The Eagles Take the Long Road Out of Eden

The Eagles Take the Long Road Out of Eden

Just because it took them 13 years to deliver a studio sequel to their 1994 live album Hell Freezes Over, don’t say that it took the Eagles a long time to cash in on their reunion. They started cashing in almost immediately, driving up ticket prices into the stratosphere as they played gigs on a semi-regular basis well into the new millennium.

Fans were satisfied by the oldies and the band kept raking in the dough, so they could take their time making a new album. And did they ever take their time — the gap between 2007’s Long Road Out of Eden, their first album since 1979’s The Long Run, was nearly as long as that between their 1980 breakup and 1994 reunion. Far from indulging in a saturation campaign for this long-awaited record, the Eagles released the double-disc Long Road Out of Eden with surgical precision, indulging in few interviews and bypassing conventional retail outlets in favor of an exclusive release with Wal-Mart, who were not only the biggest retailer in America but where a good chunk of the band’s contemporary audience — equal parts aging classic rockers and country listeners — shopped

Lil Wayne, the Leakingest Rapper in the Game

Lil Wayne, the Leakingest Rapper in the Game

Lil Wayne hasn’t released a major-label album in two years, an awful long time in today’s here-today, gone-tomorrow rap market, yet in that time he’s ascended to the top of his field, to the point where his next album, Tha Carter III, is among the industry’s most eagerly awaited. His stock has risen partly because of his innumerable guest features, but more so because of the steady stream of mixtapes he’s released — one after the other, month after month, none of them available at your local big-box retailer. In an age where the Internet is seen by some in the music industry as a threat to be contained with lawsuits and other forms of deterrence, Lil Wayne is one of an increasing number of artists who are using the Internet to their advantage, feeding his fan base all the music it can download and, in the process, inspiring a dedicated following.

Like recent mixtapes by Jay-Z, Kanye West, and 50 Cent, these Lil Wayne mixes circulate freely on the Internet and are promotional in nature, intended to drum up interest for forthcoming commercial releases.

Jay-Z to Tour!

Jay-Z to Tour!

Jay-Z, that one-time retired now very much back-with-a-vengeance rapper who holds as arm candy that divalicious diva herself Beyonce Knowles formerly of Destiny’s Child before she broke free into a solo career, is going on tour and you had better believe that you are not going to want to miss out on seeing him perform live!

Highlights of this mega-brand performer’s touring schedule include gigs at such locales as the House of Blues in both West Hollywood, California on November 6 and in Chicago, Illinois on November 7 and Rams Head Live! in Baltimore, Maryland on November 9 as well as Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, New York on November 11, and the Fillmore – TLA in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 12.

You had better believe that you are not going to want to miss out on this chance to see this rapper-entity do his thing live so get yourself tickets today.

Foxy’s Still Got It

Foxy Brown has landed herself in jail for a year. But that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have the right to rock out.

The legally embattled rapper is dropping a new album entitled ‘Brooklyn’s Don Diva’ next month. It’s her first release since 2001’s ‘Broken Silence’. And the first single off of it is tight! You just have to love ‘Lights Go Out’. It has to be one of the hottest songs in hip hop right now and Foxy just kills it.

Too bad she can’t do any promotion for it. Maybe she can arrange a live satellite feed of her performing the song from jail.

Kid Rock Does an Avril

TMZ is reporting that a man named Maurice Foreman from Kentucky is claiming that it’s no coincidence that his song ‘Slow Death’ is similar to Kid Rock’s hit ‘So Hott’. Foreman sought Steppin’ Out’s Chaunce Hayden’s help in finding legal representation saying that he has copyright to his song written in 1997. Foreman says that Rock sings ‘so hot’ three times just like he sang ‘slow death’ three times and said that the lead guitar notes are identical.

Unfortunately, Foreman told Hayden that he’s “a poor guy who works in a factory so I don’t have a lot of money” which made it hard to find a lawyer. But if he does have a case, that’s money right there.

TREY SONGZ

Twenty-two-year-old Trey Songz is an underrated young R&B talent with lackluster first-album sales, despite an armful of quality singles. The launch single from his sophomore self-titled effort, “Can’t Help but Wait,” exposes his maturity and hunger to achieve the notoriety he deserves. With magnificent production from the European duo with soul, StarGate, and co-writing sorcery from Johnta Austin, Songz pours out his emotions for a woman that he is trying to convince to leave an abusive relationship—and if you pay close attention, there also are a couple of clues on how to give a lady the respect she deserves.

This time around, there should be no reason why Songz need “Wait” to find the level of fame he deserves. Oh yes till his fame shoots up and he becomes a household name you can at least support this rising star by purchasing or listening to his singles, come on let support the talent in this country.

Why Lil Wayne Flaked

Lil Wayne was a no show for a show at a high school in North Carolina a few nights ago. TMZ got an exclusive with Charles ‘Duke’ Lineberry Jr., the attorney for Mitchell Entertainment Group who promoted the concert in hopes to shed some light on why the rapper flaked.

The concert was promoted as a ‘Stop the Violence’ event and was set up because of 8 gang-related murders in the small community of Wilmington, North Carolina. Lil Wayne was the so-called headliner with ministers and local celebrities taking the stage to speak out against violence.

A crowd of around 3,000 was expected but only about 1,000 people showed up. There are multiple reasons for the small crowd which includes Lil Wayne’s recent legal troubles and that the rescheduling of the concert made people lose interest.

Britney Spears’ friends call for boycott of her new album

britney_spears-boycott-of-her-new-album.jpg

They would have to pay ME to buy that garbage. I’ve never spent one cent on Britney and I never will. She represents everything that is wrong with the music industry. Crappy music created by a corporation trying to make money off of teeny boppers. It worked for a while, but those days are over. This album is going to bomb horribly. She needs a year off. Leave the spotlight, spend time doing something that has nothing to do with the career. She can make her comeback after a year-long retirement. Leave LA, spend time with friends and family, and no more ‘handlers. ‘When she comes back, everyone will have missed her, she’ll enter a new phase of her career, and she’ll stop having to try so hard. Mariah Carey went nuts because she was overworked, being a popstar and paying dozens of people to keep the train rolling. Britney is doing the same thing, with her panties off, at the expense of her kids.

Jermaine Dupri Blasts Justin Timberlake

jermaine_dupri_justin.jpg

I think he’s talented, but whiny. He’s always going on and on how great he is…humble pie is going to taste mighty rough when it’s served up, as it always ends up being, at some point. He can dance, he can sing (marginally), he’s got some style…sure, it comes from a thousand r/b legends before him, but still…his biggest crime is he’s a punk ass about everything. Stop tooting yo’ own horn, just do your thing…stop acting like your the savior of music, cuz what your putting out is the thing right now, but remember, what you put out in the late nineties was the thing then, too. This too shall pass. Save some good will, eh? As to the Superbowl shit, they were both at fault, both should have been equally on blast, and both should have taken responsibility… but PAB weenied out of his share and that will always leave some with a poor opinion of him. Actually, just for simulating ripping/forcing a girl he aught to be whipped. Course then he’d cry a like a baby…

Common – I Want You – Video Trailer

Here’s a Common music video for his new single entitled “I Want U”. The video will premiere on October 23rd on BET and AOL Music.

Mariah Pushed Back

blog5-mariah-carey.jpg

Mariah Carey has just pushed back the release of her new album until February which has her rabid and impatient fans quite upset. Everyone thought that her new record was coming out this November.

A fan wrote to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton and was pretty vocal about being upset about the release being pushed back. She says that maybe, instead of whoring it up all over LA clubs, she should work on new material.

Mariah has been ‘whoring it up’ with basket ball player Rick Fox. A basket ball player and not a music producer who can actually do something to help Mariah with her career.

T.I. is Innocent

 blog-ti.jpg

Innocent until proven guilty, or at least that’s what a source is saying about the gun charges on T.I. The source is saying that the troubled rapper never tried to buy guns and that it was all his bodyguard’s doing.

MediaTakeOut.com was able to talk to the source and the source said that “”[The bodyguard] asked T.I. for an advance on his [pay] and T.I. gave it to him. …Whatever he spent money on — whether it be guns, drugs, or formula for his children — T.I. had nothing to do with it.”

When asked about the guns found in T.I.’s house, the source said “T.I. has security that lives with him and stay with him at all times. The gun that the [federal agents] found belonged to his security team.”

CNN reports otherwise though saying that there were firearms in the car T.I. was using.

Conspiracy or just caught?

Soulja VS Souljah

blog2-soulja-boy.jpg

‘Crank That (Soulja Boy)’ by Soulja Boy is currently at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. If the name sounds familiar but you’re not sure from where you’ve heard it before, let me tell you a story.

Souljah Boy, do notice the ‘h’, was part of the group Mo Thugs during the 90s. The guy with the h says he has been using that name for around 12 years and says that he was shocked when DeAndre Way, the real name of the guy without the h, Interscope and Collipark decided to ‘infringe and misappropriate his name’.

Souljah’s lawyers are reportedly in the process of contacting all the parties involved and are hoping to fix the problem.

Paul McCartney ‘John Lennon Wasn’t Gay’

pauls.jpg

Paul McCartney has slammed rumors his Beatles bandmate John Lennon was secretly gay. Lennon is claimed to have had affairs with men as well as women, before and during his marriages to Cynthia Lennon and Yoko Ono – but McCartney only saw him with women. Wonder why the rumors or coming so late… why should anyone care today? Would anyone care to know if he were gay or not after so many years, it’s just if he were gay then Yoko would have known and she would have gone public with the news long time ago, why would Paul have to say something like this after so many years have past. Ok that John Lennon was influential and people would like to know about his past but what difference does it make to even the gay community if he were gay. I think Paul and company should stop commenting on a person who is not there to confirm or deny the same.

Lil Wayne’s Lawyer Says Rapper Missed Court Date Because Notice Was Sent To Old Address

lil-wayne.jpg

A lawyer for Lil Wayne says his client missed a court date, leading to his arrest last weekend, because the summons was sent to an old address and the hip-hop star didn’t get it. It got changed, the damn address got changed then it would have been mandatory for him to inform the court that his address has changed from that date onwards his new address was as follows and any further correspondence could be made here. He is plain and simple trying to fool the courts. Man, when I have a new mobile number I just text the new number to all my contacts asking them to note it and delete the previous one as I have discontinued it. I think it was his attorney’s responsibility to inform the courts of the change. The hurricane happened last year and then when ever he found a new address he should have taken the matter seriously as there is a court matter pending against him. No sorry but I do not give him the benefit of doubt.

Jailbait Singers Come Back to Bite Idol

american-idol-poster.jpeg

Sanjaya’s giving American Idol headaches again. And this time, his tender age, not his off-key singing, is the issue. The Idol powers that be at 19 Entertainment have agreed pay $5,000 to the state of New York for child-labor violations stemming from this past summer’s American Idols Live! Tour. Just goes to show you that laws are not made to protect the people! They are made to create revenue for Uncle Sam. It would be different if this woman was concerned about the children’s welfare… But all she was concerned about was if these people purchased all their permits!!! But that also that if the two were underage then how could there have been permit for the two to perform at all. And if there were permits then this is a serious matter that needs to be investigated by the concerned officials. American Idol is a show that’s watched all over the globe and if there is any malfunctioning that is taking place on the show then it’s directly sending the wrong signals to everyone viewing it, that America accepts child labour while telling others to reform.

Oasis Gives

blog4-oasis.jpg

Radiohead’s experiment of letting the fans download their new album for free has proven to be a success when their website topped the chart of music websites. Now, some of the music industry’s biggest names are following in their footsteps.

Jamiroquai and Oasis are not contracted to a record label much like Radiohead. They are also rumored to be considering on following Radiohead’s actions. Oasis has already announced that their next single will be available for download for a mere 99 pence. The Charlatans are also offering their next album for free if they visit the site of radio station XFM. Madness is considering giving away its next album for free as well.

With rapidly declining CD sales and increasing download sales but still the same wide fanbase, the performers who choose to give away their music are expected to make money from sales of concert tickets and other merchandise.

Madonna dumps label in $120m deal

madonna-deal.jpg

Pop star Madonna is close to leaving her long-time Warner Bros. Records label for a wide-ranging $US120 million deal with concert promotion firm Live Nation. Madonna would receive a mix of cash and stock in exchange for allowing Live Nation to distribute three studio albums, promote concert tours, sell merchandise and license her name. Like 120 million dollars is I think way too much that the company is dishing out for a 49 year old singer who doesn’t tour much. I think Live Nation shall find hard and very tough to recover their investment and though she is a world reowned artist and her name is very popular but still given the positives of the brand name ‘Madonna’ it will be tough going. She is over the years becoming very predictable with her music and only some nice videos that come out help her sell the album.
