George Strait is still blazing a trail through country music. The country legend, who had his 55th number-one single this year and was recently inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, leads this year’s Country Music Association Awards with five nominations. He’s up for Entertainer of the Year, Top Male Vocalist and Best Single (for “Wrapped”), as well as for Best Album for It Just Comes Natural and Musical Event for the live version of “Hey Good Lookin’” with Jimmy Buffett and Alan Jackson. With that kind of nominations and the track record this guy has, I don’t think he has any competition as on date. Well what I would be interested in would be that when the awards are announced how many awards he will win out of the ones he is nominated for. Like 55 number-one singles in his career is something he would be proud of and should be coz I don’t think there are many how can boast of such a repertoire.

Ozzy Osbourne’s touring Ozzfest show has been marred by another controversy after an off-duty police officer was attacked while trying to make an arrest on Tuesday night. According to North Carolina police, one officer suffered minor injuries in a scuffle at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre show in Charlotte, where he was working as a security guard. The crowds at these concerts are so unruly and badly behaved that either there should limited entry or adequate security arrangements should be put in place before there is any confirmation on the concert taking place. But police officials insist this was one incident during an otherwise trouble-free event. Hey like if the police do not have problems tackling these maniacs then I should not be saying this, all you boys and girls go out there and have a ball. Smash some window panes and rip off the concert coz the police ain’t fear struck of you.

Scottish rocker KT Tunstall longs for a split with her boyfriend – because it will give her inspiration for songs. The singer briefly split with long-term boyfriend Luke Bullen – and it inspired her to write song Someday Soon which features on new album Drastic Fantastic. And she now plans to have more arguments in a bid for musical success. Nonsense that you need to have split with your boyfriend to find inspiration to write love and emotional songs, that way to write rock and rap songs one would have to spend a few nights with a prostitute or a gay to write these woeful songs. I thing she’s completely looking at the wrong way to find inspiration to write songs, rather than a break up she could well sit on the pot and find better inspiration. We are looking for love songs that make us happy not sad and remorseful about our past relationships gone wrong. KT don’t spoil a relation for just trying to find inspiration dear, go have some coke and cheer up.

Singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner has hit the top spot in the UK album chart, confirming him as one of this year’s hottest new artists.
Hand Built By Robots was released last month and now sits above Elvis Presley and Amy Winehouse in the rundown.
Faulkner rose to prominence supporting James Morrison and Paolo Nutini.
In the singles chart, Kanye West’s Stronger has held onto number one for a second week, holding off a challenge from Sean Kingston’s Beautiful Girls.

Kanye West trumpets education in TV spot

Kanye West says he isn’t political and has no interest in “who’s running with who” in the 2008 election. But the 30-year-old hip-hop mogul filmed a public service announcement Friday for an advocacy group trying to make education the top priority for the next president.
“Politics is a business,” the six-time Grammy winner told The Associated Press Friday. “I’m more social. I just care about people.”
During the filming of the television commercial, sponsored by Strong American Schools and his own Kanye West Foundation, West read from a script at the front of a mock classroom filled with real Chicago students.
“Yo. Becoming a music superstar took hard work but it also took a solid education,” West said dryly into the camera, his hands half inside his pockets.
“Say it with a little more meaning, Kanye,” a director prodded.
West took his hands out of his pockets and started gesturing with his hands as he talked, taking several more stabs at the script.
Strong American Schools is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation. The group, which says it is nonpartisan and doesn’t endorse candidates, is promoting three goals for education: higher standards, effective teachers and more support for learning, according to Executive Director Marc Lampkin, who worked on President Bush’s 2000 campaign.
Other celebrities making public-service announcements for the organization’s $60 million “Ed in ‘08″ campaign include actors Ron Livingston from “Sex and the City” and Maura Tierney from “ER.”
West, who grew up in Chicago, quit classes at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and later left Chicago State University for the music business. His 2004 Grammy-award winning album was titled “The College Dropout.”
His new album, “Graduation,” comes out Sept. 11, the same day as the release of “Curtis,” the new album from 50 Cent, who promised to retire if West’s new album outsells his.
West denied any feud between the two and said he talks to 50 Cent, “all the time.”

Stolen Elvis Presley gun is recovered

A handgun stolen from an exhibit during last week’s commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death has been recovered.
Surveillance video showed a man reaching into a display case at the “Elvis After Dark” exhibit at Graceland, Presley’s mansion, and removing a black, 9 mm Smith & Wesson pistol on Aug 14.
Travis Brookins turned the gun over to police Monday after the theft was reported by news media.
Brookins said he was cleaning portable toilets behind the exhibit hall last Thursday when he found the gun in the muck. Unaware the weapon had been stolen, Brookins took it home and cleaned it.
“He called us and said he thinks he had the gun and brought it to us,” Memphis police Lt. Jerry Gwyn said.
Gwyn said he believes the thief may have accidentally dropped the gun into the toilet.
“Of course, whoever dropped it wouldn’t go in there,” he said.
Presley died at Graceland on Aug. 16, 1977, and is buried in a small garden beside the house.
Tens of thousands of fans were in Memphis last week for various ceremonies marking the anniversary of Presley’s death.

Rapper Kanye West has ditched the idea of multiple costume changes at the MTV Video Music Awards next month – he plans to wear the same outfit and “stink” like a rock star instead. May be the water supply to his home has been cut off for not paying his due water supply bills for the past year, therefore he knows he will not be able to have a clean bath till the awards take place next month and he is already stinking for the past moth now since the water supply has been cut. So instead of having people faint of bad smell that day he has made this announcement a month in advance so that all those who plan to attend the ceremony could carry protective deodorants and other protective gear that day so as to avoid been taking to hospital for lung and breathing problems. He is a not a rock star and he’s not a star at all so if there any myths that he has about himself then those should be dispelled at once.

Hip-hop star Snoop Dogg has been branded a nightmare neighbor by the residents whose road he deserted seven years ago. The rapper sold his lavish Claremont, California home earlier this week – despite moving out in 2000 after it featured on an episode of MTV’s Cribs. I wonder what it is about some celebs that just don’t recognize and care for their neighbors. Neighbors make up a neighborhood that in turn makes up the community and so on until you have a country. Take care of your neighbor and sometimes they take care of you…! But these idiot singers never may be care for their parents so how could we expect them to ever care for their neighbors. Most of the neighbors might know that he used to live beside them but he would never have known anyone in the neighborhood and would never have tried to make friends. They’re in their 50s now, and they’ve traded their long heavy-metal locks for close-cropped cuts, but the original members of Van Halen are back in business and promise that they’re better than ever.
“Usually, when a band comes back like us, it’s rockers with walkers,” frontman David Lee Roth told reporters at the Four Seasons Hotel here on Monday. “This is anything but.”
Van Halen held a press conference to announce a 25-date concert tour beginning Sept. 27 in Charlotte, N.C. The re-formed group features three original members Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen along with Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang, on bass.
“This is not a reunion,” said Roth, 51. “This is a whole new band.”
“It is totally blowing our minds and I think it will yours, too,” said Eddie Van Halen, 52. “It’s better than it’s ever been.”
With its flamboyant frontman, “Diamond Dave,” Van Halen was one of the most popular rock bands of the 1980s. But the group split up in 1985 and the original lineup hasn’t performed together since.
“I’m shocked any of us are still vertical,” Roth quipped.
He and Eddie Van Halen insisted that the band’s reunion isn’t just a one-tour deal. After performing throughout North America, Van Halen plans to hit Asia and Australia.
“Then we make an album,” Roth said, adding that the group has “lots of dreams, lots of ambitions.”
“We really have re-formed this team like a brother team that it never was before,” he said.
Wolfgang Van Halen, 16, brings “a young energy and a spirit” to the band, Roth said, adding that the teenage rocker chose the tour’s song list, which features “close to 25 of your greatest hits.”
“You know every single song, you know every guitar lick, every woo, every kick, every jump, every drum lick,” he said. “We can’t afford to shirk that duty.”
The band has been rehearsing since October and plans to exceed fans’ expectations, Roth said.

Really like her – because she does her own thing AND has a beautiful voice – and hope so much she gets herself together (right expression?) – cause it would be a shame she throws her life away. The night that she overdosed, Amy said she smoked heroin, snorted cocaine, took ecstasy pills, took Ketamine pills, and drank tons of vodka and whiskey. Puke! Just saying vodka and whiskey aloud makes me gets that tingling feeling in my lip like I might vomit. How does this chick do it? How disgusting. Let’s hope she gets some help. I really am puzzled at one thing, they booze so much, they ecstasy pills and heroin and if there’s something else then I do not know the word for the obscure thing but how do they manage to keep their voices intact and still manage to sing that well, by now they should have lost their voices completely. That’s a miracle to me.
Producers Want Unknown as Notorious B.I.G.

Producers putting together the biopic on late rapper Notorious B.I.G. are seeking an unknown actor to fill the role. A series of open auditions will be held in currently undisclosed locations. Filming is scheduled to begin this fall. Biggie’s mother and two managers will be selecting the right man for the part. His mother insists she will know the right actor when she sees him. Biggie who’s real name was Christopher Wallace, had been shot to death in March 1997 outside of a party in L.A. It’s always a good idea to find an unknown actor when trying to portray one who had previously been well known. To fill in the role with an actor that everyone knows will just take away from the story being told. Millions of rap fans have been waiting for this biopic and I’m sure the producers are doing all they can to make it the best possible.
Lily Allen Cancels Gigs Over Illness

British pop star Lily Allen has disappointed fans by canceling a series of upcoming gigs across Europe after falling victim to illness. The Smile singer was due to play four dates later this month, but has been forced to pull out of any performances while she recovers from sinusitis – a condition she believes has been caused by excessive world travel. Posting on her MySpace blog – accompanied by a photo of her holding a doctor’s note – she writes, “I’ve literally been around the whole world in two weeks from London to Japan around Australia and then to LA and Vegas then back to LA for a 17 hour video shoot. That docs prescription is a fake, she is suffering from a thing called ‘exhaustion’ something that is literally similar to what Amy Winehouse is suffering from and all these girls from Paris to Lindsay to Amy to Lilly all have the same drugs problems and none will tell us so. They just don’t have the energy to carry themselves for a week and anything above a week of hard work makes them awfully tired. All of them are a bunch of drug addicts.
