Common Talks Cousin’s Death
Common has broken his silence about his cousin’s tragic death last week and took the time to thank everyone for their support during the tough time. The rapper posted his statement on his blog, saying “Man, I want to thank each and every person who sent their love and condolences about my cousin, Ajile Turner. It has definitely been a tough time for me and my family, but as GOD always does he assures us that everything will be alright. I believe that you all’s support is just another way of assuring it. I thank you once again. God Bless.”

Beyonce thinks young women under too much pressure to lose weight
Sep 29, 2009 Beyonce, Weight Loss

Singer Beyonce thinks young women are put under too much pressure to lose weight and not all men like skinny girls.
The wife of rapper Jay-Z believes that losing weight is hard.
When asked about how she lost weight for her tour, the Crazy In Love singer said: “Oh, it’s hard! When I was a teenager it was always hard for me to lose weight before the summer so I could look hot in my bathing suit. I’d always tell my mum it was her fault, as she made incredible fried chicken and other fried foods. So I basically worked out and ate lots of salads. It’s a matter of motivation.”
Beyonce, 28, added: “The only thing that really motivates me to lose weight is when I have to get ready for a film or go on tour. But I’m not obsessive about my weight. Young women have too much pressure on them and the main thing is to eat healthy foods and exercise. That’s my message.”
The star, whose new single Broken Hearted Girl is due to be released in November, also said: “Not all men like super skinny girls.”

Elizabeth Taylor Wants to be by Michael Jackson’s Grave
Sep 28, 2009 Michael Jackson
After attending Michael Jackson’s funeral service in Los Angeles, actress Elizabeth Taylor is now said to be looking for a plot next to the late pop singer. A source said “After sitting through Michael’s funeral service at the Great Mausoleum, with its magnificent stained-glass windows and replicas of Michelangelo’s artworks, she later told friends, ‘I felt a sense of peace there that I’ve never experienced before.’” Elizabeth then talked about her friendship with the singer saying “I loved Michael with all my soul and I can’t imagine life without him. We had so much in common and we had such loving fun together. He will live in my heart forever but it’s not enough. My life feels so empty. I don’t think anyone knew how much we loved each other. It was the purest, most giving love I’ve ever known.”

Eminem’s Music Publishers Suing Apple
Eminem’s music publishers, Eight Mile Style LLC, are going after Apple Inc., claiming they “never authorized the use of 93 songs in a downloadable format on Apple’s popular iTunes service.” The two companies are expected to being a non-jury trial proceeding today but it’s unlikely that the rapper will appear. It’s unknown how much money is actually at stake but Eminem’s people are claiming that they’ve lost upwards of $2.5 million from iTunes download sales. Apple is denying the whole thing saying that they have a legal and viable contract with Aftermath Records, which controls the recordings in question. Eminem’s music publishers also filed a lawsuit against the label saying that they had no right to provide the songs.

Last Original Sugababe Leaves
Sep 25, 2009 Music Bands, Sugababes
After a lot of cat fights within the band, Keisha Buchanan is no longer a member of Sugababes and has decided to pursue a solo career. The announcement was made on their official website which said “The current line-up of the Sugababes has disbanded. Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah will continue as the Sugababes and will be joined by new member Jade Ewen. They release their album ‘Sweet 7’ on November 23rd through Island Records. Keisha Buchanan will continue to record for Island Records as a solo artist.” Keisha was the last of the original line up to have left the band. I wonder what went down with the other girls to have her kicked out. It’s obvious that the problem wasn’t with the label as she’s still with them as a solo artist.

Eminem Denied
Sep 24, 2009 Eminem, Mariah Carey, Radio Station
During an interview with the French radio program ‘Le 6-9’ last week, the host asked if Mariah Carey’s ‘Obsessed’ is a dig towards rapper Eminem. The singer replied with “I don’t even know who that is. I wrote the song and I’m very happy with it. And I’m happy with my new album. So I don’t know if somebody wants to write their little songs. I haven’t heard them on the radio, I don’t know what’s going on with that. They don’t seem to play them here in America. I’m not sure so I don’t know.” Wow. I think that’s pretty much a sign that this feud of theirs will never die.

Will.I.Am Gets Sued
Sep 24, 2009 Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, Will.I.Am
Will.I.Am, Fergie and several others involved in the recording of the 2006 song ‘Voodoo Doll’ (off of the former meth addict’s solo album) are being sued by the music group Groundation. The group claims that the song “is substantially and strikingly similar” to their single ‘Each One Teach One’ which was recorded back in 2000. It’s not really surprising for someone who has been plagued by copyright scandals in the past. I just wish that the Black Eyed Peas rapper didn’t have to involve the female singer. The lawsuit is seeking for unspecified damages. They better get ready to pay up.

Kanye West Leads BET Nods
Sep 22, 2009 BET, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Taylor Swift
Everyone may still be upset at what Kanye West did to Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV VMAs but there’s a network which isn’t – BET. The rapper received nine nominations for the fourth annual BET Hip Hop Awards which will air on October 27th. Kanye leads in the nominations with Jay-Z and Lil Wayne following with seven nods each and TI having six nods. People may not be happy with Kanye as a person but they sure are happy with his music. This time, I bet he can hog the spotlight and ruin his image without having to hurt someone else in turn.

Beyonce serenades girl with leukaemia on Sydney stage
Sep 22, 2009 Beyonce, Concert Gig, YouTube

Beyonce serenaded an Australian girl with leukaemia on stage in Sydney.
The bejewelled singer knelt to sing a lush version of Halo for the girl, Chelsea, before embracing her. Chelsea wiped tears from her eyes.
She appeared on morning television after the Acer Arena concert with her mother and broke out a few bars on request. The fair child has been partly balded by her treatment. But her eyes were made up with eyeliner to show a striking freckled face framed by wisps of hair.
A video of the heartfelt tribute that included the chorus “I Pray You Won’t Fade Away” surfaced on YouTube.
Chelsea’s age was not given but she appeared to be about nine. The performance left many in the audience in tears.

Lady Gaga Scores Another Hit
Sep 21, 2009 Lady Gaga, MTV VMA
Lady Gaga just earned herself another Top 20 song on the Billboard Hot 100 last week. The singer’s latest single ‘Paparazzi’ just jumped 26 spots to the number 18 spot and made the song her fourth US Top 20 hit. Congratulations to her! I can’t believe she’s already achieved that goal so early in her career. You can bet that she’s going to have even more up her sleeve down the road. I also bet that the sudden jump came from the mass hysteria after her 2009 MTV VMA performance. Let me be honest with you, I am still slightly disturbed by it.

He’s madly in love.” The source is also saying that it was Usher’s feelings for Grace that finally pushed him to end his marriage.

Standing Ovation for Natalie Cole
Sep 18, 2009 Concert, Natalie Cole
After being diagnosed with Hepatitis C last year, Natalie Cole has been through what she describes as a real tough journey. The singer has undergone chemotherapy and a kidney transplant yet she was in full force at her comeback concert last week. She told the crowd “I really do have to say … it really is a miracle time. It’s a miracle night for me. I never thought I’d be standing here healthy and whole and 100 percent. My heart is very full tonight, and I know a lot of you know why. It’s just good to be back. You know what I’m saying? You know, things don’t always go the way we want it to. Things happen unexpectedly. You got to take the good with the bad.” Natalie received several standing ovations throughout her performance in which she sang 17 songs.
