Rapper 50 Cent wants to star in a romantic comedy.
The hip-hop artist says he is considering trading his tough-guy image for a softer persona – by appearing in a feature film as a Hugh Grant-style role.
He said: “It would be interesting for people to see that side of me,” he says. “It would be a challenge, but I’ve seen artists like Ice Cube [who went from rap to acting] make the transition and challenge themselves.”
The In Da Club musician, real name Curtis Jackson, said: “It’s easier if a woman accepts you as a manly man.
“But a softer moment works, too, because then she’ll suddenly see you as a romantic.”
Sources are saying that while 50 Cent was filming his new music video for ‘Baby By Me’, the rapper was getting a little too friendly with former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland. It’s being said that things got pretty steamy on the set of the video and that it may have led to a bit of a fling. I don’t think either of them could do better than the other anyway. At the very least, they haven’t stooped to anything lower. It shows that the entertainers still have some sort of dignity left in them – however little it may be.
Forest Whitaker is currently in the midst of negotiations to star in a modern adaptation of the classic “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”. And he will be staring alongside rapper 50 Cent in this one… Forest Whitaker calls this an “on screen father-son relationship”: “We’re still figuring out what we’re going to do, if I am going to be doing that or not. If I end up doing it, I would be playing Jekyll and he would be playing Hyde. It’s a father-son kind of relationship. It’s also an interesting script because we are dealing with similar things. Jekyll has a lot of issues and problems personally. Hidden passions, hidden perversions – and it is acted out by 50.” Dude, make up your mind: are you playing Jekyll or Hyde? How is 50 cent ever going to be able to work with such an undecided man?
50 Cent and his reps have pissed off a German promotional company. And now, they are all facing a lawsuit. The German company, Major Movez, claims that the William Morris Endeavor agency charged them $125,000 to negotiate a concert as a good faith gesture. If the concert were not to happen, the money would be returned to them, with no deductions. However, the concert did not take place and the money wasn’t returned. Now, the option that’s left is to go to court and have all the issues aired out. I wonder if this will turn out into an all out war like the rapper’s recent court battle with his ex-girlfriend.
The rapper recently sued an engineering firm called BHV Integrated Services due to the fact that they might have under-evaluated the costs of repairing a mansion he bought from Mike Tyson’s former wife. 50 Cent said that the company evaluated the total repairs at about five hundred thousand dollars, but he spent three million on repairs. In turn, the guys from BHV defended themselves by saying that the rapper spent that money on extravagantly expensive upgrades. Now who are we going to believe: the rapper 50 Cent who seems to be trying to subtly amortize his expenses with Mike Tyson’s former mansion, or the BHV guys?
50 Cent recently had an interview in the new issue of King magazine where he gave Diddy a backhanded compliment. The rapper said “Puffy has the best model for staying relevant, because [he does it] without a song. He’s been able to maintain an interest and stay in a space to executive produce television and film projects, and stay relevant to hip-hop culture. What was the last record that made you feel like, ‘Oh, my God, Puffy is on fire’? You don’t need it. That’s what makes his business model exciting to me. There are only three of us to look at: Jay, [me] and Puff. [We have] three totally different situations. We’ve just been a part of hip-hop culture. That’s the similarity. I still think they’ll be relevant. I just think they’re like the fire hydrant: You can’t move those guys out of the street. I think they’ll [still] be the guys you need to connect with [to] get a shot.”
I was beginning to think that the people who care about 50 Cent’s career have become imaginary but it seems it’s really the rapper’s imagination that has gotten ahead of him. 50 just announced that he won’t be releasing his new album ‘Before I Self Destruct’ until after Eminem drops his tentatively titled upcoming album ‘Relapse’. It’s nice considering that Eminem was pretty much responsible for launching his career. One big problem though. Eminem’s ‘Relapse’ still has no release date so it might be a while before we get to hear 50’s album. That may not be such a bad thing.
Even is the single ‘Crack a Bottle’ by the rapping powerhouse trio of Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent is somewhat of a dud considering the hits they have among them, the song somehow managed to set a new Billboard record for first week download sales. The boring comeback track from Eminem and company is the new #1 song in America as it stole the top spot from the previous opening week record holders, TI and Rihanna. Am I missing something with that song? I just don’t get how it got the top spot. Maybe people just got curious is Eminem is still the same douche bag he was years ago. I bet people will stop caring in a few days.
Oprah Winfrey always comes out on top of the list of Top Earning African American Stars by Forbes. But do you know who came in second this year? 50 Cent! The list was compiled from the amount of money that celebrities made between June 2007 to June 2008. According to Forbes, the rapper brought it around $150 million during that year. I doubt any money was made off of his music career though. His investment in Vitamin Water, his clothing line and video games must have brought in the cash. 50 has also recently launched a film company and is planning to launch his own line of dietary supplements.
According to the always arrogant rapper 50 Cents his rival ‘Nas’ is no longer a chart competitor and feels that the veteran singer’s career is all but over. He feels that ‘Nas’ is no longer a threat and if he is to be believed then his rivals’ career is “finished”.
Speaking to the XXL magazine he says, “Nas is cold as ice. Nas is the block of ice that sunk the Titanic… I didn’t even hear his record. I didn’t even hear what you talking about… I really don’t want to talk about Nas. I think he’s at one of those points to where his career’s finished, to be honest.”
I think 50 Cents is starting to feel the heat from other singers and therefore he is trying to target some of his lower radar rivals in a bid to make his presence felt. Frankly the music this chap makes is way too crap to even consider it as music.
But as we all know he is acclaimed for his business mindedness and therefore he is more often than not able to come with unique plans to sell his music albums.
Rapper 50 Cent’s own reality TV show hosted by MTV called 50 Cent: The Money And The Power has been shelved by MTV after continuously receiving poor ratings.
This show is about rapper 50 Cents attempt to find the next hip-hop mogul from a group of fourteen wannabes, where the winner would be given prize money of $100,000. The sum will feature as an investment from 50 Cent and he will help the winner of the show to start their own business venture.
But from the time it debuted on TV on November 6th, 2008 the show completely failed to kick off and viewers weren’t forthcoming either and almost after one & half months after going on air the network has now decided to scrap the flailing show.
Yeah I somewhat agree with this, I too tried to get into it, mainly because it was aired on my B’Day, but it really didn’t stick. 50 did not leave anything to the others’ and as usual played the show as if he was some kinda mafia boss. 50, you’re not the really tough guy; you’re a snitch and poor dumb yoyo. You are a follower..didnt mommy teach you to be a leader?
50 Cent used to wear sliver and platinum chains till recently but 50 Cent now has kind of (temporarily or permanently it is not known) shifted his style from thug to dapper lately. Gone are the heavy chains and rugged looks and now we have tailored suits.
That was the crap news cos’ it really doesn’t matter what 50 Cent wears or how he looks to millions what we would rather cheer is if he would reduce the price of is music and we all deserve it. If the Fed can cut interest rates to their lowest since may be 1954 then man we got to have everything at cheap prices.
That especially we some of us still can bear to listen to a piece of crap that 50 Cent manages to call music and the music charts kind of award his albums some kind of rating. You know guys this is something that really surprises me about this insane world. People do not have clothes and food but animals as pets of some rich people live life in a 5 star hotel.

Sometimes things just have the way of being ironic. 50 Cent tried to not get spotted by the paparazzi but the opposite happened when someone locked the keys inside the Rolls Royce that he drove to his hotel in London. Thankfully, he had an escape artist in his security on hand. The rapper’s security team then proceeded to try and get the door opened with a wire coat hanger. Things got worse after that as a parking attendant gave them a ticket for leaving the car outside the hotel. 50 is currently in London to star in a new film called ‘Dead Man Running’ which is set to be released next year.
Rapper 50 Cent was in a terrible situation when he found out the he had locked himself out of his Rolls Royce, the incident took place on Friday last week when the rapper was on a visit to London where he was filming a new movie with actress Brenda Blethyn.
And this got worse thereon as his car was ticketed by a parking attendant. The only thing that saved him for the day that a member of his entourage was able to break into the car using a wire coat hanger.
Nothing to funny here as such things could happen to any one of us and who said just cause your a “big star” that human things like locking yourself out your own car and getting tickets wasn’t gonna happen.
But it would have been great fun if the hanger did not work and they had to bust his pretty Rolls Royce window out so that could go along with his ticket.
It looks like 50 Cent’s new album ‘Before I Self Destruct’ has lived up to its title. The record has went off only to self destruct. The CD has now been pushed back to 2009 without a specific release date being set. The record was originally set to come out in early December to hopefully capitalize on holiday buying but after the kickoff single tanked, it’s now getting kicked to the curb. I say we should blame Scott Storch for producing the embarrassment of a first single ‘Get Up’. The official reason being given for the album’s delay is that the rapper was rushing to meet the December date but that he opted to wait until next year to fully secure advertising and retail placement.
I guess his album is living up to it’s name.
His new album, aptly named Before I Self Destruct, is now being pushed back to 2009. Way 2009! There’s not even a new release date set yet.

Another Kanye West versus 50 Cent show down is about to come upon us! The two rappers are releasing new albums in December with only a week separating them. 50 will release his new record on December 9 while Kanye will release his on December 16. I smell a publicity stunt! Apparently, the two are already warming up for the show down as according to a report, 50 poked fun at Kanye’s new single ‘Love Lockdown’ with a sarcastic rendition of the song, with Tony Yayo pretending to smash a camera in reference to Kanye’s biff with the paparazzi. Kanye responded on his blog saying “I guarantee this will be 50’s favorite album of mine. This will be gangster’s album of the year.”
50 Cent is still going through a whole lot of baby mama drama to be able to spend less time with his kid. Say what? Sources close to the case reveal that the rapper wants visitation with his 11-year old son every other weekend and that’s it. That makes it 3 separate cases and a load of legal bills for very little time. 50’s lawyer Brett Kimmel also said that the rapper is looking for a month during the summer and access during school recesses. His lawyer says that the request “maximizes the time the child can spend with his father while remaining sensitive to the child’s own schedule.” Sure.
Reports that said that 50 Cent was uninterested in speaking with officials about the fire that engulfed his home turned out to be a little on the inaccurate side. The rapper’s reps issued a statement last week about the reports saying “50 and his attorneys met yesterday (Wednesday) with Suffolk County authorities regarding the fire that destroyed 50’s house. The meeting had been arranged weeks ago. 50 is eager to review the findings of the investigation, when it is concluded.” I’m eager to find out what’s up with the investigation too. Maybe then the drama around 50 can stop and I can stop writing about his crazy baby mama.
Hip hop is one rich industry. According to Forbes, in the last year alone, Jay-Z released a platinum album and signed a $150 million deal with Live Nation for a 10-year contract. But that pales in comparison to 50 Cent who, after taxes, took in over $100 million when his stake in the high-calorie Vitamin Water was bought by Coca-Cola. In total, 50 raked in over $150 million in just 12 months – double what Jay-Z made last year. So 50 comes in first on the list of richest hip hop artists for 2008. Jay-Z comes in second. Diddy comes in third for the second year in a row after raking in $35 million from all his revenue streams. Kanye West came in fourth with $30 million.
