first No. 1 album for the group, which had previously gone as high as No. 2. Its last set, 2005’s “Monkey Business,” bowed in the runner-up slot with a then-best 291,000. It had the unfortunate luck to come out the same week as Coldplay’s “X&Y,” which kept the Peas’ at bay when it started at No. 1 with 737,000. via Billboard.com

Dave Matthews Band Release Big Whiskey

Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, the Dave Matthews Band’s first studio album in four years, will be released on June 2nd by RCA Records. On Friday, June 5th, Dave Matthews Band will perform on NBC’s “TODAY” show on Rockefeller Plaza, marking the first morning television appearance in the band’s career.

With its celebratory spirit and lyrical ruminations on fragile mortality, the album pays tribute to saxophonist LeRoi Moore, the band’s fallen partner. Moore passed away in the summer of 2008 while the group was on tour and midway through making the album. “When Roi died, it shook the whole band and left us saying, ‘What do we do now?’” recalls Matthews. “We knew that first of all, we had to finish this record that he was already in love with. So all of us went back in with the attitude ‘We can’t mess around with this one, because this one is an ode.”

When the remaining members regrouped in a New Orleans, LA studio in early 2009 to complete the album, they found they were able to integrate much of the material Moore had recorded during their 2008 sessions in Charlottesville, VA and Seattle, WA. “It’s so powerful to have Roi here with us for one last time on an album,” says violin player Boyd Tinsley. Guitarist Tim Reynolds, trumpeter Rashawn Ross and saxophonist Jeff Coffin also played on the album and will join the band on tour.

Produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance), Big Whiskey has been hailed by Rolling Stone as the group’s “heaviest album yet, both musically and emotionally,” which went on to note: “Throughout, Carter Beauford beats out elaborate, propulsive groves; bassist Stefan Lessard lays down Flea-style funk bass lines; violinist Boyd Tinsley plays cresting, intense runs; and Matthews mirrors Moore’s saxophone lines with scatlike singing.” Billboard, in a cover story on Dave Matthews Band, praised Big Whiskey

Matthews created all of the artwork for Big Whiskey, including the richly detailed cover illustration that puts a GrooGrux spin on New Orleans’ traditional Mardi Gras parades while evoking the joy and the sorrow expressed in the album’s songs. Matthews has designed logos and other elements in the past, but this is the first time he has created the entire packaging for a Dave Matthews Band album. For a limited time, fans can have fun unscrambling the cover at aveMatthewsBand.com.

Big Whiskey is the follow-up to 2005’s Stand Up, the fourth consecutive Dave Matthews Band studio album to enter The Billboard 200 at No. 1. It will be available in three versions: standard, deluxe (with Scenes from Big Whiskey, a documentary on the making of the album) and super-deluxe, which includes bonus tracks, a photo book and lithographs in addition to the CD and documentary. Check out www.Billboard.com for an exclusive preview of footage from Scenes from Big Whiskey.

The track listing for Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King is as follows:

1. Grux

Akon to produce Alexandra Burke’s first album

The rapper will be producing Alexandra Burke’s very first album. Akon had this to say about working with the winner of “The X Factor”: “I’ve had calls to work with Alex and I’m going to do it. I love ‘The X Factor’ and I love helping to break new artists. To me, it’s one of the most enjoyable and important aspects of my job.” Also, Akon had this to say about Alexandra Burke’s artistic potential: “I’m taking people’s word on how good Alex is, like I did with Leona. It was a really refreshing experience working with Leona – she’s so quiet and calm.” It looks like an open and shut case, really. Akon probably has nothing to worry about how well Alexandra Burke can perform… after all she won “The X Factor”, that’s got to say something. And, in truth, best-sellers can be practically made from scratch these days.

Timbaland says – too busy for new album

Super-producer Timbaland says he is to busy and has told his fans that they should not expect a new album from his stable him anytime soon.

The Apologize beat maker, some time ago confirmed that he intended to create a new album which will be a follow-up to Shock Value the 2007 hit release. But now he is saying that although he had every intention on delivering on his promise but fans not to get too excited, because completion on the project is a long way off due to all the production work he’s been taking on.

He says, “Man, I’m so in demand that people are making up albums just to try and keep up with me! What people are reading out there (about releasing a new album) is nonsense. I’m only just starting to think about Shock Value 2, just recording and putting some ideas together, so there are definitely no song titles, release date, or any other news related to the album. When Shock Value 2 finally does exist in the real world, everybody’s gonna hear it from me.”

Hey man we can wait, with all that shit you rappers have delivered in 2008 we would say you can put it on the backburner. If you are busy that would keep a lot of dog silent and not barking. They hate noise pollution.

No Line On The Horizon, the new studio album from U2

No Line On The Horizon, the new studio album from U2, will be released in North America on Tuesday, March 3, 2009.

Written and recorded in various locations, No Line On The Horizon is the group’s 12th studio album and is their first release since the nine million selling album How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, released in late 2004.

Sessions for No Line On The Horizon began last year in Fez, Morocco, and continued in the band’s own studio in Dublin, before moving to New York’s Platinum Sound Recording Studios. It was completed at Olympic Studios in London.

The album calls on the production talents of long-time collaborators Brian Eno and Danny Lanois, with additional production by Steve Lillywhite.

Kanye Tries to Explain

In comparison to the sales of his previous albums, Kanye West’s latest is release is anything but up to par. But if you need to have a good laugh, you need to read his recent blog post about his new album. He pretty much just builds up his own hype. Here’s a snippet: “I’M GONNA WALK THIS ALBUM SLOW LIKE A MORE INDEPENDENT APPROACH. I FEEL LIKE A NEW ARTIST. THERE’S ACTUALLY ARGUMENTS AGAIN. IT REMINDS ME OF THE FIRST ALBUM WHEN EVERYBODY SAID I COULDN’T RAP. I LISTENED TO ‘SAY YOU WILL’ LAST NIGHT AT MY HOUSE AND WAS DAAAMN, THIS SONG IS SOOOO DOOOPE!!! I’M A FAN OF WHAT I’VE MADE.” I’m sorry for all the caps by the way.

Rihanna Makes a Record

Queen of the World Rihanna has accomplished another impressive thing. According to Billboard, her album ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ has produced 8 charted singles, with all of the singles doing amazingly well. That’s a huge thing considering some people are lucky to get two hit songs off an album. The last person to do Rihanna’s charting was Shania Twain when her album ‘Come on Over’ produced 8 hits from 1997-1999. Rihanna was able to crank out 8 in less time than Shania though as the Barbadian babe just took 1 year and 7 months. ‘Umbrella’ sat at #1 for 7 weeks in 2007. ‘Shut Up and Drive’ went to #15 the same year as well as ‘Hate That I Love You’ which went to #7. ‘Don’t Stop the Music’ went to #3 in 2008. ‘Take a Bow’ was #1 for a week. Her collaboration with Maroon 5 ‘If I Never See Your Face Again’ was at #51. Disturbia was #1 for 2 weeks and ‘Rehab’ is at #91 to date.

50 Cent Pushes Back

It looks like 50 Cent’s new album ‘Before I Self Destruct’ has lived up to its title. The record has went off only to self destruct. The CD has now been pushed back to 2009 without a specific release date being set. The record was originally set to come out in early December to hopefully capitalize on holiday buying but after the kickoff single tanked, it’s now getting kicked to the curb. I say we should blame Scott Storch for producing the embarrassment of a first single ‘Get Up’. The official reason being given for the album’s delay is that the rapper was rushing to meet the December date but that he opted to wait until next year to fully secure advertising and retail placement.
