Of all the people who would gnaw and claw at the Michael Jackson estate in order to get a piece of it, you wouldn’t expect R. Kelly to be among them. But it seems that this is the case as the singer’s representatives are claiming that Michael Jackson never did pay for his usage of “Ignition” during his show “Michael Jackson’s Private Home Movies” so it’s time for the estate to pay up for that debt. In truth, the amount R. Kelly’s representatives are claiming to be owed could actually be named insignificant since it’s a paltry three thousand dollars, but then again, you never know which one will be the drop that fills the glass. Maybe R. Kelly’s small pinch might just make the big colossus come crashing down.

Kanye West and Taylor Swift round two

The dynamic duo will be reunited on Quincy Jones’ remake of the famous track “We are the world”. Finally we will all get to see if Kanye West and Taylor Swift can make up after their unpleasant little incident in September. Kanye West will finally get the chance to repent for his outburst back then… either that or he can “help” his reputation even more. But hey, it’s a charity sing along, maybe he can refrain himself from being, well, himself. Maybe Taylor Swift will give Kanye West a small taste of his own medicine, that might make him go into his corner and thing about what he’s done.

T.I. Lawsuit

TI, who is currently in a halfway house after doing time for weapons possession, is being sued for copyright infringement. Rapper Motoe Blizzid is claiming that the legally troubled rapper used part of his 2004 song ‘Reverence’ in the TI hit track ‘What You Know’. Blizzid is alleging that the 2006 single has the “same rate of harmonic range” and that they have “nearly identical instrumental melodic lines in terms of pitch, shape and rhythm”. He is seeking damages and profits received from ‘What You Know’. While there are a lot of songs that sound alike, from what Blizzid is alleging, it seems like TI might have to pay up.

Diddy’s Kid Gets the Works

This past weekend, Diddy threw his eldest son Justin Dior Combs a star studded and expensive birthday bash to celebrate turning 16. At the end of the party, the music mogul surprised Justin with the keys to a $360,000 car. No, that’s not a typo. The 16-year old kid is now a proud owner of a Maybach sports car. All in all, Justin got a whole bunch of celebrities, an MTV film crew – his birthday was being filmed for the network’s series ‘My Super Sweet 16’ –and a car for his birthday. Let’s hope that he’s a really good driver or that car’s going to be a pretty expensive piece of trash.
Shaggy’s new song

And speaking of singing for charity, it seems that Simon Cowell is not going to be the only one putting bonus tracks out there to raise money for charity. Reggae singer Shaggy has gathered up a select Caribbean crew in order to record a new track called “Rise Again” in order to gather up money for Haiti… and maybe a little extra on the side, as well. Shaggy is the author of the song, at least he can be given credit for that as others just chose to do covers or remakes of old songs. Not very charitable work, though. Maybe Shaggy will even fly over to Haiti and hold a concert there, after all, there are still people alive there and they too need entertainment.
Joe Jackson Wants Money

Michael Jackson’s estate doesn’t want to pay Joe Jackson an allowance because the King of Pop himself didn’t want his dad to be a beneficiary under the will and Joe wants to use the money for lavish expenses and not maintenance. According to legal documents that were recently filed, estate lawyers say that Joe was never legally dependent on the late singer during his life. And according to them the so-called maintenance expenses that Joe was asking for actually include vacations, air travel, hotels, assistants and legal fees. Those aren’t really things that need maintaining. He’s just looking for any reason to mooch off of Michael’s money.

Omarion Takes Over Judging Duties

With previous judge Shane Sparks being charged with 8 counts of felony child molestation, Omarion is taking over as judge on the upcoming 5th season of America’s Best Dance Crew. The former B2K singer said “I’m so excited to be a judge on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. Dancing and performing is what I do and being a judge on this show will allow me to give creative feedback to the newest and hottest dancers on the rise.” Executive producer Randy Jackson is also pleased to have Omarion on board saying “Omarion is a great friend, and I am looking forward to him joining the ABDC family. Season five is going to be blazing hot!”

Ja Rule’s Gun Possession Case Still Going
Ja Rule has unsuccessfully tried to get his gun possession case dropped an now his lawyer says that they’re going to continue to fight the charges. The rapper’s argument was that the cops didn’t have a cause to search his car after a concert which resulted in the authorities finding an unlicensed handgun. The judge recently denied the motion but did say that Ja Rule admitting he had a little weed in his pocket at the scene will not be used against him. Gun possession charges are serious though and carry a mandatory minimum of 3 and a half years in jail. Ja Rule will next be in court on March 3.
Diddy’s gift for his son

It must be really cool to have a mega-rap star as a father. This is probably how Justin, Diddy’s son, feels after recently getting to be sixteen. As if the party he had wasn’t enough, Diddy went ahead and bought his son a Maybach sports car that cost 360 000 dollars. Just what the world needs, another sixteen-year old, barely with his learner’s permit in hand, cruising the streets in a high-speed car. Diddy really showed some kick-ass father-ship with this one. Justin probably loves his dad all the more after this recent purchase and of course everybody got to see that he got it on MTV. What more could the kid want?

Ja Rule gun possession case still stands

Another rapper with another .40 handgun that’s going to be tried for it, but it seems Ja Rule tried to have the case dropped by claiming that the police had no cause to search his car the day they found the gun. His judge didn’t buy it of course, but he did give Ja Rule a break. Apparently the rapper also admitted that he had some weed in his pocket and that is not going to be used against him in his trial. Isn’t there a bit of incongruence here? They’re going to have a trial about a gun that was found accidentally, but they’re not going to hold it against him that he had drugs on him. Is marijuana suddenly legal for Ja Rule?

The infamous singer with the very, very nasty reputation of a “violent man” was recently seen at Jean-Paul Gautlier’s “pro-fighter” fashion show, and he even posed with the designer who had make-up and fake blood on. Now that’s a really befitting pose for Chris Brown, isn’t it? They should have a t-shirt made of that, or better yet, get Madame Tousaud’s to make a real-life copy of Rihanna, with all of the “effects” of course and Chris Brown could pose with that. A picture like that would probably turn a lot of heads… perhaps not with the best intentions, but that’s just a minor detail.

And it seems that the rapper isn’t just any role model for any old run down, poor kid, no, Snoop Dogg is a role model for big people, like Tom Cruise whom the rapper thinks whishes to be in his shoes. This is what Snoop Dogg said on the matter: “When I started to star in films I used to say, ‘I dream of becoming the black version of Tom Cruise.’ Today I think it’s the other way round, ‘Tom Cruise could dream of becoming the white version of Snoop Dogg.’” Right, well, who wouldn’t give anything to be any type of version of Snoop Dogg? Just imagine… you could be like one of Santa’s helpers, but with way more benefits.

No Invitation for Kanye West

It is being said that Kanye West was not invited to participate in George Clooney’s telethon fundraiser for the earthquake victims in Haiti due to his bad reputation. One of the producers of the special said “After what he said on the Katrina telethon and the way he behaved at the MTV Video Music Awards, everyone agrees it’s just best that he does not participate. Kanye has to make everything about himself. He will do anything to steal the spotlight and, well, this night it’s just not about him.” I can’t say I blame them. However, a rep for MTV has come out and said that the rapper has indeed been invited but that they didn’t hear from him regarding his participation.

Beyonce Talks Family
Beyonce is featured on the February 2010 cover of Allure magazine which hits stands on January 26. The 28-year old singer shared her plans on starting a family with her rapper hubby Jay-Z. Beyonce said “I definitely want to have a child, but I know from my nephew [Juelz] it’s a lot. I hope that those things will just happen naturally. I still haven’t had time to relax.” That’s right! She first needs to find the time to actually settle down in one place without working to even try to start a family of her own. I bet she and Jay-Z will have some cute kids though.

The Black Eyed Peas singer is apparently losing touch with his professional nature. It seems will.i.am was really steamed-up in the backstage of the Peoples Choice Awards that when his assistant didn’t have his drink ready immediately he hit the roof. It is a good thing for will.i.am though that he didn’t hit his assistant… after all, nobody can go too far with a broken reputation these days. But it was the assistant’s fault too, though… it can get very dehydrating to perform a show. will.i.am deserves more careful attention than just that… after all, he is a star with special star needs.

Jay-Z and U2 working together
The two musical giants seem to have combined their forces in order to do a charity event to raise money for Haiti. The Edge from U2 revealed the following about this new master plan to help the victims of the terrible disaster that befell Haiti: “Bono got a call from a producer, Swizz. He and Jay-Z wanted to do something for Haiti. So Bono came up with a phrase on the phone and last night we were here, we wrote a song, finished, recorded, and sent it back to them. So, that might be the next thing you hear from us.” How come Jay-Z and Bono don’t just take the production money and go hand in hand to Haiti, donate it for whatever it is needed and start helping out? No, they have to put on a show… after all, this Swizz fellow has to make a living too somehow, doesn’t he?
Kelis VS PETA

Kelis was recently verbally attacked by PETA having received a personalized letter about the singer wearing fur. She wasn’t having any of that so she wrote a letter back to the organization via her MySpace blog. She talked about why she likes wearing fur, eating meat and how PETA should find a more worthwhile cause, saying “If u want to preach do it about something worthwhile don’t waste my time trying to save the dang chipmunk. Find a worthwhile cause like the women being maimed in these Middle Eastern countries. Or female circumcision. Or women’s rights here in America, we still get paid less for doing the same jobs as men. Quite honestly if you hate the world so much go live in the forest where no one else has to hear you complain about the perfectly good food chain the good Lord created. Everyone has the right to an opinion, and that’s mine on that! xoxo”

Of course the rapper isn’t just going there to sing simply because he likes to boggie… no, Jay-Z is going to the BRITs because he too is nominated for two awards. How come he doesn’t leave some for the little guys, too? What rapper can make a decent career for himself anymore if Jay-Z is over there hogging all of the glory?

Wyclef Jean calls for evacuation of Haiti capital

The struggle continues and Wyclef Jean keeps more or less true to his word of doing everything he can for his home country of Haiti. It seems the singer believes the nation’s capital, Port-au-Prince, needs to be evacuated immediately, however the way he goes about it might suggest that Wyclef Jean is a bit out of his league. This is what he said on the matter: “We need to migrate at least 2 million people. I give you my word, if I tell them to go, they will go. But they need somewhere to go to.” Well, well, looks like the people of Haiti have a new local god, don’t they? Isn’t Wyclef Jean taking his influence a tad too far this time?

Diddy’s childhood heroes

At the recent BET Honor Awards the famous rapper shared with everyone the identity of his true childhood heroes. It seems that while a child Diddy had great respect and fascination with the men who handled the garbage. He said that he enjoyed watching their “synchronized art and work ethic”. So what cartoon did Diddy grow up in? Because only there did garbage men actually have a “synchronized art” while working… mainly because they were probably singing. Perhaps Diddy was at some point one of those children who gets confused about what reality and TV and which is which.
