Halle Berry Talks Aretha Franklin Movie

Halle Berry is being pursued to star in a biopic about Aretha Franklin by the iconic soul singer herself but the 44-year old actress recently joked with Ryan Seacrest that she didn’t have the voice to pull off the role. Apparently, Aretha found out about it and wrote a letter, read on the Wendy Williams Show, addressing the issue. She wrote “Many actors have portrayed vocalists by lip-synching to the artist’s original recordings.” As long as the story and script is good, I think Halle should do it. Since it’s a movie on Aretha’s life, I know it’s going to be good.

New Song from Wiz Khalifa – Roll Up

Pittsburgh native Wiz Khalifa has unveiled the second single from his upcoming major label debut “Rolling Papers”, which is due out on March 29th. The song is called “Roll Up” and will serve as the follow up to the rapper’s smash hit “Black and Yellow”. “Roll Up” is a synth-heavy production and it’s not all hood rapping like in the case of his previous single. In fact, I think it has a crossover appeal with its more Top 40 sounding, R&B-like sound with soft raps. The song is basically about Wiz being willing to cater to this girl at every moment unlike others. I love the new tune and think it’s going to be a hit for Wiz.

Diddy is inspired to further procreate

It seems that the rapper who is good friends with David Beckham has been inspired by him to further procreate the species. This is what Diddy had to say about the idea of having another kid… in addition to the five he already has: “I last saw Beckham a couple months ago. We are both proud fathers. That’s what our friendship is about, not being stars or artists. We ask how are kids are doing. I’m so happy he’s got another on the way. I hope he has as many as me. I want more.” Well, well, these boys seem to take pride in extending their gene pools. Diddy is pretty close to building a dynasty actually, at the way he’s going.

Ice-T’s son gets arrested

The singer’s 19 year-old son apparently got himself arrested recently. Now that’s not such a strange thing really as it’s almost a rite of passage for rappers, but what Ice-T’s son got arrested for is another and much more strange matter entirely. Ice Marrow Jr. was apparently arrested for suspicion of indecent exposure. Now how does one only suspect someone of indecent exposure? Ice-T’s son either showed something in public or he didn’t, where’s the suspicion coming from? He got off easy though, with a mere 5, 000 dollar bail. Not a bad day’s work for the police it would seem.

Nas owes Uncle Sam big time

It seems that the rapper is a bit behind with his taxes. Nas supposedly owes the US Government no less than six million dollars in unpaid taxes. Things certainly aren’t going to well for Nas. Maybe Uncle Sam will cut him a bit of slack, after all Kelis is tearing him limb from limb for the child support he has to pay her. And it doesn’t look like his rapping is going to be cashing in some too amazing checks anytime soon. Maybe he should try a little more mainstream music, get into some more successful acts, skim from somebody else’s plate. It’s getting so he might not have any other choice.

Chris Brown Talks Art

Chris Brown recently used his Twitter to show off some of his colorful collaborations with Australian graffiti specialist Kid Zoom. The 21-year old R&B singer said “I fell in love with art around the age of six. I always took pride in kind of winning the coloring contests in school. Art was my only outlet. Aside from music, art is the thing that I like to use as an escape. I appreciate other artists who have that talent and that eye for detail and eye for their own imagination. Art is a part of my life and it influences me completely.”

Nicki Minaj’s rough background

The singer recently told the little story behind her very tough nature. It seems that Nicki Minaj’s rather unsettling childhood is to blame for her being what some might call a regular badass. This is what she had to relate: "All of my young and teenage early years we lived in fear that my mother would be killed by my father. It was ridiculous. It made me act out to guys and be evil when I was growing up. It made me tough. Of course it did. I am an emotional person, but I am a tough person. We didn’t really have many options and that makes you feel helpless. And I think that is the worst feeling. I can’t be like my mom – I know I can cut ties and still make it. She didn’t when I felt she should have done. That’s been my thing, I’ve been able to say, ‘This isn’t working any more...

Keyshia Cole Fires Manager

In light of the not so stellar first week sales of her latest album “Calling All Hearts”, Keyshia Cole has decided to part ways with her longtime manager, Manny Halley. The R&B singer’s album really hasn’t performed as she would have liked, only debuting at #9 on the Billboard 200 as opposed to the #2 debut of her previous studio effort. Keyshia confirmed the news on Twitter saying “Would like for u guys to know that Manny Halley is no longer my management. Someone said if the people around u won’t change, change the people around you.” It’s a tough call but maybe it’s for the best.

50 Cent is starting his own production company

It seems that the diamond business might not be going so well so 50 Cent has decided to put his money somewhere where he might get a better return from it. So the rapper is apparently going to be making his own movie production company. This is what 50 Cent’s partner in the venture had to say on the matter: “We’re going to do what we normally do: sit in a room and brainstorm and try to come up with new ideas … you know, outside the box. Be creative and just work together and try to be positive. That’s the main thing. It’s about working hard, being positive and working together.” Well his partner seems to be overly-optimistic about the project. Hopefully 50 Cent feels the same and his overly-extensive cinematographic experience will prove invaluable in this new endeavor...

Gucci Mane Collaborating with Britney Spears

Gucci Mane is blabbing to sources that he’s throwing down a few lines for Britney Spears’ new album. According to the rapper, he’s set to meet the pop singer this week in an Atlanta studio to record a track called “Hit”. Gucci insisted that Britney was a fan of his music for years and her adoration is what persuaded him to record a song with her. When asked about working with her, he said “Britney’s so icy. I’m going to make her go Brrr … She’s crazy. We like to get down like that.” I wonder if that was a reference to the ice cream cone tattoo on his face.
