Jolie urges US to help orphans

Angelina Jolie who is now helping an orphans advocacy group to establish its headquarters in Washington in Thursday pushed for more US aid for education in developing countries.
“This is a happy day because it’s not often enough that these children are represented in this town.” Said Jolie to a room crowded with reporters and cameras.
Jolie appeared with four others to open the Washington headquarters of Global Action for Children – a non partisan advocacy group established in 2003.
The group which is supported by other charities and religious organizations aims to receive $2.5 billion a year more to help for the developing of education in the countries which need help.
Jolie said that orphan kids if survive don’t have many options in their life. A great number of them are used for prostitution or they become child soldiers. There is a huge risk that the more vulnerable of them could become terrorists.
So it’s up to US government to stop this process because this way they would ensure world’s safety.
Jolie demurred when asked if her cause might be better served if she became more political or ran for elective office.” I certainly don’t think anybody wants that.” She said, laughing.
Baldwin at it Again

The other Baldwin this time. Daniel Baldwin has had charges dropped against him for the supposed theft of a 2003 GMC Yukon. Evidently Ken Smith, Daniel’s friend, owns the vehicle, there was some serious mix up in communications. Daniel’s
currently in a drug treatment program. Count the mix up be surrounding him taking off in his friend’s car in a drug induced stupor? I’m not starting any rumors here, but if I were, it would be a pretty good one, you have to admit.
Daniel has always been the ugly Baldwin in my opinion, and this wrap sheet photo just seals the deal. I understand the Ken’s cousin leant Daniel the keys to the car, but honestly, doesn’t he look like the kind of guy that would steal a car and hock it for smack? I’m just saying, I wouldn’t give him the keys at the valet stand, if you catch my meaning.
Pamela Anderson in love with Russian children

The actress was in Russia to co-host the MTV Russia Film Awards. While being there she visited a local orphanage and said that visiting the “inspiring” orphans was the highlight of the trip and really “opened her eyes”. Pamela said she wants to return to Russia to see the kids again.
“It was really eye opening – sad but inspiring to see these kids happy despite having nothing – really nothing, including parents. I’m going back to visit. I’m in love with them and their spirit.”
Maybe the actress would want to adopt some of those children and this would be the aim of her next visit.
She noted: ”It’s very difficult to adopt from Russia unless you are a Russian or living in Russia. It’s not common in their culture and they do not have a foster care system.”
All signs show the intention of Pamela to get a Russian child and if there is a slight chance the authorities should let her do it. Because all she wants is to make one of them happy and give him a better life, one he will definitely not have while living in the orphanage. All we could do is to wish Pamela good luck in achieving her goal and hope to hear soon for an adoption case in Russia.
Monster Mash Man Mourned
Yesterday was the last day for “Monster Mash” singer Bobby “Boris” Pickett. The song was at the top of the charts in 1962, largely due to Bobby’s dead-on impression of Boris Karloff. Bobby passed away Wednesday, succumbing to leukemia at the age of 69. When the song debuted in 1962 it shot to the top of the charts the week before Halloween, and then twice again in subsequent years. It has since then been one of those songs that is eternal, never getting old. Bob Dylan explained it on his XM Radio show last year, “Our next artist is considered a one-hit wonder, but his one hit comes back year after year.” Known as the “Guy Lombardo” of Halloween, Bobby Pickett wrote the song in about half an hour.
Madonna and Guy Ritchie having problems

The marriage of the pop-idol Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie is said to be in a crises. The reporters also claim that the problems are due mostly to Guy Ritchie.
Madonna who returned yesterday from her visit to Malawi – the countryside of their adopted boy David was furious to Guy who didn’t want to go with her on her trip.
To make things worse in a telephone call when being in Africa Madonna had a huge argument with her husband.
The problems of Madonna are getting more and more serious and Guy is not helping at all. When Madonna was abroad he went with friends to a club and they got drunk properly.
Maybe Guy should think about his behavior because it doesn’t help his wife. She wants him to be close to her when she is making important decisions like the adoption of another child. It’s hard to do it alone and they are a family after all. This decision should be made by both of them.
So if Guy wants to stay married to Madonna he should learn how to be a better husband.
No Need to Bail Willie out of Jail

Willie Nelson today pled guilty to misdemeanor marijuana possession. What this means is that he will not have to face jail time for the offense. Instead he will pay a fine of $1024 to a Louisiana court and have six months’ probation. Are we at all surprised? I know I’m not. This is Willie Nelson we’re talking about. Marijuana possession is a requirement of his career path, and they should pre-print the tickets citing him for it.
During his short time in Louisiana, fans gathered outside the courthouse for autographs. Nelson was a gentleman as always and signed pieces of paper and such, shaking hands with the small crowd. I guess toking doesn’t affect his manners.

There are rumors about Jesse Metcalfe and Girls Aloud’s Nadine Cole split. We have a reason to think like that because Jesse was seen to go out with a mystery woman. He is a magnet for women with his pretty eyes and smile and nobody could blame him for this. It’s hard to be so handsome and be fateful to just one woman.
Jesse who lately spent some time in a rehab for alcohol problems was spotted holding hands with an unknown brunette in Los Angeles while his Irish fiancée was working in England. But he should be careful what he is doing because Nadine wouldn’t let him cheat her.
“Cheating is something Nadine will definitely not stand for. She has been working hard with the other girls in England while he’s swanning about in LA”- said a friend of her.
Jesse and Nadine have met in Australia in February 2006 and from then on they have a long-distance relationship. Their busy schedule and all those flights definitely don’t help them at all and this mystery date may be the result of all this.
“If she thinks he has been cheating on her with another girl there will be a hell to pay. She loves him but she’s not going to let him take her for granted.”- A Nadine’s friend explained.
Jesse should prepare himself for the next time he’ll meet his girlfriend. It might be dangerous.
Bollywood Couple Begin Married Life
Weddings are getting crazy these days. Ever since that mammoth production when Lady Diana married Prince Charles, it seems that everyone has to outdo what’s been done before. Well, it will be a long while before anyone is able to outdo the wedding of Bollywood screen idols Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. Their wedding just came to a finish after three days of festivities. That’s an entire weekend of celebrations! Now I don’t think any wedding these days can count amongst its attendees thousands of rabid film fans, but here you go. It is said that eleven priest presided over their vows on Friday night. At least they know how to do it in style.
If I were them, I would have gotten married somewhere private, and then shared some photos or film of the event with fans. Instead they decided to have their wedding in Mumbai, the great entertainment capitol of India, where everyone can witness their happiness. I’m sure they are happy, but can you imagine how their cheeks must hurt after three days of smiling and posing for photos?
Elijah Wood becoming a producer

What do you think about the perspective of this young actor in the role of producer? I think he deserves a chance.
Elijah who plays Frodo in the trilogy “Lord of The Rings” announced he would work on the adaptation of the black novel “Black Wings Has My Angel” published in 1953.
In the book is about the story of ex-prisoner who organizes armed robbery with the help of a prostitute. Elijah wouldn’t play in the movie. He would just watch this time. In an interview he said that he is really excited about the chance to inspire a new perusal to this book.
He confided that the cause to take up the producer’s job this time was the book itself. One of the actor’s favorite styles in literature is the black novels and movies. He said that this is forgotten classical literature.
Well we don’t have any other option as to wait and see what the result will be. Maybe we would be fascinated or vice versa. Who knows.
Lohan Lying Low

apart at the seems, Lindsey looks to be taking a serious look at how she has been living her life. When asked about all those wild nights she spent with Paris Hilton and Britney, Lindsey sounded, dare I say it, almost mature. “It upset me because I was…a bit irresponsible,” she said in an interview with Allure. “I didn’t think about the consequences, but I was also going through something in my life.”
Finally, a kid that is smart enough to know when she is doing herself harm. I have been losing respect for this girl, and with this information coming out, I think that respect is being won back. Lindsey’s not driving without a license, she’s not shaving her head and prattling on to paparazzi, she’s taking time to heal physically and emotionally. Perhaps Disney’s Golden Girl isn’t gone after all.
Carrie Underwood Takes Top Honors

Carrie Underwood was the big winner at the yesterday’s CMT Music Awards at Belmont University’s Curb Even Center in Nashville. She took prizes for home video of the year and female award for “Before he Cheats”. The award for home video was voted by fans during the show. The director of the video of Carrie took the award for director of the year.
Rascal Flatts won group video of the year for their song “What hurts the most” –one of two videos they had in this category. The musical portion of the show was started with them and they played “Life is a Highway” which is the soundtrack from “The Cars”.
The show was really interesting and it made the public laugh. It was a parody of Fox Television’s “Are you smarter than a fifth grader” which is hosted by Jeff Foxworthy who was also host to the CMT Music Awards for the third time.
As a whole the show was organized good and there were many talented singers who took part in it and won the prizes for their hard work during the previous year.
Allen Calls it Quits

Lilly Allen isn’t making any friends in America right now. On the heels of her recent remarks about how “backward” Americans are, Lilly has come up against sagging interest in her less than stellar debut album Alright, Still. She’s a British pop star with huge aspirations and an even huger thirst. Yeah, she said that stuff about Americans, but she didn’t mean it because she was drunk. Uh-huh. This is me believing her. Insert sarcastic rolling of the eyes. Partly in response to her comments, partly in response to her lack of talent, Lilly has been refunding tickets all along her American tour. Lilly recently wrote on her MySpace page, “I am tired, but more than that I don’t think I have been giving my best performances recently.” Yep she’s tired of it, tired enough to pack it in and go home. She looks tired, doesn’t she? Maybe it’s all the booze. Good riddance, I say. Go on home and whine about how America hates you. Maybe it will inspire some good music for a change.
Oasis wouldn’t release an album this year

Bad news for Oasis fans! Noel Gallagher announced there is no perspective for a new album of Oasis this year. He said he want to spend some time with his family and his pregnant girlfriend Sara McDonald. Need to prepare for the baby. The plans are to get the new album started this year and release it afterwards.
After fulfilling the contract with Sonny, there has be no new album from Oasis. Noel Gallagher said that he has decided first to do the album and then search for record labels and sign a contract with a music company.
There were some rumors these days, about Gallagher starting solo career, but the band officially has denied them on their website. Part of their statement says:
“Noel Gallagher is not preparing to launch into a solo career nor will he be playing at Glastonbury this June, as have been strongly suggested in some circles. He is an avid fan of the festival and will no doubt be on site checking out a few of his favourite bands again this year.”
Roll Over Newman, McCartney is Coming to Town

Or at least, coming to salad dressing and suits. Paul McCartney has decided that it is time to merchandize, and in the name of branding has decided to apply to trademark his name. This way we can buy Paul McCartneyTM underwear and umbrellas, and drink Paul McCartneyTM soda in trademarked glasses. Who knows where this could go. I imagine a musical theme park McCartneyLand, where children ride in little flying guitars over strawberry fields. Then they flock to the hog dog stand for a McCartney Dog (entirely soy-based) and then it’s off to Abbey Road. You get the picture.
Honestly, celebrity branding has been around for decades, and if Paul wants to go ahead and try it, be my guest. But I really can’t see me rushing out to buy his salad dressing. I’ll stick to the other Paul’s, thank you very much. It’s his own.
Ciara-the black pearl in American Hip-Hop
I don’t know if you are a fan of the hip-hop style but I am more than sure that if you hear her singing you’ll definitely like it. She appeared on the music horizon two or three years ago and was immediately spotted and even in her first year made some great songs, which succeeded to reach the top of American charts. On the other hand she has plenty of fans who think she has very good vision and she sings really beautifully. Ciara makes one of the best clips I have ever seen. They are full of motion. She always dances and I think this impresses the viewer very much.
In my point of view she is the best hip-hop female singer now. When I hear her songs I can’t stand still. They make me dance till their end. I recommend you if you haven’t heard her before, just find one song of hers. There is no way not to like it.
Farewell Don and Aloha
Today I’m sad. Don Ho died today of heart failure at the age of 76. Don was known for his charming smile, his rose-tinted glasses, and for that ageless classic “Tiny Bubbles.” I was fortunate enough to see Don in concert once, at the KROQ Weenie Roast in Irvine, California. At that time I knew little about him, and hadn’t even heard his famous song. During that performance I was entranced by Don, just as the rest of the alternative music fans were, not because it was music we could relate to, but because he was a great entertainer.
I know a lot of today’s Hawaiian music (and perhaps some of the mainland’s as well) owes its style and panache to Don’s work. I for one am sorry to see him go, but am grateful to have seen him sing, if only once. Sleep well, gentle soul, your smile lives on in our hearts.
Brendan Fraser returns

Brendan Fraser is taking a part in a new movie at last. The movie he has chosen is “The Mummy” 3 which will be out in the summer of 2008. So if you want to see the brave and fearless Rick O’Connell again, you’ll have to hold your breath for a while.
Unfortunately, one of Brendan’s partners in the film, the charming Rachel Weisz, has declined her role and won’t be acting in the third part of the movie as Evelyn Carnahan O’Connell. This is a great disappointment for her fans. She has pulled out this project due to other commitments. She has signed up to star in “The Brothers Bloom” and “Dirt Music”.
The set of the film is in China and Rob Cohen who has become famous with “Stealth” and “The Fast And The Furious” will be the director. This is a guarantee for extremely spectacular action scenes. The expectations are this movie to have the success of the previous two which had incomes of $830 million worldwide.
