Ice Cube is coming back

It’s official and it’s coming straight from his blog: the rapper is returning to music with a new studio album. This is what Ice Cube wrote on his imminent return: “I Am The West’ is the name of my new record. After completing about 65 per cent of my music, this is the new perfect title. This shit is cocky, no apologies, West Coast gangsta shit. I can’t help it. That’s what I do… June seems too tight for a release, but July is very doable. We’ll see how things go. Now that I have my title, I can work on the concept of my photoshoot and artwork. I want to provide.” Coming back in full force, no doubt… acting must’ve been really slow lately...

Akon gives up his radio show

The singer was supposed to do a two-hour show every Saturday night for a London radio station but after just one broadcast it seems Akon saw fit to leave his newfound profession. This is what a spokesperson at the station said about Akon’s sudden change of heart: “Due to Akon’s commitments, including working on a brand new album, we won’t be broadcasting a regular show on 95.8 Capital FM for the time being. Our conversations about future shows are ongoing as we explore other opportunities that may work for both of us.” Working on a new album is definitely tops and a very long and hard job at that. And Akon’s fans cannot be kept waiting, now can they? It’s not like they might’ve enjoyed hearing him live on the radio as opposed to some digital recording of him.

Eve Owes the Government

Another celebrity is trying to escape the tax collector as rapper Eve owes a whopping 357,000 big ones to the IRS after falling behind on income tax payments in 2008 and 2009. Four different liens have been filed against Eve. Two came from the IRS and two from the state of California. That’s not good at all especially since she doesn’t have much going on with her music career. Maybe she should line up more guest starring roles like she did for ‘Glee’. Where else is she going to get the money to pay the money she owes? I wonder who’s hiring?

The Dream gets future offspring a car

Now this is excellent family planning right here. Rapper The Dream who is expecting his first child with his wife Christina Milian and he’s already bought his future child a car. This is what The Dream said about being a parent: “The baby will be here Sunday, no later than Sunday! The baby already has a car, I got a house just for the baby – Christina can’t get in the baby’s car. I’m giving all my attention that I usually give to Christina to the baby, all the flowers I usually give Christina, I’m giving them to the baby.” Disregarding the fact that cars might be obsolete by the time The Dream’s kid actually gets a license, is the man out of his mind? One might think The Dream is going to completely ignore his wife after the child is born...

Ashanti Stalker Heads to Jail

Nothing says true love like a psychotic stalker texting your mom. A Manhattan Judge sentenced Devar Hurd to jail for relentlessly stalking and harassing washed up R&B singer Ashanti and her mom/manager Tina Douglas. The crazy guy claimed that he locked eyes with Ashanti at a concert in Chicago and ever since then was under the impression that they were in love. He began texting Tina raunchy images of himself masturbating and calling her, as well as Irv Gotti, in hopes to reach the singer. The judge says that Hurd has a very serious mental illness, saying “Mr. Hurd, I realize that you don’t want to hear this, but it’s obvious to me that you need help.”

Leona Lewis does not travel light

It seems that Leona Lewis is about to embark on her first ever world tour and she’s a bit edgy about it. Thankfully, she’s found the perfect way to get over herself: pack a lot of food for the trip. This is what Leona Lewis said on the matter: “The worst thing is missing home. Like anyone who has to travel for their work, you do get a bit homesick sometimes. So I travel with my PG Tips tea and my baked beans.” Well, certainly that is all any up and coming artist really needs: the baked beans. Leona Lewis is actually setting a ground-breaking example her and is once again proving how well Simon Cowell has taught her.

Peaches is No Superstar

Electronic rapper Peaches had planned a very special concert where she would be performing the music of the musical ‘Jesus Christ: Superstar’ as a one woman show in Berlin. However, the German right holders to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s shows refused to give her permission to perform the music. Peaches went on her Twitter to talk about the project saying “[They] claim that this project is of no interest to them due to its unconventional form. It’s a shame that the authorities feel threatened by this fresh approach. I know a lot of people who really love the music and would appreciate this stripped-down solo performance. I have so much respect for the music and lyrics from the original score and this was my way of honouring that.”

Lil Wayne Lawsuit

No one should be surprised anymore when you hear the name Lil Wayne and the word lawsuit in the same sentence. The rapper is getting sued by record producer Darius Harrison for $2.5 million. It seems that the producer and The Royalty Network are claiming they’re owed the money in unpaid royalties. Darius claims that they own the rights for the use of ‘Mrs. Officer’ on Lil Wayne’s 2008 CD ‘Tha Carter III’ and say that they own the rights to any profits that the rapper made due to the sale of ring tones, music videos and such. It’s not the first lawsuit of its kind and when it comes to Lil Wayne, I doubt it would be the last.

Leona Lewis Causes Brit Awards Menu Change

Leona Lewis recently attended the Brit Awards which were held at Earls Court in London this past Tuesday. It should be interesting to note that the 24-year old singer, who happens to be a strict vegetarian, made a special request at the ceremony. Leona went on her Twitter to talk about it, saying “I was outraged 2 hear that the Brit Awards were planning 2 serve foie-gras at the ceremony. They hav now removed it from the menu, well done! MC Hammer Lawsuit

I wonder if Cash-4-Gold spokesman MC Hammer has extra cash lying around to pay off a lawsuit. The washed up rapper failed to follow through on a deal he had with the digital network communications firm PacketSwitch.com back in 2003, in which MC Hammer had agreed to “help market the company” with shares of the firm in return. PacketSwitch.com was reportedly awarded damages in 2003 but the rapper never paid up. MC Hammer claimed that the lawsuit was never delivered to him because the legal docs misspelled his last name. A US District Judge easily dismissed the claim and MC Hammer is finally being ordered to pay up.
